Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
If I buy you a gift for your birthday, does your attitude toward anything matter? No. All you need to do is receive the gift. Eternal life is a free gift from God. You can simply take it by faith in Jesus Christ. If you need to have a changed of attitude toward sin, then it cannot be a gift. Behavior modification has nothing to do with the Gospel
I am so sick and tired of hearing corrupt preachers say that until you are ready to turn away from a lifestyle of sinning, you are not ready to be saved. That is bizarre!
Jesus paid for our gift of eternal life with His precious blood (1st Peter 1:18-19). IT IS A GIFT!!! You don't need to have a certain mindset to receive that gift, just simply take it!
To help understand what the Gospel is and is not, compare it to a birthday present. Someone has already paid for it! All you need to do is accept it.
