We Need More Respect For The Lord Today

Proverbs 19:23, “The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.”

I have heard umpteen foolish preachers falsely teach that “the fear of the Lord” doesn't literally mean to be afraid of God. Any pastor who says something that ignorant shouldn't be in the clergy! The inspired Holy Bible means exactly what it says. Only a fool doesn't fear God!

I was watching an episode of Modern Marvels today on YouTube about ice-cream. I remembered that I have some BLUE BELL vanilla ice-cream in my freezer and I am eating some now...lol. I love ice-cream! You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice-cream!!!

As I watched about ice-cream on Modern Marvels, the narrator talked about an ice-cram shop in Evanston, Illinois, where the famous “Sundae” desert was first invented in 1881. I was amazed by what he said. The narrator said the business owner wanted to draw more customers on Sunday's after church, so he invented his famous Sundae desert. But out of respect for the Lord, the owner changed the spelling of “Sunday” to “Sundae.” I thought that was beautiful, back when people in American society still respected and feared a holy God.

It's my 58th birthday today, amen! I thank God for the gift of life. I have had some close calls with death throughout my life, so I am very grateful to still be here. When I woke up today I thanked God for another day and another year of life. I went outside and water blasted my deep fryer which was caked up with oil after a year of use.

To celebrate my birthday, I just took two small containers of BLUE BELL vanilla ice-cream out of my freezer. I poured Smucker's MAGIC SHELL chocolate on top, which hardens when it contacts the very cold ice-cream. Then I sprinkled plenty of cinnamon over the top (I bought a big 16 ounce container of cinnamon). Then I put a dozen Maraschino cherries over my Sundae. And then I topped it off with a delectable layer of crushed nuts. Heaven came down!!!

They were also talking about Soft Serve at Dairy Queen in the episode of Modern Marvels. Dairy Queen has been serving Soft Serve since the 1940's. So, you know where I'm headed soon, Lord willing! Yummy in my tummy. God is so good to all of us!

There is little fear of God left in American society today, evidenced by the epidemic of crime and homelessness across the country. Psalms 36:1, “The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.” People just don't care about their neighbours anymore. Our incompetent U.S. federal and state governments don't care about the homeless. The politicians speak a bunch of rhetoric and spend hundreds of billions of dollars, but the money never gets to the poor people and homelessness just gets worse and worse!  I've never seen so many panhandlers at every major intersection in Pensacola! What a crying shame and horrible testimony upon our leaders and culture today! 

Meanwhile, NASA, Hollywood, professional sports, the travel industry and every other facet of our American culture today continues to spend trillions of dollars annually, but couldn't care less about society's problems. President Donald Trump cannot Make America Great Again by himself, with our entire spoiled rotten ungodly society working against him. Sadly, the vast majority of the American people are spoiled brats who make all of their political decisions based upon what works best for themselves and their own families. I haven't heard President Trump speak a single word about helping the homeless to find rehabilitation, jobs and ultimately, housing. Those people surviving on the streets need to be FORCED into rehab. No one has a right to become a public nuisance!

I'm telling you dear reader, and I hope I am wrong, but knowing what I know about the ungodly Federal Reserve Ponzi Scheme, I humbly think that the homelessness problem is just getting started across the United States. I see food prices continuing upward. Someday our American culture may become like the sordid dystopian 1973 science-fiction movie, “Soylent Green,” staring Charlton Heston, Leigh Taylor-Young and Edward G. Robinson (in his final film role). In the film strawberry preserves cost $500 a jar! A head of lettuce was almost unheard of, so rare. Beef? Forget it! Seeing pretty flowers were a thing of the past. I was shocked the other day that ribeye steak now costs $19 a pound at Walmart. A cartoon of eggs costs $10. Unbelievable! I've been eating chicken thighs and pork chops instead. I paid $5.75 for a large package of pork chops. I wouldn't expect food prices to drop any time soon.

A couple months ago I stopped by Burger King. Just a Whopper meal cost me $12. I haven't been back. The same goes for McDonald's. I'm not paying $11 for a Big Mack Meal! I remember back in the 1980's often buying McDonald's 2 Big Macs for $2 special. Now it's 2 Big Macs for a $15 ripoff! No thanks, I'll eat at home. For my birthday, I'm making homemade French Fries this afternoon from cut up Russet potatoes, and a homemade cheeseburger on my barbeque! Soylent Green! Just kidding. “Soylent Green” was food made from ground up humans in the movie...lol. This time I used hamburger from cows!

I cannot speak for others, but I definitely fear God. I have to give account to God in eternity for my life—my deeds, words and thoughts (Romans 14:10-12; Ecclesiastes 12:14; Matthew 12:36; Proverbs 24:12). I already have enough to answer to God for at the Judgment Seat of Christ, I don't want to add to the list (2nd Corinthians 5:10). Every human being ought to fear our Creator, if we live in rebellion against Him. If we have trusted in God's only begotten Son Jesus Christ, and we are living for the Lord to please our heavenly Father, then we need not live in fear of judgment. Hebrews 10:31, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” God only expects that we do our best with His help (Galatians 2:20).

Back in the early 1900's, it was a common practice for store owners to pull down their front window shades, to prevent people from window-shopping on Sundays instead of going to the Lord's house at a local church. People respected the Lord back then! Today, businesses don't even think twice about opening on Sundays. It is standard practice for churches to either cancel or reschedule their Sunday evening service to accommodate the annual Super Bowl game. This is America today, where God is made to sit in the back of the bus.

Our good God deserves so much better from all of us! I cringe every time I hear some wicked Hollywood actor taking God's name in vain, blaspheming the precious name of Jesus. Woe unto the wicked on Judgment Day. Deuteronomy 5:11, “Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” Jesus Christ's middle name is not “fu_king.” Nor is it the initial “H.” Woe unto the ungodly who blaspheme the holy name of the Messiah who died on a cross to pay for THEIR SINS! Can you imagine their shock and total horror in eternity, when God the Father requires them to give account for blaspheming the precious name of Jesus? It won't be a pretty sight!

Proverbs 19:23, “The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.” May we all purpose in our souls to fear, honor and respect God, who is our omnipotent loving Creator. There are 10,080 minutes in one week, have you thanked God with just one of them? Jesus is precious!

Someone recently sent me an email and asked, “How can we stop the New World Order?”. I kindly replied that we cannot stop the New World Order! The inspired King James Bible makes it very plain that there will be an Antichrist system (aka, New World Order). We read in the last inspired book of the Holy Bible...

Revelation 13:11-18, “And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.”

We further read in the inspired Holy Bible...

Revelation 17:10-12, “And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.”

The “five” kinds (I humbly believe) were the world powers of Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia and Greece. The “sixth” was Rome. Historically, these nations ruled the world at their respective times in human civilization. The “seventh” king will be the New World Order, which which the Bible teaches the “eight” (Antichrist) will arise. At present, there are several super powers in the world (e.g., Russia, China, United States and India), but there is no one world power (no one nation) that controls the entire planet. When the New World Order is complete (and it is obviously forming before our very eyes today), the Man of Sin will rise to power and will rule the world. You Cannot Stop The Book!

Slowly but surely we are headed toward a Cashless Society, which is what we read about in Revelation 13:15-18. Already, I make 95% of my financial transactions electronically. We really don't need hard currency anymore. With the incredible intriguing advances in Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) technology, we've just seen the beginning of what lies ahead for the world. You Cannot Stop The Book!

There WILL BE a New World Order! The Bible teaches in 2nd Corinthians 11:13-15 that Satan is an “imitator,” which is what the Greek word for transformed means in the following passage of Scripture:

2nd Corinthians 11:13-15, “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”

The world is fill of deadly lying False Prophets; namely, Joel Osteen, Billy and Franklin Graham, Rick Warren, Ray Comfort, Todd Friel, Paul Washer, John MacArthur, Marty Herron, Jeff Redlin, Sam Horn, Steve Pettit, Beth Moore, Joyce Meyer, Steven Furtick, Ken Ham, John Hagee, Paula White, Charles Stanley, James Dobson and countless more damnable false teachers who are wrong on God's simple plan of salvation! You Cannot Stop The Book!

All of the aforementioned toxic preachers pervert the Gospel of free grace—adding turning from your sins, following Jesus as 'Lord' of your life, living a lifestyle of repentance, becoming a Christ follower, faithfully running the Christian race, surrendering control of your life over to God and other nonsense—to get to Heaven. In sharp contrast, when the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas what he must do to be saved, they said in Acts 16:31b, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved...” Nothing more was required. If you believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay for your sins, and that He was buried, but then resurrected bodily from the dead three days later—and you receive that GOOD NEWS as full-payment for your sins and your only way to Heaven—then you are saved (1st Corinthians 15:1-8). You Cannot Stop The Book!

I hear fools sometimes challenge God in their sinful talk. For example: Atheist actor Robert DeNiro blasphemed God when he said: “If there is a God he has a lot to answer for.” Well, we'll see about that Mr. DeNiro, won't we? God has nothing to answer for, we do! Romans 9:20, “Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?” No human being has the right to place God on trial. We are the creatures, God is the Creator. And may I say, our Creator is a very good and fair God. The Lord is not to blame for the mess this world is in; humans are to blame because of our own sins. Sin always undermines any nation! Isaiah 64:8, “But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.” You Cannot Stop The Book!

So, be at peace dear reader, if your faith is in Jesus Christ alone as your Savior. We are already on the winning side in Christ Jesus! Now, I said earlier that there is nothing that we can do to stop the New World Order. We CAN fight against communism and tyranny and we should, but ultimately the Beast system of the coming Antichrist will succeed. However, at the end of the future 7-year Tribulation period, Jesus Christ Himself will return. In Bible theology we call this THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST. The Battle of Armageddon will be fought between the forces of Satan and God, and Jesus will put down and defeat Satan (the Dragon), the Antichrist (the Beast) and the False Prophet. So, in the end the New World Order will fail. But it will be the Lord Jesus Christ Himself who defeats Satan and his minions. You Cannot Stop The Book!

Jesus gave us this wonderful exhortation in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” While the heathen around us toil in worry and fear and love of wickedness, our dear Savior encourages us as God's saints to “BE OF GOOD CHEER,” knowing that through faith in Jesus we have already won the war. 1st John 5:4, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” Faith is the only righteous thing that I can do.

I Planted Some More Flowers Today

I went to Lowe's today and bought some more flower for my front yard. Praise God. I bought 2 Yellow Rose bushes, 2 Red Azalea bushes and 2 blue Diamond Delphinium plants. They are all perennials (i.e., they'll continue to grow every year). The flowers in my shopping cart are the one's that I bought. The other photos I took at Lowe's to share with you. God is so good.

I wanted to add some pretty colors to my front yard, so people will glorify God when they see the beauty, as I do. Psalms 19:1-3, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.”

Romans 1:20-21, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.” There's no such thing as an atheist.

Most people go through life day by day without ever taking time out to enjoy the splendid things of God's remarkable creation. I enjoy feeding an army of birds of all varieties in my back yard. They eat 10 pounds of birdseed in just 4 days. Wowza! I have a few beautiful red cardinals that I love to watch. I only saw hummingbirds once hanging out in my flowers. There are a few awesome owls in the neighborhood, and some amazing woodpeckers that I hear regularly at work. I love God's handiwork seen all throughout nature!

This earthly life is so short and will be over before we know it. Lord willing, I will turn 58 years old on March 5th, 2025 in just two days. I cannot believe how fast my life has gone! I was just randomly looking at the early age that many famous people have died. Here is a list of 434 famous people who died at only age 42. That is disturbing! If you have ever walked through a graveyard, which I have numerous times, then you've noticed an alarming number of people who died at a young age. Life is so fragile and unpredictable. I feel blessed by God to have had the opportunity and privilege to make it to age 57. One day at a time.

Very few people care to think about death until it happens. I am prepared to die and meet my Creator. I became prepared at age 13 when I became a born again child of God, by faith in Jesus Christ. John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” I have eternal life because Jesus is eternal life and I have Jesus in me. 1st John 5:20, “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”

And, although imperfect and a struggling sinner (Romans 7:14-25), God knows that I have labored day and night online since 2002 to preach the truth to help people for Christ. It's hard to believe that my Jesus-is-Savior.com ministry will be 23 years old in April of this year. I thank God and give Him ALL the credit and praise, for without Jesus we can do nothing. We are the branches, Jesus is the vine (John 15:1-5). It is so wonderful to be a Christian.

I Support President Trump, But I Don't Trust Him

I'm still not confident that President Trump will export millions of illegals. Time will tell. President Biden allowed over 10 million illegals to flood into the country. They're ALL criminals and should ALL be deported! Unfortunately, that will NEVER happen!!!

I am proud of Mr. Trump so far for the things he has achieved, but after having seen nothing but lying criminals, occultists and deceivers in the White House for the past 100 years, I have a difficult time believing that President Trump is going to make any dent in the sinister New World Order. I am confident that when President Trump leaves office, the NWO will be much stronger.

God only knows the incalculable damage that the next Democrat regime will do to our nation. I am concerned that Mr. Trump is just paying down our national debt, so that the next Democrat losers like Biden and Harris can spend even more of our taxpayer money recklessly. The Federal Reserve is still a corrupt institution, which we need to get rid of permanently.

The last time I voted was in 1999 for George W. Bush and I got burned. I sickeningly voted for a warmongering monster who mercilessly murdered 1,455,590 innocent people in Iraq, and murdered 343 firemen on 911, among the 2,997 total victims. As a testimony against our criminally complicit government, I will never vote again until the victims of 911 receive justice! The U.S. Justice Department refuses to investigate or prosecute 911, citing reasons of national security. The Bush administration are ABOVE THE LAW!

I simply don't trust Mr. Trump, because the Satanic powers operating behind the scenes blatantly control our federal government. They blatantly control the news media. The American people are waking up!

Sadly, I am fully convinced that the entire Trump presidency is a ruse to further deceive the American people, which only time will tell. That is what Dr. G. Edward Griffin suspects, and I fully share his suspicions.

Our text passage of Scripture teaches that there have been 6 kings so far, which I believe refers to world powers; namely, Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome. Rome fell in the 5th century AD. The seventh king I believe will be the New World Order (NWO), from which the Man of Sin (Antichrist) will arise. Thus, the NWO will march forward! Whatever positive changes, debt pay down, and permanent improvements that President Trump and his team make to the United States won't stop the coming NWO.

As God's children we have nothing to worry about. Jesus said in John 16:33b, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” We are already on the winning side, by faith in Jesus. Romans 8:37, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

Wow, what dirty liars! They're essentially telling you that they will lie to your face, if it is in their best financial interests to do so. Sadly, you'll find this type of unethical dishonest behavior on over 95% of websites today. Unbelievably, they somehow think that because they are informing you that they are lying to you, for their own financial profit, that makes it okay. Well, it's far from okay, it is WICKEDNESS!!!

Tragically, you just CANNOT trust or rely upon the internet for accurate and trustworthy information about anything. Shady sinners will lie, cheat, connive and steal from you. I have been horribly swindled by Priceline, Alamo Car Rental, Ben Clark's Music Store, Barry Waldrep's 'Banjo.com' Store, Amazon and other dishonest businesses. Once they get your money, that's when you find out that they're dirty thieves!

The first thing that I do now on all webpages that I visit for product reviews is to scroll down to the bottom of the web page, and look for some shady disclaimer where they shamefully admit to lying to manipulate people to get your money. Have they no shame? No, they are so calloused, ungodly and hard-hearted that they have no shame.

Don't even get me started about the paid professional liars at Fox news and CNN. I remember after the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center (WTC) in New York City. Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity shamefully bullied anyone who dared to question the official 9/11 Narrative from the White House. They demonized former Minnesota governor, Jesse Ventura. Jesse simply asked the $64,000 question: How do TWO planes bring down THREE buildings? The answer is obvious—they cannot! 9/11 was an INSIDE JOB orchestrated by our own White House. The Bush administration are complicity in the 9/11 attacks on the WTC. They had prior knowledge! Fox News more than any other media outlet whitewashed the crimes and coverup of 9/11.

I am so thankful that the omnipotent God of the universe and beyond—our awesome divine Creator—is a good and faithful and honest God. God is fair with mankind. This is exactly what the Bible means in Romans 1:11, “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” Unlearned preachers misunderstand this passage to mean that we ought not be ashamed of Jesus, but that is not what the Bible is teaching. This passage means that if you place your trust in Jesus as your personal Savior, He will never disappoint you. You can count on Jesus to keep His promise to save them that believe on Him. John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

God Can Do Exceedingly Above All That We Ask Or Think

Ephesians 3:14-21, “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”

My pastor taught on Ephesians chapter 3 today and I want to share with you some of his wisdom. This is a tremendous passage of inspired Scripture. Keep in mind that the Apostle Paul is incarcerated behind bars in prison while writing this remarkable epistle.

I love verses 14 and 15, which teach that every Christian believer is named after Jesus Christ, of whom the whole FAMILY in Heaven and earth is named. You may be an abandoned orphan here on earth dear friend, but if you are a born again child of God you have a surrogate FAMILY in Heaven and upon earth in the local New Testament church. More than anything else, I love going to church to be around my Christian FAMILY in the Lord.

Verse 16 speaks of being strengthened in might by the Holy Spirit in the INNER MAN. When you attend a funeral and view the deceased body in the casket, that is the outer man, not the inner man. The inner man is the soul and spirit when returned to God at death. Ecclesiastes 12:7, “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.” Death is a separation of the soul and spirit from the mortal body.

Verse 17 says that Christ dwells in our hearts BY FAITH. This is not speaking about the new birth, which is also by faith. From beginning to end, the entire Christian life is lived BY FAITH. 2nd Corinthians 5:7, “(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)” Although a seemingly small passage of Scripture, this single Bible verse embodies the entirety of Christianity. We are saved by faith alone without works (Ephesians 2:8-9). And by yielding to the indwelling Holy Spirit by faith, Jesus lives the Christian life through us (Galatians 2:20). We walk by faith, not by sight. If we stop praying because we don't see the results we expected, then we are walking by sight instead of by faith. If we walk by faith, we will continue to pray unconditionally.

Verses 18 and 19 speak of Christ's abiding love, which PASSETH ALL KNOWLEDGE. I love that! So oftentimes in life we cannot understand why things are the way they are, but the love God supersedes all things, so that regardless of what circumstances life may throw at us, we can always be at peace in Christ's love.

I love these next verses. Ephesians 3:20-21, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” What a remarkable Bible verse!!! I have received so many emails from discouraged saints, who tell me that they THINK God has abandoned them. They THINK that God is unfair toward them. They THINK that God doesn't answer their prayers. But this tremendous passage teaches that GOD IS ABLE TO DO EXCEEDINGLY ABOVE ALL THAT WE ASK OR THINK in our prayers. What a beautiful statement from the inspired Word of God!

The inspired Holy Bible teaches that God is able TO DO exceedingly above all that we think. God's omnipotent power is no limited by our finite human imagination. The moment we got saved, God indwelt us with His Holy Spirit. No one has any more of the Holy Spirit than anyone else. But the Holy Spirit may not have as much of us as He wants. It is you and me who limit the Holy One of Israel, and not God who is limited. It is our lack of faith that hinders the power of the Holy Spirit in our ministry.

Put another way, Jesus never turned anyone away empty handed, except those who came full of themselves! If a glass is already full of water, then there is no room for oil. In order to be filled with the Holy Spirit, we must first empty our self of our own selfish ideas, ambitions and thoughts. I want to be as narrow-minded as the King James Bible! The reason why our American society is in such a mess today is simply because people refuse to yield to God's Word. Instead of obeying the inspired Holy Bible, the vast majority of American society reject, blaspheme and ignore God's Word, to their own destruction.

Our great God is able to do EXCEEDINGLY ABOVE all that we ask or think. What an awesome Scripture passage in Ephesians 3:20! I don't know about you dear reader, but that encourages me to pray more. Whether God answers or not in visible ways is not my concern. God knows what is best and I trust Him. I have prayed all my life, and I admit that I haven't seen many answers to prayer. However, God continues to take care of me and bless my ministry labors online since 2002. So, I am not going to place God on trial in my mind, as the heathen world so often sinfully does. I echo the words of Job in Job 13:15, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.”

God Comforts Those Who Are Cast Down

2nd Corinthians 7:5-7, “For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears. Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus; And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.”

I read our wonderful text passage of Scripture today from the inspired King James Bible. I had never noticed this passage before. The Bible teaches that God comforts believers when we are cast down (depressed). The Greek word for the phrase “cast down” in this verse is tapeinos, which literally means, “depressed, that is, figuratively, humiliated.”

The Greek word for “comforteth” is parakaleo, which means, “to call near.” That is, when we are cast down in our mind and feelings, God draws near to us to solace our grieving soul.

Also, one of the ways that our good God comforts us as saints is with another believer (in this case Titus). 2nd Corinthians 7:6b, “God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus...” I love that! This Scripture passage confirms the precious truth God sometimes uses other saints to comfort us in our humiliation and depressed state of soul. The Holy Spirit works through believers. This is the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25).

Don't Become A 'Dead Sea' Christian

One of my favorite sermons by Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001) is titled, 'FILLED WITH HIS FULNESS.' In his sermon, Dr. Hyles teaches the biblical truth that God doesn't give the fruit of the Holy Spirit TO ME; but rather, THROUGH ME to give to you. That is a beautiful truth!

God never intended for us to become DEAD SEA saints. Let me explain. The Jordan River in Palestine flows downward into the Dead Sea, but the Dead Sea has no outlet. That is why the Dead Sea is so, well, dead. The Jordan River is a fast moving river, which makes it very muddy. You might remember the Old Testament story of Naaman the leper, whom the humble prophet Elisha told go bath in the muddy Jordan River seven times to be healed. Naaman was angry and humiliated, preferring to bath in the Damascus River that was clean. The reason why the Jordan River was so filthy is because it flows fast down south into the Dead Sea.

“What makes the Dead Sea dead? Because it is all the time receiving, never giving out anything. Why is it that many Christians are cold? Because they are all the time receiving, never giving out anything.” —Pastor D.L. Moody

The Dead Sea (997 feet deep) has the highest salt concentration of any body of water in the world (34%). The Dead Sea is so salty that you can easily float on its surface without even holding your breath. You don't want to become a Dead Sea Christian, where you take in blessings all the time, but never pass on any of those blessings to others. A mature Christian walks in the indwelling Holy Spirit, so that God can love, care and help others THROUGH that believer. That is why we read in Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Jesus lives the Christian life through us as born again children of God, by His Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9).

God Comforts His Hurting Children

Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus; And not by his coming only, but by the consolation wherewith he was comforted in you, when he told us your earnest desire, your mourning, your fervent mind toward me; so that I rejoiced the more.” The Apostle Paul spoke praises that not only had Titus comforted him and his companions, but the church at Corinth had comforted Titus when he was among them. We need encouragement and comfort in the Lord from each other as Christian believers.
