The demon-possessed maniac of Gadarene ran around naked. There is a direct correction between how right with God a person is and modesty. A woman who goes to the beach in a bikini doesn't walk closely with God. There is a mindset that goes with walking with the Lord. I love something that Pastor Jack Hyles said in a sermon titled, “Unjust In The Least.” He said: “If you want to never do anything that is terribly wicked, then you never do anything that is slightly wicked.” A woman who will walk around in public in her underwear (which is all a bathing suit is), has a sinful heart. By wearing hardly any clothes in public, a woman tells everybody:
- She doesn't fear God (Psalms 36:1)
- She has low moral standards (I Timothy 2:9)
- She doesn't care or understand how immodesty adversely affects men (I Peter 2:11)
- She is more concerned with external beauty than inner beauty (I Peter 3:1-4)
- She wants (or doesn't care) if men lust and commit adultery with her (Matthew 5:28)
- She is cheap (Proverbs 31:10)
- She is wearing the attire of a harlot (Proverbs 7:10)
“You show me a person to whom Heaven becomes real, and this Book becomes real, and God becomes real, and Hell becomes real, and salvation becomes real, and I'll show you a person that will so much the more serve God as he sees the day approaching!” —Pastor Jack Hyles, “So Much The More As Ye See The Day Approaching”
