- “you might deceive old ifb people, but not new ifb”
- “im not gonna let you criticize pastor anderson nor the sinners prayer.”
First, I never mentioned Pastor Steven Anderson in my post, I simply uploaded an excerpt from Dr. Max Younce. I love and promote Brother Anderson. Although I do not agree with him on several issues, I am his ministry friend and thank God for him.
Second, I dread the so-called “Sinner's Prayer.” For several years after I got saved at age 13 in 1980, I needlessly experienced inexplicable fear and worry in tears, not knowing if I was really saved or going to Hell, all because ignorant Baptist preachers and false prophets like Jack Chick had wickedly lied to me time and time again, by foolishly saying that you have to pray a Sinner's Prayer to get to Heaven. I was stuck in a no win situation in a pit of worry and despair, unable to settle my salvation. I prayed several dozen times, asking God to save me again and again, but I still didn't have the sweet blessed assurance of salvation that I so desperately desired and needed.
It wasn't until decades later that I finally learned from Pastor Max Younce that I didn't need to pray at all to be saved, BELIEVING was enough!!! That settled it all in my soul and I haven't worried for one second since. Finally, I had the sweet blessed assurance that my name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life in Heaven. There is no greater joy, peace and reason to live each day, than to KNOW beyond any shadow of a doubt that you are 100% saved certain. Thank you Jesus!!!
Also, by unwisely leading a lost sinner to pray a Sinner's Prayer, you are running the risk of confusing them. You cannot show me one place in the Bible where a Christian led someone to Christ by saying, “Repeat the following words after me...” That is superstitious tommyrot, balderdash, poppycock, flapdoodle, claptrap and blahblah nonsense. We need to get back to preaching THE WORD OF GOD!!! There are too many hands in the pot nowadays. It seems like every church has their own homemade recipe for salvation. The Apostle Paul sternly warned in Galatians 1:6-9 that there has always been only ONE GOSPEL.
Beware of religious nuts like Peter S. Ruckman, Robert Breaker, Samuel C. Gipp, William P. Grady and other heretics who FALSELY teach that people were saved by WORKS in the Old Testament under the law of Moses. They were saved by grace through faith in Christ, just like we still are today (Acts 10:43).
Therefore, you can now understand why I frown heavily upon the Sinner's Prayer, and so should you dear friend. I stopped using the Sinner's Prayer 15 years ago. I am not overly critical of pastors who choose to still use the Sinner's Prayer, but for the aforementioned reasons I don't like it. At what point in Baptist church history did we go astray to change BELIEVING to PRAYING to be saved?
And also let me kindly say that I believe lost sinners who pray a Sinner's Prayer do get saved, just so long as they understand that faith is what saves them, and not saying a prayer. It is perfectly fine to accompany one's faith with a prayer, or even ask God to forgive your sins, but these things are not required to be saved. The great danger comes when the New IFB mandate saying a prayer and asking God for forgiveness of sins to be saved, which at a minimum confuses people, and at worst hinders them from seeing the true Gospel. Faith is the only righteous thing that I can do.
Kindly said, the man who is upset with me and Pastor Younce is a darn fool, because he is following the perverse teachings of a man (Pastor Steven Anderson) instead of basing what he believes on the inspired Word of God. 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝟯:𝟰, “𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗶𝗱: 𝘆𝗲𝗮, 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗿; 𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻, 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗱.” I love Brother Anderson, but he is very wrong to lead the New IFB (who are not independent at all because they all follow his doctrine) to believe that you must PRAY and ASK to be saved.
Third, I am not going to allow anyone to belittle me for preaching what I sincerely believe to be the truth. I had to block out the same troublemaker last year because of his horrible bullying, hateful spirit and arrogance. In an act of kindness, I unblocked everyone on Facebook on January 1st, 2025.
Unfortunately, people like him never learn. In his own world view, Pastor Steven Anderson can do no wrong and whatever he says is truth. We know that no preacher is always 100% right. Even though I humbly disagree with Pastor Anderson on several doctrinal points, I still love, respect and promote his soulwinning ministry. You don't have to agree with me on everything to be my friend.
I kindly warned the troublemaker (he lives in Canada) that I will not allow him to harass and bully me because I don't agree with the New IFB that prayer is required to be saved. The Bible plainly teaches that BELIEVING THE GOSPEL is enough to be saved (1st Corinthians 15:1-6). Anybody who insists that you must pray and ask God to forgive your sins to get to Heaven is a damned liar!!!
Jesus has already paid for everyone's sins with His precious blood 2,000 years ago on the cross of Calvary. Therefore, God is offering everyone forgiveness of sins and eternal life as a gift. All you need to do to obtain that gift is to receive it by faith. Simply take God at His word as recorded in the written Holy Bible. If you will simply believe the account, which God has recorded in His Word concerning Jesus Christ, you will be instantly and forever born again. It's that simple! We are the SINNERS; Jesus is the SAVIOR!
You do NOT need to pray, ask or confess to God to be saved. What saith the Scripture? 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝟭𝟭:𝟮𝟱-𝟮𝟲, “𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲: 𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗱, 𝘆𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲: 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗲. 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀?” Believe, believe, believe!!! That is the only way you can be saved, to BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!
Shame on the troublemaker for his bullying. The New IFB have some lunatics in their cult who vehemently bully anybody who disagrees with them. Pastor Jonathan Shelley in Texas preached an entire sermon against me over this very matter of not having to pray to be saved. Shame on him! Pastor Shelley thinks you must pray and ask to have your sins forgiven to be saved. Sadly he is WRONG!
I am going to go to seed in this matter until the good Lord takes me home to Heaven. You DON'T have to pray, ask or confess in order to be saved, you simply need to BELIEVE that Jesus did it all for you through Calvary's cross. The price has already been paid. That 𝒑𝙧𝒊𝙘𝒆 was the precious blood of Jesus (1st Peter 1:18-19). The 𝒑𝙡𝒂𝙘𝒆 where it was paid is on the Mercy Seat in the heavenly Holy Place (Hebrews 9:12, 24; 12:24). It was 2,000 years ago that the risen and ascended Savior sprinkled His actual liquid blood upon the Mercy Seat in Heaven, in the presence of God the Father on our behalf; the price was forever paid. Anyone who places their trust in Christ is saved!!! You don't have to “ask” God to forgive your sins, because God is already offering you eternal life freely, if you will simply accept it from Him. Only religious cults teach that you must “ask” God to forgive your sins.
The inspired King James Bible exposes the New IFB as liars in this important matter. I didn't bring up the New IFB today, one of their zealous lunatic cult followers did. There are all types of cults. The New IFB are all members of Steven Anderson's cult. That is what it is. By definition, even Christianity could be considered a cult. The dictionary defines "cult" as: "Adherents of an exclusive system of religious beliefs and practices." The New IFB are very exclusive, all adhering to the personal beliefs of one man since 2006, Steven Anderson. I love the New IFB, but some of their lunatic followers are attacking me for disagreeing with their heresy that you cannot go to Heaven without asking to have your sins forgiven and praying a Sinner's Prayer.
Having said all that, I am not saying that people who accompany their faith with a prayer are not saved, just so long as they understand that BELIEVING (trusting) on Christ is what saves them, and not trusting in a prayer or repeating some religious words. I heard a fool say on a Christian radio station several years ago that she was saved at age 3 when she prayed, “The Jesus' prayer.” It was so obvious that she was mocking and blaspheming the Word of God, but this was said on a popular Christian radio station. She is obviously a child of the Devil. And even if she was serious, NO ONE has ever been born again by praying some stupid prayer.
Nowhere in the inspired Holy Bible, do we find a Christian leading someone to Christ by asking them to: “repeat the following words after me.” Such nonsense is superstitious rubbish. I am very much against the FALSE DOCTRINE that you cannot be saved without praying, calling or asking God to do so. Jesus has already paid in full our debt of sin. 1st John 2:2, “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” In view of this passage of Scripture, I don't see how anyone could accept the Calvinist lie of Limited Atonement (i.e., the heresy that Jesus only died for the saints). Clearly, this passage teaches that Jesus died for the whole world, and not just for “our sins.”
Much needless confusion, worry and pain has been caused by requiring lost sinners to pray an unbiblical Sinner's Prayer to get to Heaven. In God's simple plan of salvation, He only requires that you (by faith) receive Christ's sacrifice on the cross as full-payment for your sins, believing that Jesus was buried, but then miraculously resurrected from the dead three days later. This is the only “Gospel” according to 1st Corinthians 15:1-6.
It is not wrong to ask God to forgive your sins to be saved, nor to accompany your faith with a prayer, but these things are NOT necessary nor required to get to Heaven. The big problem I have is with today's corrupt preachers who wickedly teach that you cannot get to Heaven unless you pray, call or ask, when the inspired Holy Bible plainly teaches that all you need to do is BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST (John 3:16, 6:28-29, 40; John 11:25-26; Acts 16:30-31; Galatians 3:26; 1st Thessalonians 4:14).
Any so-called “church” that perverts, complicates or confuses the simplicity that is in Christ is a cult. Sadly, most of our Baptist churches and religious colleges today have become cults, because they have strayed away from the true Gospel of free grace. Most of them now teach the Devil's lie of Lordship Salvation or Misunderstood Repentance. Others distort God's simple plan of salvation by foolishly teaching that you must pray, call or ask to be saved. May we all contend for the faith by making sure to expose those who tamper with the Gospel (Jude 1:3).
Dr. Bob Jones Sr. (1883-1968) said these wise words to set the matter straight about the Sinner's Prayer regarding the new birth...
“'Pray to be saved. Ask the Lord to save you.' This is what I heard a minister say to a convicted sinner who came forward for prayer at the close of an evangelistic service. Nowhere in the Bible are men told to pray to be saved. There are examples where men did pray and were saved. Men are told to repent, to believe, to obey the Gospel, but the Bible never says to pray for salvation. It does say that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, but nowhere does the Bible command men to pray to be saved. I think I know why, God, who made the human heart, knew that it was not necessary to tell convicted sinners to pray. If a sinner can see Jesus Christ on the cross, it is as natural for him to pray as it is for birds to sing or flowers to bloom. 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.'” —Dr. Bob Jones Sr., “Comments On Here And Hereafter,” chapter: Prayer And Praise, page 163; Bob Jones University Press, Inc., © 1942
Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001) also set this matter straight regarding the Sinner's Prayer...
