Matthew 6:7-8, “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.”
The inspired Holy Bible never ceases to amaze me! This is yet another remarkable passage of inspired Scripture which challenges the popular wrong idea that God is somehow impressed by our WORKS. I assure you that He is not! Isaiah 64:6, “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” Your very best human efforts, sacrifice and good works dear reader do not please your Creator. Faith please God. Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
If you want to go to Heaven someday when your time on earth is ended, then you must have FAITH. Galatians 3:26, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” No one has ever been saved by WORKS. Romans 4:4-5, “Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”
The corrupt mindset of the heathen religious world is that God will hear them in response to their hours of praying, earnest sacrifice and many good works performed. But nothing could be further from reality! In Matthew 7:21-23 we find a horrific true story about a group of people who died in their sins without Christ. They were shocked when Jesus denied knowing them. They boasted of their “many wonderful works,” preaching in Jesus' name and even casting out devils they said, all done in “Jesus' name.” They were very sincere, “but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12b). The highway to Hell is paved with good intentions!
Repeatedly in the Word of God we are taught that only FAITH pleases God. It requires faith to ask God in prayer for something. Prayer in itself is faith, if said from the heart and not recited from a dead prayer book. When God doesn't seem to answer, which is often the case if you talk with other Christians, it requires greater faith to keep on praying. Jesus taught on this very subject in Luke 18:1-8. Amazingly, God likes importunity in our prayer life. That is, He deliberately seems to ignore us oftentimes, to test our faith; we are taught to persist in asking God for whatever it is that we desire. A faith MUST be tested!
If you truly desire to please God friend, then always do all that you do by faith in Jesus Christ...
Galatians 2:16, “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
This world is full of foolish hellbound religious people who live from day to day doing good works, serving their church and sacrificing financially for the cause. Yet, they have never been 'BORN AGAIN' which is required by God to enter into God's Kingdom (John 3:1-7).
