You Tell On Yourself

Proverbs 20:11, “Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.”

Proverbs 31:23, “Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.”

Ecclesiastes 5:3, “For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.”

I read an intriguing poem today by an unknown author...
You Tell On Yourself
You tell what you are by the friends you seek,
By the very manner in which you speak,

By the way your employ your leisure time,
By the use you make of dollar and dime.

You tell what you are by the things you wear,
By the spirit in which you burdens bear,

By the kind of things at which you laugh,
By records you play on the phonograph.

You tell what you are by the way you walk,
By the things of which you delight to talk,

By the manner in which you bear defeat,
By so simple a thing as how you eat.

By the books you choose from the well-filled shelf;
In these ways, and more, you tell on yourself.
What a great and truthful poem! I couldn't have said it any better. I chose three passages of Scripture as our text verses, each of which deals with knowing someone's character by what they say and do.

The inspired Holy Bible says that we may discern between good and evil by even a child's behavior.

A godly wife builds a reputation in the community, so that everyone highly regards her husband because of his wife's good character and virtue. Can that be said about you and me dear reader? Like it or not, our reputation precedes us whatever we go. Proverbs 15:1, “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.”

The Bible says in our last text verse that a fool is known by his many words. And the opposite is also true, that even if a fool just stays quiet people will assume that he is wise. Proverbs 17:28, “Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.”

I have been horribly censured, kicked out of churches and persecuted over my Biblical stand against women wearing pants in public. Such was the shameful case at the Family Baptist Church in Pensacola in 2025, when Pastor Brad Moffett and his ungodly worldly wife kicked I and my wife out of their church over my faithful stand for Bible modesty. The Moffett family should be greatly ashamed of themselves for pulling on the same rope as the Devil, corrupting society further with immodesty. You tell on yourself by the things you wear!
