1st Timothy 4:16, “Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.”
During the Eucharist ritual, Catholics practice what is known in theology as "transubstantiation," in which the bread and wine allegedly turn into Jesus' actual flesh and blood, to renew spiritual life in the participant's body.
Lutherans practice a similar belief called "consubstantiation," in which it is thought that the bread and wine don't literally become Jesus' blood and flesh, but these elements do produce a divine supernatural grace upon the participant. Of course, that is poppycock and tomfoolery! Both ideologies are unbiblical and wicked!
The Bible teaches that the Lord's Supper is simply a time when true believers in a local church REMEMBER Jesus' sacrifice on the cross of Calvary. The Lord's Supper ought not be done so often that it loses its meaning, nor observed so infrequently that the Body of Christ forgets what the dead Lord has done for us to rescue us from eternal damnation in the Lake of Fire.
There is no magical power of efficacy bestowed upon the participants of the Lord's Supper, or "Eucharist" as Catholics choose to call it. Presbyterians also errantly teach that the Lord's Supper bestows a spiritual grace, an efficacy (or power if you will) upon the participant. There is no such strange teaching in the inspired Word of God.
Neither is the Lord's Supper (nor water baptism for that matter) a church "sacrament." Sacraments are NOT taught in the inspired King James Bible. Religion and Christ are opposed to each other.
“Religion and Christ are in opposition to each other!” —Pastor Jack Hyles, “Religion Or Christ?”Religion always complicates the things of God. I humbly believe that is why Jesus warned in Matthew 7:13-14, "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Jesus said that only a FEW people ever find the true way of salvation.
The Devil's corrupt modern Bible PERversions, like the New King James Version (NKJV) corrupt this passage, replacing the word narrow with difficult. Salvation is not difficult, it is easy! I humbly think the reason why Jesus warned that only a "few" people will make it to Heaven is because the way of salvation is so easy, free and simple that most people miss it! Religion adds, embellishes and complicates God's simple plan of salvation (2nd Corinthians 11:3-4). God's simple plan of salvation is like a tiny town that if you hiccup, you might drive past and miss it entirely. Please don't let religion blind you to the truth of the Gospel.
Religion blinds lost sinners to the light of the truth of the Gospel (2nd Corinthians 4:3-4).
