Romans 4:1-5, “What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”
That chart is worth 1,000 words! Heresy has crept into most of our churches today. Calvinism has infected the churches like the Black Plague on London which killed millions of people during the 19th century. I love the following drawing, much my youngest daughter drew many years ago when she was about 12 years old. The drawing plainly shows that she had an excellent grasp on the Gospel, knowing that salvation is free through faith alone in Christ apart from all works...
It is tragic that Bob Jones University (BJU) and most of their apostate graduates fail to understand this simple drawing, demanding that people turn away from sinful behavior and surrender full control of their life over to Christ as “Lord” to be saved. That is not the Gospel, not even in the ballpark!
The Holy Bible (i.e., the inspired King James Bible) plainly teaches that we are saved simply by ceasing from our own works (all human effort) and completely RESTING in Jesus Christ (Hebrews 4:1-11). BJU is not resting in Christ when they preach that you cannot merely accept Christ and know you are saved. In addition, Dr. Steve Pettit (president of BJU since 2014) errantly preaches that you must start, run and faithfully finish the race (living the Christian life) or else you lose everything, you lose your soul and go to Hell. That is 100% a works-based damnable plan of damnation, not salvation!!! SHAME ON BJU!!! I am the sworn enemy of anyone (like BJU and John MacArthur) who corrupt the Word of God, pervert the Gospel of grace and cast stumbling blocks before the people.
