Genesis 3:1-7, “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.”
I was thinking this afternoon about something. I thought about how God gave so much to Adam and Eve. God gave them the gift of life, by creating them. God gave them the gift of perfect health. God gave them a paradise in the Garden of Eden, such as the world since has never seen or known. God gave Adam and Eve a carefree life. They had plenty of good food. They had plenty of clean abundant fresh water. They had the tree of life, and all the fruits of the different trees in the garden, from which they could freely eat, except the Tree of Knowledge. God gave everything good to Adam and Eve, and it was a perfect life.
But then that ole serpent, the Devil, Satan (Revelation 20:2) came along and seduced Eve with his damnable lies. That is what the Devil does, he lies and deceives people (John 8:44). The serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field (Genesis 3:1). That ole snake came only to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10). The serpent told Eve that God was withholding information from her. It said that God knew if Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, they would instantly become “as gods.” Satan is a beautiful liar! The serpent convinced Eve that God was not the gracious and good God they thought they knew; but rather, He was a conniving selfish God Who felt threatened by humanity, and deceived them. Eve believed the lies, motivated by her desire to be equal with God, to make her own decisions of what is good and evil.
This is what the U.S. Supreme Court did in 1973 when they legalized abortion. The Holy Bible declares in Exodus 20:13, “Thou shalt not kill.” But the U.S. Supreme Court desired to put themselves in the place of God, as did Eve, making their own decision of what is good and evil. Whereas God calls killing the innocent evil murder, the U.S. Supreme Court called it “good.” Ungodly liberals call murdering an innocent human being in the womb “pro-choice.” Did you ever stop to realize that abortionists call Bible-believing Christian “anti-abortion,” which has negative connotations. But they call themselves “pro-choice,” which sounds nicer and more pleasant. Why don't they call themselves what they really are, “anti-life”? Why aren't Bible-believing Christians called “pro-life”? We ought to call abortionists, “baby-killers”!
I could mention hundreds of evils, which mankind has decided to call good instead. Isaiah 5:20, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Americans have blood on our hands. OUR government does what they do in OUR name, and with OUR money, so it is OUR business, and we have a right and duty to voice OUR protests! Alcoholism is not a “disease,” it is a sin. Homosexuals were not “born that way,” they chose to be that sinful way. Homosexuality is not an “alternate lifestyle,” it is sin. Lying to and exploiting customers is not “the industry standard,” it is a sin. Hollywood actors committing sin for show on the movie camera is not “clean fun,” it is wicked sin (Romans 1:32). Woe unto America!
Getting back to the main point of this article, God gave everything good to Adam and Eve, withholding nothing from them. The vile serpent came along and lied to Eve, slandering God and deceiving her on multiple levels. Eve chose to sin, buying into the serpent's lies. When all was said and done, Adam and Eve lost everything! They were evicted from the Garden of Eden, paradise lost! Physical and emotional pain was introduced to them for the first time, and would now become a permanent part of their miserable earthly lives. Eve would suffer horribly during child bearing. Adam would labor in toil and sweat for the rest of his life. The human race would be cursed from that day forward. Death had entered into human civilization (Romans 5:12).
Having said all that as introduction, now consider dear reader that the serpent merely went his quiet way. The damage was done! Whereas God had given Adam and Eve everything in His love, the serpent gave them nothing in return for his lies! The serpent left them with chaos, calamity and condemnation!!! John 10:10, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” After doing major damage in the lives of Adam and Eve, the serpent never reared his ugly head again.
That is the way so many malicious people are today. Ungodly people will meddle in someone's troubled marriage, encouraging and causing a divorce, and then selfishly go their merry way. I always recommend for Christian ladies to reject any advice from a divorced female. Divorced women almost always encourage other women to divorce too. Misery loves company! We live in a wicked generation today of home-wrecking whores in America!!! Feminism is not about women's rights, it is about rebellion against God in the marriage and home. Every godly women ought to declare herself as the sworn enemy of feminism!
Psalm 1:1, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” Proverb 1:10, “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.” You should memorize both of these vital passages of Scripture. God only knows how many divorces have been caused by ungodly counsel. Singer Amy Grant divorced her husband Gary Chapman after 16 years, and remarried singer Vince Gill before the ink was even dry on her divorce papers. Years later she blamed her ungodly decision to quit her marriage on “bad counsel.” Regardless, she made the decision! Eve had no one to blame but herself. Adam had no one to blame but himself. I don't care who advised you to do evil, you've got no one to blame but yourself. Proverb 1:10, “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.” Ultimately, we all do what we want to do, and then look for reasons to justify our decision; whether it was right or wrong had little to do with our decision. This is our sinful human nature.
There are dozens of spiritual lessons that we can learn from the serpent's interaction with Eve. If Eve could relive that moment in history under the Tree of Knowledge, I guarantee you that she would have yelled “deadly snake” as loud as she could! She would have ran away as fast as possible! Eve would have ran to go get Adam. She probably would have grabbed a big stick and beat that serpent over the head! Eve's big mistake was that she gave an audience to the serpent at all. We must not walk (take heed) to the counsel of the ungodly.
You married ladies—when someone starts talking about getting a divorce, you need to tell them: “Shame on you!” and avoid them after that. If need be, tell them to get away from you, because you don't want to hear their ungodly advice! Women file for divorce more than TWICE the rate of men, because as the Bible says, they are the weaker vessel (1st Peter 3:7), and ungodly people with bad advice abound all around us in the world, even in the churches! If you heed their destructive advice, I guarantee you that when all is said and done they will go their merry way, just like the vile serpent did after ruining Eve's life.
Our awesome God deserves so much better from us. Satan has never done anything for you. The abortion crowd has never done anything for you, except murder your own flesh and blood if you let them! The homosexual community has never done anything for you, except teach your children the Devil's lie that it's okay to commit sin. The world never meets us halfway on anything! The no good lying serpent came only to destroy Eve's life, but God had been good to them, giving them everything.
