Did Pastor Harry Ironside Teach Lordship Salvation?

Romans 4:4-6, “Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,”

Someone recently wrote to me, suggesting that Pastor Harry Ironside (1876-1951) taught Lordship Salvation. Dr. Ironside never turned toward a moderate Calvinist theology (as Moody Bible Institute false claims). I have to concede that Pastor Ironside made some disturbing statements, as do nearly all preachers. We must remember that Harry Ironside was only a mortal man, and his writings are not the authority. Only the inspired Word of God is our authority in all matters of life, faith and doctrine.

Here is Dr. Ironside's commentary on Luke 18:18-30 about the Rich Young Ruler, which one of my web visitors thought might indicate he taught Lordship Salvation. If you notice carefully in the following quote from Pastor Ironside, he plainly says that the young man didn't have to turn from his sins to be saved. Yet, Ironside says that Jesus was testing this young unsaved man, to see if he would let Jesus be the Lord of his life. By refusing to let Christ be his Lord, Dr. Ironside says it hindered him from getting saved...

...the Lord now put this young man to the test by saying, “Yet lackest thou one thing.” Your life may be outwardly pure; it may be comparatively clean; in the eyes of your fellow-men you may be a very noble personage, but if you are living for self rather than for God, you are under the condemnation of the law. The Lord Jesus tested this young man in this way, “Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow Me.” Did He mean that the way to obtain eternal life is by giving everything one possesses to the poor? Not at all; but He was testing this young man, who was egotistic and self-satisfied. Certainly there was nothing to be said against his moral character, but his life had been a selfish life; he had vast possessions; he had great riches, and men and women were living in poverty all about him; yet he continued to go on as he was and did not realize that God had entrusted him with this wealth that he might use it for Him. If God entrusts wealth to you, He makes you a steward, and you are to use your riches to the glory of God and to the blessing of mankind. If we fully surrender our lives and our possessions to the Lord Jesus we shall not be concerned about ourselves; we shall be concerned about the needs of others, and our one object will be to glorify the One who has redeemed us. So the test here is, will you let Christ be Lord of your life? We read that when the ruler heard these words he was very sorrowful, for he had great possessions, and he turned away. He did not meet the test which the Lord put to him. He refused the path of subjection to Christ. Many have taken the same course. It is not wrong to be rich, but it is a terrible thing if riches keep you out of heaven. God giveth us richly all things to enjoy, but it is a catastrophe if one becomes so occupied with earthly treasure that he misses the path of eternal life as this man did.

I don't like the phraseology that Dr. Ironside used, but if you read all of his writings, and understand that he was 100% free grace Gospel, then it becomes obvious that he's simply saying Jesus wanted this young man to SUBMIT to him so he would get saved. I think Romans 10:3-4 sums up exactly what Pastor Ironside was trying to say. Romans 10:3-4, “For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” This young rich man was attempting to merit his way to Heaven through keeping the law of God. Jesus used the law the way it was intended to be used, as a measuring-stick, by which when compared men fall woefully short and see their need for the Savior. 

Did H.A. Ironside Teach Commitment Salvation?

One writer has recently suggested that H. A. Ironside's view of repentance is the same as that of modern Commitment Salvation (i.e., Lordship Salvation) advocates (John F. MacArthur, Jr., The Gospel According to Jesus, p.160). The impression was given that Ironside taught Commitment Salvation. 

This surprised me. I read Ironside's work Except Ye Repent as part of my work on my doctoral dissertation. I concluded that he held to the change-of-mind view of repentance, not the turn-from-sins position. 

Did Ironside indeed teach Commitment Salvation? 

I went back and re-read Ironside. 

Here is what I found. 

Ironside did, on rare occasions, make statements which, if taken by themselves, could be taken to imply a mild form of Commitment Salvation. He said, for example: 

Shallow preaching that does not grapple with the terrible fact of man's sinfulness and guilt, calling on "all men everywhere to repent," results in shallow conversions; and so we have myriads of glib-tongued professors today who give no evidence of regeneration whatever. Prating of salvation by grace, they manifest no grace in their lives. Loudly declaring they are justified by faith alone, they fail to remember that "faith without works is dead"; and that justification by works before men is not to be ignored as though it were in contradiction to justification by faith before God. (Except Ye Repent, [New York: Loizeaus Bros., 1937],p. 11) 

I consulted the immediate and greater context and found that this quote does not prove that Ironside shared the Commitment Salvation view of repentance. The sentences cited are ambiguous as to exactly what Ironside meant. He could have meant that these conversions, though shallow, were real. However, even if he meant that they were false conversions as evidenced by a lack of works, that does not at all prove that he held to Commitment Salvation. We must look elsewhere to see what Ironside had to say on that subject. 

In his book Full Assurance Ironside answers the question of whether we should look within ourselves for our assurance of salvation: 

Looking into your own heart for a ground of confidence is like casting the anchor in the hold of a ship. Cast it outside and let it go down into the great, tossing ocean of strife and trouble, until it grips the rock itself. Christ alone is the rock, and He is the manifestation of the infinite love of God for sinners. (Full Assurance, [Chicago: Moody Press, 1968, revised edition of the 1937 original, pp.120-21). 

Are those the words of one promoting Commitment Salvation? Surely they are not. 

When Ironside spoke of the need to "grapple with the terrible fact of man's sinfulness and guilt," there is no reason to assume that he meant that unbelievers need to commit themselves to the Lordship of Christ and turn from their sins to be saved. Elsewhere he taught that one had to recognize his own sinfulness and need of grace (Except Ye Repent, pp. 11-12, 34), turn from all other confidences and place his faith solely in Jesus Christ (p. 175), and go from rejecting to accepting Jesus and His Gospel (pp.53, 174). 

That is not the Commitment Salvation view of repentance. 

Ironside actually taught a Free Grace view of the Gospel. He said: 

Repentance is the very opposite of meritorious experience. It is the confession that one is utterly without merit, and if he is ever saved at all it can only be through the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ, "who gave himself a ransom for all." Here is firm footing for the soul who realizes that all self-effort is but sinking sand. Christ alone is the Rock of our salvation." (Except Ye Repent, p.36) 

And again:  

If these pages fall into the hands of any anxious, troubled soul, desirous of finding the way of peace and earnestly seeking to be right with God, let me urge such a one to give up all struggling. Just believe God. Tell Him you are the sinner for whom the Saviour died, and trust in Christ alone for salvation. His own word is clear and simple: "Verily, verily I say unto you, he that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death into life" (John 5:24). (Except Ye Repent, p.189) 

If one is not careful he can misrepresent an author by selectively quoting him. [One could even selectively quote a Commitment Salvation writer and make it appear that he held to Free Grace Salvation.] Such is the case here. It is misrepresenting him to suggest that Dr. Ironside taught Commitment/Lordship Salvation. He would be deeply grieved by such a suggestion. Let the record show that Dr. Ironside was a proponent of Free Grace Salvation and assurance based on our infallible Savior, not our fallible works.

The following beautiful quote from Dr. Ironside clearly evidences that he believed in a free grace view of the Gospel, and not the Devil's lie of Lordship Salvation...

“The Gospel is not a call to repentance, or to amendment of our ways, to make restitution for past sins, or to promise to do better in the future. These things are proper in their place, but they do not constitute the Gospel; for the Gospel is not good advice to be obeyed, it is good news to be believed. Do not make the mistake then of thinking that the Gospel is a call to duty or a call to reformation, a call to better your condition, to behave yourself in a more perfect way than you have been doing in the past… 

Nor is the Gospel a demand that you give up the world, that you give up your sins, that you break off bad habits, and try to cultivate good ones. You may do all these things, and yet never believe the Gospel and consequently never be saved at all.” [emphasis added] —Pastor Harry A. Ironside, from the sermon: 'What Is The Gospel?'

Read what Dr. Ironside said in his Gospel tract, ANOTHER GOSPEL? ...

“When anyone comes promising salvation to those ‘who make full surrender' of all that they have to God, and who 'pay the price of full salvation' he is preaching another gospel, for the price was paid on Calvary's cross and the work that saves is finished. It was Christ Jesus who made the full surrender when He yielded His life on Calvary that saves us, not our surrender in any way to Him.” [emphasis added] —Pastor Harry A. Ironside, from the Gospel tract, 'Another Gospel'

With all these truths in mind, it is obvious to me that regarding his commentary for Luke 18:18-30, Dr. Ironside was simply saying that money often hinders rich people from submitting to Christ's righteousness by faith. Salvation requires an act of submission to God's righteousness through faith. We read that in Romans 10:3. I think that is all Pastor Ironside meant. To claim more is to go against his many writings showing that he didn't believe in Calvinist, turning from sins, nor Lordship Salvation. 

Moreover, Harry Ironside would be the first to admit that he is not the authority, the inspired Word of God is. Psalms 118:8, “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” Jeremiah 17:5, “Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.”

Pray Without Ceasing

1st Thessalonians 5:15-19, “See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit.”

There is not three more powerful words in all the inspired Word of God than: “PRAY WITHOUT CEASING.” God wants us to pray continually, as things and people come to our remembrance. Carefully notice that God sandwiches praying continually, between two verses about rejoicing and being thankful in all things. These things all go hand in hand. The Christian who doesn't rejoice, who doesn't have a thankful heart of gratitude toward God, won't pray either! So always be thankful for God's blessings in your life. 

Always rejoice no matter what happens. PRAISE THE LORD ANYHOW!!! The Bible calls this a “sacrifice of praise.” Hebrews 13:15, “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” Anybody can praise God when things are going good; but it is a sacrifice to praise God when you just lost your job, your child died, you learned you have cancer, your wife divorced you, your husband ran off with another woman, you received an unexpected bill for thousands of dollars, et cetera. Brother Lester Roloff used to have a sign on his office desk that read: PRAISE GOD ANYHOW! That's exactly what it meant, offering up “a sacrifice of praise” to God when things go wrong! REJOICE ALWAYS, AND AGAIN, I SAY REJOICE!!!

Some believers prefer to use prayer lists, which is fine. Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001) encourages the use of prayer lists in his helpful book titled: “Exploring Prayer With Jack Hyles.” The Bible does not mandate using prayer lists. It is optional. Dr. Hyles believed that Christians are less likely to pray as they ought, if they don't make a prayer list to follow. It is a personal preference. The important thing is to PRAY, PRAY, PRAY.

I humbly believe there are a few reasons why God told us to “PRAY WITHOUT CEASING”: 

1. We're always thinking of people and situations, which necessitates praying as we think of them.
2. God wants us to live with a servant's heart, thinking of others (Philippians 2:3).
3. We should always depend upon the Lord, for without Him we can do nothing (John 15:5).
4. Not praying is pride. God wants us to humble ourselves (James 4:6).
5. God loves us and always hears a righteous man's prayers (1st Peter 3:12).

The Bible calls prayer “labor” in Colossians 4:12. God has promised to “reward” every saint's individual labors (1st Corinthians 3:8). Prayer is one of the ways that a believer can lay up treasures for yourselves in Heaven” (Matthew 6:19-20). So as we go about the routine of your day, let us remember to pray about the people and things that come to our mind. We should pray for our loved ones. Pray for our enemies. Pray for our pastors. Pray for our leaders. Pray for our ministries. Literally, the Holy Bible tells us to pray about “every thing” (Philippians 4:6). There is no power in prayer; but rather, God is all-powerful (omnipotent) and prayer is “asking” God for something. Prayer is not praise, thankfulness or worship; they are all different. Prayer must be asking God for something! Prayer is not preparation for the greater work, prayer is the greater work! 

Thankfulness Leads To Holiness

Romans 1:20-21, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,”

Every time we sit down and eat, we ought to thank God for our food. I never eat without thanking God for my meal. I audibly thank God if I am alone. If I am sitting alone in public, I silently in my heart thank God. If I'm with others, than I will audibly say, “Thank you God for this food!” Doing so sanctifies our food and makes it a holy act. Never eat anything without thanking God, because many people don't have any food in this world. Hundreds of millions of people are still starving in the world today in 2020...

Thankfulness leads to holiness. Our text passage from Romans 1:2-21 teaches that having an unthankful spirit leads to unholiness. All these young people rioting across America in May and June of 2020 is because they are a bunch of unthankful brats, destroying and burning the hard-earned businesses and property of other people, even shedding their innocent blood in some cases! There is a direct link between thanking God for the food you eat and drink, and holiness...

Romans 14:6, “He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.”

How's your walk with God dear friend? I can tell just by your level of thankfulness toward God in your life, what your spiritual CONDITION is. This is not one's POSITION in Christ, which is by faith alone. One's POSITION as God's redeemed child has nothing to do with obedience or gratitude as a believer. Ingratitude is more infectious than stage 4 cancer!

I had a Facebook “Friend” that I recently “Unfriended.” I accepted him at first because he quoted a few Bible verses on his Timeline. But then he started sending me vulgar Facebook messages, incessantly using the “F” word (and I don't mean fabulous). At first I was patient and told him I was praying for him. He then began to slander fundamental Baptist preachers. I still gave him some room to be human. He kept saying how much he hated life and wanted to kill himself. I told him that I loved him in Christ, and gave him a bunch of spiritual helps to guide him, to which he arrogantly replied with more Smart Alecky foul comments. I went to change his status from “Friend” to “Acquaintance,” to distance myself from his cancerous negativity, and mistakenly “Unfriended” him, but was glad I accidentally got rid of him, because he is infected with hatred, ingratitude and a bitter spirit toward God and man. I have to protect my spirit! Proverbs 4:23, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

I am not a perfect person, and I don't claim to be a good Christian, but God knows that I have a very thankful heart. I am so blessed by God in so mnay ways. My wife divorced me in 2006. I lost my 3,500 square foot home as a consequence. I never saw my pets again, which I had loved for years. I never saw my home again, the judge wouldn't allow me to return. I went from working on my website ministry one day, to never stepping into my home again the next day, literally. I lost my home to pay $64,000 in attorney's fees, in a bitter lengthy divorce and legal nightmare that ensued. 

I was severely rear-ended by a church bus in 1992, which led to Cervical Degenerative Disk Disease (stenosis and displaced disks in my neck) in 2004, with added radiculopathy (radiating pain in my arms and legs) due to a fall at work in 2005. I underwent two major neck surgeries in 2009 and 2010, without a wife or girlfriend, or even a family member by my side through it all. I bought two barbecues to commit suicide in 2009, but never followed through with it. I crawled into Harvest Baptist Church on Guam in 2013 for their spiritual help and desperately needed love and emotional support, but then rejected me several months later because I befriended them with THE TRUTH. I told THE TRUTH that the modern Bible revisions are corrupted by Satan. I told THE TRUTH, which God will reward me for in eternity!!! God wants us to SPEAK UP, but the Devil wants us to SHUT UP!!!

I told THE TRUTH at the Harvest Baptist Church on Guam that Lordship Salvation is a counterfeit gospel, and that Dr. John MacArthur is a false prophet! I had lost everything in my life by 2015!!! Yet, through it all (and my life is still a mess in 2020), I want to tell the world that GOD IS GOOD!!! God is so good and more than amazing! I am a redeemed, born-again, saved, blood-washed, child of God! My name is recorded in Heaven in the Lamb's Book of Life. I have eternal life dwelling in me, because I have Jesus as my personal Savior!!! I am so thankful to God for His salvation, assurance, love, food, blessings, website ministry and the blessed indwelling Holy Spirit who comforts me continually. I LOVE JESUS!!! 

I AM THANKFUL TO THE LORD FOR EVERYTHING. 1st Thessalonians 5:18, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” The Bible doesn't say to give thanks to God “FOR” everything, but “IN” everything! I'm not thankful to God that I have constant neck pain, but I am thankful despite my neck pain. I am thankful that God uses my neck pain to humble me, and to bless my ministry. As with Paul's thorn in the flesh (which I think was poor eyesight), God uses my chronic neck pain to keep me humble, as he blesses my online ministry abundantly. I am thankful that I am not confined to a wheelchair. I am thankful that I have prescription pain medications to help alleviate my pain. 

I am thankful that I have a roof over my head. I am thankful for the good food that I have, and for dark chocolate with caramel, and for cold fresh water to drink. I am thankful for my eyes, even though I need glasses to see sometimes. I am thankful for my mind, that I can think and write meaningful articles to influence others for Christ. I am thankful for thousands of things. God's blessings are innumerable!!! Yet, so many people choose to dwell upon what they don't have, and to complain, which is a horrible sin against God. God hates complaining!!! The Hebrews age 21 and older died in the Wilderness, because of the constant bellyaching to Moses and Aaron. 

I dare not focus on the things I don't have in life. I wish I had a wife. I hate living alone. I was in the local San Jose grocery store last night and overheard a young woman saying that she likes girls. I said, “I like girls too, can I be your boyfriend?” She said, “No, I like girls.” This is a crazy and wicked sicko generation! Hopefully one day I'll find a woman who likes men, and she'll like me, and I'll have someone to share my life with. It has been 14 long and lonely years since I was abandoned by my former wife, but God is with me and He keeps me going by faith. Jesus said in Mark 11:22, “Have faith in God.” We should all have 'THE GRATITUDE ATTITUDE.' Whatever your spiritual dilemma may be, the best way to turn it around dear friend, is to start thanking God IN EVERY THING!!!

Black Lives Matter Is A Communist Front Group

Isaiah 3:12, “As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.”

We are seeing children (youth) rule over our society with anarchy. Was reading the inspired Holy Bible at school each day to children so bad? It was the first head of the World Health Organization (WHO) who made this disturbing statement:

“To achieve world government, it is necessary to remove from the minds of men their individualism, loyalty to family tradition, national patriotism, and religious dogmas.” —George Brock Chisholm, in a Speech given at the, Conference on Education, Asilomar, California, September 11, 1954

Of the six judges who removed and banned the Word of God (since 1962) from children's lives at school each day, four of those judges were Freemasons! At the innermost core of the cult, Freemasons worship Lucifer, and are responsible for the subversion of our nation. Yes, ladies and gentleman, Satanists are in control. Satanists are in control. If that seems nutty to you, just flip over any U.S. one dollar bill and see all the Masonic occult symbols.

According to SourceWatch, a front group is “an organization that purports to represent one agenda while in reality it serves some other party or interest whose sponsorship is hidden or rarely mentioned.” In other words, a front group claims to represent a group of people while actually serving another group. Black Lives Matter is such a group. It claims to represent black people and their struggle against racial injustice, but in reality, it is a Communist front group. How do we know?

Patrisse Cullors, co-founder of Black Lives Matter, plainly admits that she and Alicia Garza, another co-founder, are Marxists. A Marxist, for those who do not know, is a person who holds to the philosophy of Karl Marx, who penned “The Communist Manifesto” in 1848 with Friedrich Engels.

Cullors, on the YouTube video “BLM Co-Founder Patrisse Cullors ‘We are Marxists, We are Ideological’”, openly states, “We actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia in particular are trained organizers. We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories.” In other words, Alicia Garza and Patrisse Cullors know how to stir people up, they know how to organize people, to arouse their passions. That is how Communists operate: They play on the emotions of people.

Their Communist philosophy can also be found on the official website of Black Lives Matter, under the “What We Believe” section. Near the end, it states, “We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and ‘villages’ that collectively care for one another…” Friends, that statement is rooted in Globalism, Communism, and Illuminism, which are one and the same!

The Communist Manifesto also teaches the abolition of the family. It states, “Abolition of the family! Even the most radical flare up at this infamous proposal of the Communists.” Given that abolition of the family is one of the goals of Communism AND Illuminism, it is not strange that a group founded by Marxists would admit to “disrupting the family structure” on their website!

The Protocols of the Zionist Men of Wisdom also declare the abolition of the family in favor of mob mentality. Protocol 10:5 states, “…we will shatter the goy family and its educational importance. We will not allow the formation of individual minds, because the mob, under our guidance, will prevent them from distinguishing themselves or even expressing themselves. The mob has become accustomed to listen only to us who pay it for obedience and attention…” This fits with the statement that Black Lives Matter disrupts the family structure in favor of establishing a global collectivist family!

To sum up the matter, Black Lives Matter is NOT truly dedicated to fighting racial injustice. This should be evident already when you consider their deafening silence on the murder of Officer David Dorn, daily black-on-black crime, and the numerous abortions of unborn black babies committed by Planned Parenthood. The group is dedicated to using Communist tactics to stir up the masses for revolution, which will destroy society in order to build a new one: creative destruction, order out of chaos.

Fox reporter Tucker Carlson told the truth...

We are seeing anarchy across the country. This is the consequence of a nation which has abandoned God. They who refuse to be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants.

Call me “old-fashioned” (and I am without apology), but the Bible says women belong in the home—not the battlefield, not the workplace, not the office, not in squad cars, not the church secretary, not in judge's seats—but in the kitchen and home. The erroneous idea of “equal rights” has absolutely destroyed our society. The faulty concept of equal rights that places women in men's jobs is INSANITY! Our country has already gone to ruin, we are just sinking further into the trash bin. Pastors don't preach anymore. Fathers don't lead their homes, and the courts empower women to rebel at home, divorce, murder their children in the womb, with no accountability whatsoever. It should not come as a surprise that I said earlier, Satanists control our nation, because the inspired Holy Bible itself teaches that Satan is “the god of this world” (2nd Corinthians 4:4). 

I could be wrong, but I think President Donald Trump is waiting to get re-elected in November, and then he will clean house. I believe he will be re-elected, despite all the criticisms against him. Mr. Trump is a dream come true for Zionists, which compels me to think he is guaranteed re-election. I think we are going to war against Iran. Mr. Trump's so-called "conservative" judge appointee to the U.S. Supreme Court just ruled to legalize homosexual rights in the workplace. So now if an employer hires a man and he returns over the weekend as a woman, he cannot be fired. It appears to me that whether Democrat or Republican, they both take us in the same direction of a New World Order. 

The U.S. government is now borrowing trillions of dollars from the Federal Reserve criminals to help Americans because of the Coronavirus, enslaving future generations to the NWO. America's days of sovereignty are numbered. I heard David Knight on the Alex Jones Show yesterday saying that we are soon headed for a cashless society and economic crash. Of that I am fully convinced. Open massive drug abuse, rampant homelessness, nationwide anarchy, deadly riots, a flood of immorality, dead churches, hundreds of Bible revisions, Lordship Salvation and an epidemic of indifference in the churches. How can we survive as a nation? ...

Jesus Christ Is Almighty God

John 10:33, “The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.”

I used some helpful information from an article on Christ's deity by the Middletown Bible Church in Middletown, Connecticut, adding my own comments as well to write this important theological article. Make no mistake about it, the infallible inspired Word of God clearly identifies Jesus Christ as almighty God. He is “the great God” (Titus 2:13), “the mighty God” (Isaiah 9:6), and “the true God” (1 John 5:20). Full and complete deity is ascribed to Him: “the Word was God” (John 1:1). Though a Jew “according to the flesh,” He is the One “who is over all, God blessed for ever” (Romans 9:5). 

I don't like when theologians call Jesus the “second person” of the Godhead, because Jesus is not “second,” He is as much God as God the Father is God. Neither is the Holy Spirit the “third person” of the Godhead. The Bible teaches in Deuteronomy 6:4, “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:” There is only one God, but He exists in the three unique, individual, and equal persons of the Godhead. Colossians 2:8-9, “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” The Godhead became incarnate (flesh) in the man Jesus. 

When a person met Jesus, they met God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. John 14:8-9, “Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?” To know Jesus Christ is to know God. To see Jesus Christ is to see God: “he that hath seen Me hath seen the Father" (John 14:9). Christ is the "image of the invisible God” (Colossians 1:15), “the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His Person” (Hebrews 1:3). “In Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily” (Colossians 2:9). All men must honor the Son just as they honor the Father (John 5:23). We honor the Father as God, and we must honor the Son in the same way. The Son of God is not honored when His deity is denied.

Witnesses to His deity are many. Peter referred to Jesus Christ as God (2nd Peter 1:1). [The Greek construction of 2nd Peter 1:1 (the Granville Sharp Rule) demands that we understand the term "God" to be referring not to God the Father, but to “our Saviour Jesus Christ.” This same construction is found in Titus 2:13, where “the great God” is none other than Jesus Christ.] Jesus is God, not just “a god” as the Jehovah's Witness religious cult errantly teach, but God Almighty. The Apostle Paul declared Jesus' deity in several places (Titus 2:13; Philippians 2:6; Romans 9:5). The prophet Isaiah identified the Messiah as God (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6). Thomas worshipped the risen Lord, addressing Him by these words: “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28), and Jesus did not rebuke him for this. That is because what Thomas said was true. Jesus is Lord, Savior and God!!!

Because Jesus Christ is God, He is all that God is. He fully possesses all the attributes of deity. Jesus is holy (Luke 1:35), He is righteous (1st John 2:1), He is eternal (Micah 5:2), He is unchangeable (Hebrews 13:8), He is omnipotent (Revelation 1:8 with 22:12-13), He is omnipresent (Matthew 28:20) and He is omniscient (John 2:24-25; 6:64; 16:30). Every attribute that belongs to the Father belongs to the Son: “All things that the Father hath are mine” (John 16:15). How could anybody question or deny Jesus' deity?

Because Jesus Christ is almighty God, He can perform miraculous works which only our omnipotent God can do. Only God is the Creator, and the Bible declares that it was by the Son that all things were created (John 1:3; Colossians 1:16). Beware of the Devil's modern Bible revisions, which change these passages to say all things were created “through Him” instead of “by Him.” This is a common corruption in the modern perversions. Only God can forgive sins, and Jesus Christ did just that (Mark 2:5-7). Only God answers prayer, and the Lord Jesus said, “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it” (John 14:14). Only God will sit on the final throne of judgment, and the Scripture identifies Jesus Christ as the final Judge of all men (John 5:22, 27; 2nd Timothy 4:1).

The cults commonly deny the full deity of Jesus Christ. Liberal theologians do the same. Unbelieving hearts refuse to face up to who Jesus really is. The term “God” (Hebrew - “Elohim”) may be applied to the true God (Genesis 1:1) and also to false gods (Exodus 20:3). The sacred name “Jehovah” (written with all capital letters as “LORD” or “GOD” in the Old Testament) is a name that is applicable to none but Deity. It is derived from the verb “to be,” and it communicates the fact that Jehovah is the One who was, who is and who ever shall be (compare Revelation 1:8). 

The Lord Himself is very jealous over this Name and all that it stands for as seen in the following two passages: 1) “That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth” (Psalms 83:18); 2) “I am the LORD: that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another” (Isaiah 42:8). No greater proof of deity could be presented concerning Christ, than that He should rightfully be called JEHOVAH (God or Lord).

DOES THE BIBLE SOMETIMES APPLY THE TERM JEHOVAH TO JESUS CHRIST?

Please consider the following:

1. In Zechariah chapter 12, JEHOVAH is the One who is speaking (verses 1,4). In verse 10 Jehovah says, "they shall look upon Me whom they have pierced." This can refer to no one else except Christ (see John 19:37 and Revelation 1:7).
2. JEHOVAH of the Old Testament declares Himself to be the First and the Last (Isaiah 44:6). In the New Testament Jesus Christ is said to be "the first and the last" (Revelation 1:8,11,17,18; 22:12-13).
3. In Isaiah 6:5 the prophet said, "for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD (JEHOVAH) of hosts." Isaiah saw JEHOVAH! The Apostle John referred to this same event in John 12:41, and he made it very clear that the Person whom Isaiah saw was actually Jesus Christ: "These things said Isaiah, when he saw His glory and spake of Him (referring in the context to Christ)."
4. In Psalm 23:1 David declared that JEHOVAH was the Great Shepherd of the sheep. The New Testament identifies Jesus Christ as the great Shepherd of the sheep (Heb. 13:20; John 10:11,14).
5. The Old Testament repeatedly refers to JEHOVAH as Israel's Rock (Deuteronomy 32:3,4,18; Psalm 18:2; 62:1-2; etc.). The New Testament clearly identifies this Rock as Christ (1 Corinthians 10:4).
6. In Isaiah 43:10-11 and 45:21 JEHOVAH declares Himself to be the only Saviour. There is no other Saviour apart from Him! In the New Testament Peter declares that Jesus is the only Saviour (Acts 4:12). In Isaiah 45:21-22 JEHOVAH says, "Look unto Me and be ye saved...there is none else." In John 3:14-16 we are told to look unto the crucified One to be saved.
7. In Isaiah 45:21-23 JEHOVAH says, "that unto Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear." This passage in Isaiah is applied to Christ in Philippians 2:9-11, the One before whom all shall someday bow. Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Phil. 2:11). [The word "Lord" in Philippians 2:11 is the Greek word "kurios" which is consistently used in the Septuagint (ancient Greek version of the Old Testament) in translating the Hebrew word "Jehovah."]
8. In Isaiah 24:23 and Zephaniah 3:15-17 we learn that JEHOVAH Himself will reign in Jerusalem during the coming kingdom age and will be in the midst of His people. The New Testament clearly identifies this future, millennial King as Jesus Christ (Revelation 19:11-16; 20:4,6).
9. In Isaiah 40:3 we learn that John the Baptist was to prepare the way for the coming of JEHOVAH. In Mark 1:1-3 the same passage is applied to Christ (John the Baptist prepared the way for Christ).
10. In Isaiah 8:13-14 the prophecy states that JEHOVAH will be "for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence." In 1 Peter 2:7-8 these verses in Isaiah are applied to Jesus Christ.
11. In Psalm 34:8 we are invited to "taste and see that JEHOVAH is good." This passage is clearly alluded to in 1 Peter 2:3 which refers to the goodness and graciousness of Jesus Christ ("If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious").
12. The Old Testament promises salvation and deliverance to those who call on the name of JEHOVAH (Joel 2:32 and see Acts 2:21). In the New Testament this same passage is used to present a promise of salvation for all those who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 10:13; Acts 2:21, 36).

The above evidence shows beyond any doubt, that the term “JEHOVAH” may rightfully be applied to Jesus Christ. [Jehovah's Witnesses deny the deity of Christ and teach that Jesus is a mighty angelic creature who was created by Jehovah God. They strongly maintain that the divine name JEHOVAH is never used of Christ]  Since this is a term that is applicable only to Deity, and since it is a term that can rightfully be applied to Jesus Christ, then we must conclude that the Lord Jesus is Jehovah God! Jesus forgave sin as only God can do (Mark 2:5-7). Repeatedly in The Four Gospels, Jesus accepted worship from people, which only God is entitled to (Matthew 8:2; 9:18; 14:33; Isaiah 42:8). Jesus even claimed to be THE ALMIGHTY! Revelation 1:8, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”

Oh dear friend, Jesus is the only begotten Son of God (Matthew 16:16; John 3:16), and yes, Jesus is God the Son (1 John 5:20; Hebrews 1:8). To Jesus Christ be all the glory, praise, credit and honor, both now and forevermore. Jesus is precious!!! The following horrible blasphemous image quote shows what the ungodly world thinks about the dear Lord Jesus Christ. I have no doubt that Leonard Nimoy (1931-2015), known as the character “Spock” on Star Trek is sadly burning in Hell forever. Nearly all of the Star Trek cast shared Nimoy's blasphemous attitude against God. What ingrates!!! Please make sure you don't join them...

Isaiah 45:9, “Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?”

We Already Have Chinese Style Censorship In America

Acts 7:51-58, “Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it. When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.”

I thought this was an appropriate Scripture text for my blog article. Google (who owns YouTube) has been censoring anything they don't like. A disturbing 92.06% of all internet searches are filtered through Google, which means Google literally is shaping public opinion by controlling the flow of information. This is an Orwellian nightmare come true! We read about the communist Chinese government censorship of the internet, but we fail to realize that America is suffering the same fate, because we don't consider Google a threat. 

Facebook has banned my www.Lovethetruth.com website. They even blocked me from sharing the name of my website in a comment to another Facebook member. When I asked facebook why the banned my ministry website, they refused to tell me! This is Chinese-style communist censorship folks, and it is going to get much worse in the United States! The media continues to deceive Americans that we live in a “FREE” country, but you're only truly “free” if you agree with how ungodly liberals want you to think—accepting queers, accepting abortion, accepting LGBTQ freaks teaching your children, tolerating NAMBLA perverts, and thinking like the Devil's crowd! Sodomites and left-wing nuts can bash, demean and attack Christians all they want, and nobody says anything in the media; but just let a God-fearing pastor tell his church congregation that the government should execute homosexuals, and you'll end up demonized by the wicked media like Pastor Grayson Fritts. 

Folks, the government has even passed laws protecting Google from being sued for violating people's free speech rights (see video below). Who do you think is behind all this banning of websites? Freemasons control America, a Satanic cult! Pastor Steven Anderson has uploading over 6,000 sermon videos from his church, but YouTube gave him two strikes because of complaints by users of violating their terms of service. Just one more strike and YouTube will terminate his entire account and delete all 6,000 uploads (like they horribly did Alex Jones' account). YouTube needs to be stopped! Google needs to be stopped! ...

Google Tries To Censor Content It Disagrees With

Just as we read in Acts 7:57, “Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears,” because they didn't want to hear THE TRUTH Stephen was preaching. Take a look at what comes up on a YouTube if you search for “YouTube trans. ” So it's okay for every form of ungodly homosexual, transvestite, and LGBTQ freak to promote their sick values, ungodly filth, and perverted deathstyle; but Christians are banned from expressing their views. I am being very careful what I type, because I don't want to get banned. I wish I could write how I really feel, but I would definitely get censored. 

I thank God that we have a righteous God in Heaven, who cannot do evil, nor can He be tempted with evil. I thank God that in the long run, EVIL ALWAYS LOSES!!! These sodomites and lesbians in 2020 may be triumphing for a few decades, but Hell will be their home for eternity. Job 20:4-5, “Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth, That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?” I am a loving person, and I care about everyone, including homosexual people, but as a child of God I must speak out against evil (Ephesians 5:11; Titus 1:10-13; Psalms 94:16; 97:10). 

Homosexuality is a choice, and choosing to sin is what evil is. Remember, we must never reject the sinner with the sin, nor accept the sin with the sinner. Homosexuals are sick people, they need help. Prior to 1973 the American Psychiatric Association (APA) considered homosexuality a pathological mental illness. What changed? The only thing that changed was America's ungodly political climate. As recently as 1962 homosexuality was a punishable crime (and should be) in all 50 states. In many states today (like Alabama and Tennessee), lawmakers are making it very difficult to get an abortion. PRAISE THE LORD! A woman's body ENDS, where her baby's body BEGINS! An abortion doesn't make a woman unpregnant, it just makes her the mother of a DEAD BABY!!!

This is America, right? We're supposed to have free speech, right? We're not talking about someone yelling “FIRE” in a crowded theater. We're talking about faithful Christians taking a stand against sick-minded homosexuals trying to influence our children in the schools. Even Sesame Street now openly promotes lesbians and homosexuals. The safe thing to do in this untoward perverse generation is to jump on the LGBTQ bandwagon, expressing sympathy for their “rights.” What about God's rights? What about the rights of families who do not ascribe to homosexuality? What about the rights of Christian parents not to have their impressionable children lied to and indoctrinated with the Satanic garbage of evolution in public schools? Most Americans cannot afford to put their children into private schools, and by law you are required to enroll your children into their damned schools. 

Why is it that kooks, liberals and atheists can force their lies of evolution and sexual immorality on families, but Christianity (prayer and the Bible) are legally banned from being promoted in the government's schools? These people will burn in the hottest parts of Hell. When you have to hire an expensive lawyer to enforce your “rights,” you effectively have no rights! I have said since he was elected in 2016 that I do not trust President Donald Trump. He says all the right things, but his actions often deny his words. Mr. Trump's so-called “conservative” judge appointee to the U.S. Supreme Court, just ruled to legalize homosexual rights in the workplace. So now if you hire a man, and over the weekend he returns to work Monday as a woman, you cannot fire him! That is very, very wrong!!! It doesn't matter if we have a Democrat or a Republican in the White House, the New World Order is advancing!

Do you still really think the United States is a free country? If you do, stick around, because in just a few years you will wake up when it is much too late! The only difference between communist China and communist America, is that in the United States the government uses private companies to do their dirty work instead of directly by the government! Gift Of Eternal Life Is Wrapped In Package Of Jesus

Romans 5:18, “Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.”

I was reading a wonderful book today by one of my favorite preachers, Dr. Bob Jones Sr. (1883-1968). As I read his books and hear him preach, I see Dr. Bob Jones Sr. in Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001). It is clear to me that Brother Jones had a tremendous influence on the life and preaching of Dr. Jack Hyles. I love both of these dear men of God!

It grieves my heart to see how our nation has changed for the worse in my lifetime. What discourages me is that today's professed Christians (particularly my own camp of independent Baptists) cannot see the forest for the trees! We are changing so quickly and most Baptists are in woeful denial. Here is a beautiful quote from Evangelist Bob Jones Sr.:

“Young people, you can't buy salvation. You can't pay for it after you get it. But if you don't already have it, you can have it. Somebody is giving it away around here. His name is Jesus and He wants to give you salvation. 

Before I stop I will use an illustration I have used many times here at the college.  Maybe those of you who have heard it have forgotten it. 

Do you see this quarter? I want to give it to you. But I am a peculiar man. I just give away quarters one way. I put a quarter in a book, shut the book, and offer you the book. His feet are scarred. But, say, He has wrapped in Himself a wonderful gift. God gives you eternal life when you take Him. Amen and amen! That was so simply, beautifully and eloquently said. Dr. Bob Jones Sr. preached the simplicity that is in Jesus Christ (2nd Corinthians 11:3-4).

Bob Jones University Preaches Another Gospel Today

Dr. Jones would be appalled, disgusted and angry if he heard Dr. Steve Pettit (president of Bob Jones University since 2014) teaching the students that to be saved, they “must persevere” in holiness, ministry and service to others, and faithfully “run the race” to obtain the “award” of Heaven itself. Dr. Pettit is preaching another gospel, not the Gospel of free grace once delivered unto the saints! Dr. Pettit made this blasphemous statement at Bob Jones University (BJU) to 2,700 impressionable students on January 26, 2015:

“You can't just speak about getting saved, and you accepted Christ, and then that's it! There is a justification; There is a sanctification; There's ultimately a glorification, and though there are three parts, they are all part of the whole, and you cannot separate them. In order for you to qualify for the award, you have to get into the race, you have to stay in the race, and you have to finish the race. If you want to win, you have to run to the end; and winning in the Christian life is everything, because if you lose—if you don't finish—you lose everything—you lose your SOUL. And so, the Christian race is the life of faith that begins, is run, and is finished when we cross over into Heaven!” [emphasis added] —Dr. Steve Pettit (“What Does It Mean To Run 'The Race'?” - 11:34)

Folks, that is the exact opposite of what the founder, Dr. Bob Jones Sr., believed and taught the students at BJU. Dr. Jones would blow up the college he started with dynamite (he said so himself | MP4 | MP3) if he could today! Kindly said, Steve Pettit is a religious liberal! They actually pay him a 6-digit salary to preach a counterfeit gospel, sending those misled students to Hell. Still not convinced? Read this heretical quote from Dr. Pettit...

“We run the race, we cross the finish line, and so what’s the prize? What is the award? Well, there are different viewpoints. Some would have the viewpoint that the awards are crowns in Heaven. But as I read the book of Hebrews and see the whole gist of the book and the flow of the book, I don’t believe its referring to crowns in Heaven. I think it is referring to Heaven itself.” [emphasis added] —Dr. Steve Pettit (“What Does It Mean To Run 'The Race'?” - 22:57)

Dr. Pettit teaches strange doctrines. I shared with you earlier what Dr. Bob Jones Sr. taught. These two men are light-years apart in their plans of salvation! Steve Pettit teaches BJU students that if they perpetually lie, they'll go to Hell. That is another gospel!!! If you are saved, you can lie all you want and still go to Heaven (Acts 13:39; Romans 5:20). You shouldn't lie. Lying is a sin. God hates lying. However, none of that has anything to do with the free gift of God, which is eternal life (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9). 

God knows I am not trying to be mean. I don't get paid a single penny for my preaching. Since I began my online ministry in 2002, I've never accepted one cent! I've had people send me money, and I sent it back to them, every penny! I do what I do because I love God, truth and people!!! I have a full reward in Heaven, the greatest being all the souls saved and lives changed through my humble labors for Jesus Christ. To God alone be all the credit, praise and glory!!! Jesus said without Him we cannot do anything (John 15:5). Jesus even keeps you and me breathing (Acts 17:25). Jesus is precious!!!

Eternal Life Comes In The Wonderful Package Of Jesus!

I like what Dr. Bob Jones Sr. said about being “a peculiar man.” I am too! Brother Jones gave away quarters (which was a lot of money in 1944). He always placed the quarter into a book, and then offered someone the book. If the person refused the book, then they didn't get the quarter. I do the same thing! I print my own Gospel tracts. I often place $20 in one of the tracts, and fold it up, keeping it ready under my sun-visor in my car to give away to a needy person. When someone asks for money, I hand them the Gospel tract. If they refuse it, then they don't get the $20. They cannot see the money until they unfold the tract. 

One day I saw a homeless man in a store parking lot. I offered him a Gospel tract. He was offended and cursed the name of Jesus. So I put the Gospel tract back into my pocket, and he never knew there was $20 inside. I don't give people money when they ask, I offer them a Gospel tract, which if they accept comes with a gift of $20. That is the same thing that Dr. Bob Jones Sr. liked doing! I was happy when I read that he did that too! God is offering everyone eternal life, but it comes in the wonderful package of Jesus Christ!
