Jesus Is The Lord, You Don't Make Him Lord

Romans 14:8-9, “For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.”

As I do nearly every day, I visit different favorite social media sites to see what's new. Today I found this meme on Pastor Jeff Owens Twitter page. I added the red cancellation mark, so that no one might think that I am in agreement with Dr. Owen's statements. ...

Throughout my website ministry since 2002, I have encouraged all of my web visitors to think objectively, to question everything with the inspired King James Bible. This is biblical. 1st John 4:1, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” Even Bible preachers are still flawed sinful humans and are in error doctrinally at times, including this humble preacher.

Every time I read that statement, “He's either the lord of all or He's not the Lord at all,” I cringe. I cringe simply because it is not a true statement. Dear reader, JESUS IS THE LORD! You don't make Him Lord, Jesus is the LORD!

For Jesus to be the 100% supreme Lord of someone's life, you'd have to be totally sinless like Christ Himself, which is IMPOSSIBLE. Since we all have varying degrees of sin still present in our daily lives, can anyone truly claim that Jesus is 100% the Lord of their life? Yes, we can. When you commit sin dear reader, if you are a born again child of God, Jesus is still your Lord.

Whether you and I submit to Christ as our Lord is an entirely different matter, but if you are saved Jesus is your LORD. Respectfully said, I reject Pastor Owen's meme which says either Jesus is Lord of all in your life or else He's not the Lord at all. That is simply untrue! There has never been, nor ever will be, a time in our life when we 100% obey God's inspired Word, because we are still stuck with this sinful troublesome flesh (Romans 7:14-25).

At best, all we can do is pray for God to guide and help us to do right. Remember, the Holy Spirit (who is the Godhead living inside our spirit, soul and body) lives the Christian life through us, we don't live the Christian life in our own human strength (Galatians 2:20-21).

Kindly said, I strongly reject the erroneous idea that Jesus is not one's Lord unless you are sold out to Christ in every area of your life. Dear reader, that is utterly IMPOSSIBLE! No one is 100% surrendered to Christ... NO ONE! Not unless you are perfectly sinless like Jesus. Jesus is every believer's LORD! That is, Jesus became your Lord and Master the moment you trusted Him as your personal Savior. Ownership rights transferred from Satan to God the moment you were saved. When you were born again, you were no longer a child of the Devil, you became a child of God.

Now, most believers don't submit to Jesus as the Lord of their life. And truthfully, none of us submit completely to Him. There is no such thing as a good Christian.

In his meme, Pastor Owens says you cannot bargain with God. Did not Abraham bargain with God concerning how many righteous people he might find in Sodom? Yes, he did. Did not Moses bargain with God on Mount Sinai, trying to change God's mind not to destroy the Jews? Yes, he did. Dear reader, God CAN be bargained with. Isaiah 1:18, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” God can be bargained with. If you are saved, then Jesus is your Lord!

You and I will never totally surrender to Christ as the supreme Lord of our life, otherwise we'd be perfect. No believer is a shining example of what other believers should be. At best all you can do is hide your sin. 1st Timothy 5:24, “Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.” Although you may live above reproach, there is no such thing as a Christian who is above sinning (Romans 7:14-25).

That being said, I respect Pastor Jeff Owens. He was one of my Bible professors at Hyles-Anderson College (HAC) when I attended from 1985 to 1993. I graduated in 1993 with an earned degree in Pastoral Theology. I was actually on the Dean's List for good character conduct and high grades, if you can believe that. That was a far cry from my first year at HAC college, when I lived on campus, and I was called into the Dean's office for having too many demerits. I changed considerably over the 8 years I spent at HAC. The Lord invested in my life, to be a servant for Him as an inspired King James Bible preacher. Thank you Jesus!!!
