Pastor Curtis Hutson (1934-1995) taught an excellent 6-part Bible study series in 1974 titled, "DEMONOLOGY." I encourage you to listen to it dear reader, because it is excellent. This was one year after the blockbuster Hollywood movie came out in 1973, "THE EXORCIST." Scaaary! The film sparked much curiosity in the general public (and the churches) about demon possession and the Satanism. Dr. Hutson taught this course to address these questions.
I believe that Lucifer and some of the angels lived on earth. When Lucifer rebelled, God in his anger destroyred the earth, making it void. The Bible teaches that God's Word never returns to Him void. 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗮𝗵 𝟱𝟱:𝟭𝟭, “𝗦𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵: 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗜 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗼 𝗜 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘁.” This would seem to indicate that something chaotic happened on earth, which caused God to lay the planet waste, without form and void. I believe this.
Regardless of one's doctrinal position on the age of the earth, it won't affect salvation. 𝗣𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗺𝘀 𝟭𝟬𝟮:𝟮𝟱, “𝗢𝗳 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵: 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀.” David penned this Scripture at about 1,000 BC. The Bible specifically identifies the foundations of the earth as being "Of old." I humbly think that statement is significant. Why would David make a distinction between the age of the earth itself, versus the age of all creation? He specifically mentioned that THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE EARTH are "old."
My Dad was a Gospel preacher and a Moody Bible Institute graduate. My father once told me when I was a boy, that he believed Adam could have built a nuclear bomb if he wanted. I have never doubted that.
The Bible says that God brought the creatures He had made, to see what Adam would name them. I love that! The Bible says that Adam named every living creature. 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝟮:𝟭𝟵, “𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗢𝗥𝗗 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝘄𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗶𝗿; 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺: 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘀𝗼𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗺 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗼𝗳.” That implies to me that God must have given Adam incredible knowledge, to be able to name EVERY LIVING CREATURE.
By the way, this is another reason why I don't believe dinosaurs lived among humans 5,000 years ago, because Adam didn't name them. If you look online to see who named the dinosaurs, it was 19th century scientists. Adam couldn't name the dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures because they weren't alive anymore. The Bible plainly says that Adam named every "living" creature, not the dead ones. I am a firm believer in the GAP PRINCIPLE (i.e., an old earth view). Dr. Curtis Hutson (1934-1995) also taught an old earth view.
I believe that the fallen angels used to have bodies. I mean, since every angel that God sent in the Bible had his own body, what happened to the demons that they became disembodied? Not once in the Bible did a demon ever appear in their own physical body, as the good angels always did. Demons then and today need to find a host, either a human or an animal to posses.
I humbly believe that the demons lost their bodies when God destroyed the earth and laid it waste in His anger because of Lucifer's rebellion. It makes a lot of sense, albeit I cannot prove this theory Scripturally. I am glad that you are listening to Dr. Hutson's intriguing Bible study on 'DEMONOLOGY.'
There are so many reasons why I believe in an old earth. Nowhere in the inspired Holy Scripture do we find where Lucifer and the angels who followed him went astray. Nowhere do we find where they lost their bodies. I think it is obvious that these events happened BEFORE the 6-days of creation.
That is why I am firmly convinced of the GAP PRINCIPLE. My long time ministry friend Pastor Max D. Younce (1935-2023) used to say, "It's not a Gap 'Theory,' it's a factual Gap 'Principle.'" Dr. Younce was absolutely certain of an old earth, and I agree. I think it is ridiculous for anyone to suggest that dinosaurs lived with humanity 5,000 years ago.
It always bothers me when I hear the so-called "experts" telling us about human civilization 10,000 years ago, which is a big lie. Anyone can easily verify that the earliest civilization were Egyptians around 2,000 BC. Noah's flood is calculated to have happened in 2,348 BC.
The series was presented as a Wednesday evening Bible study at the Forest Hills Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia. In his study Pastor Hutson explains why he Scripturally believes in an old earth view and the GAP PRINCIPLE (or, GAP THEORY). I do not think it is s mere theory, because the Bible offers MUCH credible evidence for an old earth.
Scientists tell us that Carbon Dating reveals the earth is 4.5 billion years old. I don't refute that. Paleontologists estimate that dinosaurs lived between 60,000,000 to 220,000,000 years ago. I also don't refute that figure. The Bible doesn't go into detail about life before the 6-day creation.
In his insightful book, "The Truth About Evolution; Or, Don't Let Satan Make A Monkey Out Of You," my friend Dr. Max D. Younce in chapter 12, 'THE REMODELING,' explains the 6-days of creation as a time of remodeling, with which I fully concur.
Dr. Arthur C. Custance (1910-1985) has also written a helpful booklet titled, "WITHOUT FORM AND VOID" explaining a GAP PRINCIPLE from Genesis chapter 1 and 2.
In Genesis 1:2, God began to REMODEL His creation. The Hebrew word bara (created) in Genesis 1:1 is an absolute words, which means to create something from nothing. God bara the universe and all that is therein. The word bara is not used again until God created man and the mammals. In between the Bible uses different broader Hebrews words, which suggests that a different creative process was at work (i.e., God was remodeling His creation). Pastor Younce and Dr. Arthur Custance explain these things better than I can.
Regardless of one's doctrinal position on the age of the earth, it won't affect salvation. 𝗣𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗺𝘀 𝟭𝟬𝟮:𝟮𝟱, “𝗢𝗳 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵: 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀.” David penned this Scripture at about 1,000 BC. Having said all that. I believe that earlier civilizations were more advanced than historians like to give them credit. Modern scientists and archeaologists still cannot explain how the pyramids were built, or how the mystery of Stonehedge was erected, and other mindboggling wonders of the world. At a minimum, I think Adam was given absolute knowledge by God. It could be that with the sinful fall of mankind that humanity lost that knowledge, but that is mere speculation. We simply do not know, but I tend to agree with you.

The flood destroyed everything!!! That is why there is no available history of human civilization prior to the flood.
Respectfully, Dr. John R. Rice taught that Noah left the dinosaurs behind. Dr. Henry Morriss III taught that Noah took baby dinosaurs aboard the ark and God stunted their growth. I am not kidding...lol. I humbly think dinosaurs lived 65 to 220 million years ago, just as scientists tell us. But humanity didn't exist until approximately 4,000 BC. I reject all forms of evolution.
