Matthew 16:22-23, “Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.”
I was telling my wife today that the Devil, if we're not very careful, can get our thinking all turned around backwards as Christians. That is why Jesus called the Apostle Peter "Satan" in Matthew 16:23. Peter, a redeemed child of God, was thinking like the Devil. I wrote an article many years ago called, "Satanic Christians."
Many years ago a well known pastor had gone into the horrible sin of adultery. The pastor had sex with a young woman who was just shy of legal age. When he got caught and imprisoned, many church members wrote scathing letters of criticism to the local Attorney General's office for persecuting God's man. So, the Prosecutor reluctantly released the pastor's phone texts, which told the young girl, "This is what Jesus wants, for us to be together." The disillusioned church members needed to see for themselves how corrupt their pastor's thinking had become because of giving place to sin. This is what the inspired Scripture means in Romans 6:12, “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.” We have a choice. We can either choose to walk in the Holy Spirit to obey God's Word; or we can choose to foolishly walk in the flesh to fulfil the lusts thereof (Galatians 5:25)
Now, this is an extreme example of wrong thinking. But I explained to my wife that churches everywhere today are also guilty of thinking backwards on umpteen issues, especially concerning God's simple plan of salvation and modesty. Sadly, you simply cannot talk rationally to these idiot pastors today. The Bible calls such foolish pastors, “brutish,” which means “lacking good sense.” Jeremiah 10:21, “For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.” Most Baptist churches today aren't growing in the Lord, they are instead as rotting corpses that swell with toxic gas, decay and stench. Today's churches are spiritually dead!
Whenever someone permits sin to reign in their daily life, out of necessity (to live with them self) they have to somehow justify their sin. We see another classic example of this in Genesis 3:1-7, when the evil serpent tempted Eve to sin. Eve sinfully reasoned with herself that since the forbidden fruit looked good, would likely taste good and make her wise, it was okay to eat the fruit. She was subverted in her own foolish thinking. Proverbs 16:25, “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
In churches everywhere today, there are foolish pastors and congregations who've been corrupted in their minds. Just like foolish Eve, the Apostle Peter and the fallen pastor who sinned with the young girl—they all allowed their thinking to become corrupted. This is why for many years now my favorite passage of Scripture has been Proverbs 4:23, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” That means to always be on guard!
When I and my wife Alice attended Family Baptist Church in Pensacola in 2025, their immature pastor Brad Moffett called us into his office to harshly censure my website ministry. He had a big problem with my Bible preaching against women wearing pants, because his worldly wife wears pants. It is wickedness!!! This is the ministry article I wrote that really offended him and his wife. I still stand 100% behind that article I wrote, which faithfully contends for the Christian faith (Jude 1:3).
Pastor Brad Moffett actually said that since a man who walks in the Spirit won't fulfill the lusts of the flesh, it shouldn't even matter if his wife wears pants. Unreal! That's like saying that it's okay to steal things that aren't locked up securely, since the owner should have secured his possessions. Folks, Pastor Brad is thinking like Satan!!! Proverbs 28:26, “He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.” What an ungodly pastor! Do you see how choosing to live in sin affects one's beliefs?
The Apostle Peter sincerely had the best intentions, not wanting to see His friend Jesus crucified on a cross, but Jesus rebuked and called Peter “Satan” for thinking so foolishly!
We see another biblical example of people whose thinking had become corrupt in Matthew 7:21-23. They sincerely thought that Jesus would be pleased with their “many wonderful works.” They sincerely expected to enter into Heaven. Yet, as Jesus said in Luke 13:24b, “for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.” You don't get saved by doing good works, nor by ceasing from doing bad works (aka, the deadly “repent of your sins” heresy to be saved). You get saved by simply ceasing from all of your own works, and resting completely in Christ's death, burial and resurrection (Hebrews 4:10-11; 1st Corinthians 15:1-6).
And yet another biblical example we find in Proverbs 30:20, “Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.” This woman's mind had become so corrupted in her thinking, that she no longer saw adultery as a sin. We see this ungodly type of wrong thinking everywhere today in 2025!
That is exactly why our wicked U.S. Supreme Court for 49 years (1973-2022) legalized the horrible sin of murder, abortion. The arrogant members of the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against God, that a fetus is not yet a human being, so it's okay to kill the child. Abortion is NOT healthcare as wicked liberals claim, it is first-degree cold-blooded, calculated, premeditated MURDER (Exodus 20:13). I sadly knew in April of 2022, when I heard in the news that Roe vs. Wade had finally been overturned, that the demonic 'Abortion Pill' was about to go viral, so that Roe vs. Wade would no longer be necessary. Tragically, in 22 states you don't even need a prescription from a doctor to obtain the Abortion Pill.
Think of all the millions of jealous girlfriends, malicious lunatics, irresponsible boyfriends and worried parents who will secretly “slip” the Abortion Pill into a pregnant woman's drink or food to unknowingly MURDER the child. It is already happening...
Dear reader, ALWAYS stay on guard against sin, corruption and compromise! Proverbs 4:23, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” This is why we all need to abide continually in the inspired King James Bible. This is why we need to listen to solid fundamentalist Bible preaching regularly. Turn off the losers like Joel Osteen, Steven Furtick, Greg Laurie, John MacArthur, Franklin Graham, Jeff Redlin and Robert Jeffress!!! These infidels are corrupted in their theology and will take you to Hell with them forever.
Woe unto the wicked! Isaiah 13:11, “And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.”
