Six Perverted Gospels

Galatians 1:7 “Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.”

The following excellent article was authored by Evangelist Allen Domelle...
A Perverted Gospel
Paul was amazed that the Galatian church was so quick to receive another gospel. These believers accepted the true Gospel to get saved, but they allowed the Gospel to be perverted by “smart” people who were smarter than God because what these “smart” people said was the Gospel was not the Gospel.

Paul said to them, “… there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.” The word “pervert” means twisted, distorted, misconstrued, and corrupted. In other words, they twisted the Gospel just a bit, but twisting the Gospel always makes it a false gospel. The Gospel doesn't need to be twisted or distorted to make it work; it is powerful enough the way God gave it to us to save any sinner.

Sadly, the same battle that Paul fought we still fight today. There are some who are considered “smart” people who pervert the gospel of Christ. The “smart” people are pretty dumb to think that their gospel is better than God’s. Always remember that the gospel of the “smart” people will send a person to Hell, but the Gospel of Christ will always take a person to Heaven. Let me point out to you several perverted gospels of which you must beware.

First, beware of a bloodless gospel. There are some who say only the death is necessary, but God says that the blood is needed for an atonement for our sin. A bloodless gospel is a dead gospel that will not pay for one sin.

Second, beware of a works gospel. There is no work that will ever pay for your sins. You can try to be good, but the problem is that you are still a sinner. You cannot work yourself to Heaven because Christ’s sacrificial death is the finished work and the only work needed for salvation.

Third, beware of a baptism gospel. Baptism has not saved one person. Just because you are baptized does not make you saved. You can get baptized many times, but every time you will come out of the water a sinner on your way to Hell. The waters of the baptismal have never paid for one sin and will never pay for anyone’s sin.

Fourth, beware of a selective gospel. There are some that say only certain people will get saved. The Gospel of Christ says that “whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) 2 Peter 3:9 says that the Lord is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” A gospel that says that only someone is selected before they are born to get saved is a perverted gospel.

Fifth, beware of a conditional gospel. The conditional gospel says you accept Christ as your Saviour, but you can lose it if you don’t work to keep your salvation. Let me remind you that the Gospel of Christ not only saves you, but it keeps you until you get to Heaven.

Sixth, beware of a difficult gospel. There are some who want to make it so difficult for a person to get saved that they never lead a person to Christ. My friend, the hard part of the Gospel was done on Calvary, but the easy part is up to the sinner to simply trust Christ. Let’s be careful about making the Gospel difficult and let the power of the Gospel save those who trust Christ and call on Him to save them. SOURCE
