2nd Timothy 3:16-17, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
Heresies abound on the internet. I've heard umpteen false teachers claim that the book of Hebrews wasn't intended for every believer, but only for Israel. That is false! We are taught in our text Bible passage that ALL SCRIPTURE is inspired by God, and is profitable to every believer, not just Jews. Our Lord Himself commanded in John 5:39, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” The Bible was written to every human being. The unsaved man cannot understand the Bible (1st Corinthians 2:14-16), but God wrote it for him too, as evidenced by the curious Ethiopian Eunuch who was reading from the book of Isaiah in Acts 8:37-39. Phillip went up to his chariot and explained the meaning of the Bible, and wonderfully led the man to Jesus as his Savior.
The Gospel of John was written for the purpose of convincing humanity that Jesus is the Christ, the only begotten Son of God. Obviously this must include the lost person, and obviously the lost person must be able to grasp the book of John enough to be saved, otherwise there would be no reason for John to try to convince the lost person to believe (John 20:31). So the Bible was not just written for just Christians, nor were specific books written just for Jews. The Apostle Paul wrote his various epistles to different churches and groups, yet we read that ALL SCRIPTURE is profitable for the believer.
Jesus said that when He left the earth, He would send the Holy Spirit to draw ALL MEN unto Himself. John 12:32, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” Titus 2:11, “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,” In both of these Scripture passages for find the word “ALL MEN.” Clearly, this refutes the heretic teachings of Calvinism, particularly the heresies of Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement and Irresistible Grace. If grace cannot be refused, then it cannot be God's grace. Biblically, the truth is that CHRIST DIED FOR ALL MEN (2nd Corinthians 5:14-15; 1st John 2:2).
God did not author the Holy Bible with the intent to keep unbelievers in the dark. Rather, God desires for ALL MEN to repent (change one's mind) unto the truth, coming to Christ for eternal salvation (2nd Peter 3:9; 2nd Timothy 2:25). So the book of Hebrews applies to everyone, not just the Jews. I've also heard false teachers claiming that the book of Matthew is only for the Jews, particularly chapter 24. That is utterly untrue dear reader. The book of Matthew presents Jesus a majestic KING. Mark presents Christ as a suffering SERVANT. Luke presents Jesus as a humble MAN. And John presents Jesus as almighty GOD. Thus, in the four gospels we have a complete well-rounded presentation and documentation of our dear Savior.
Kindly said, I am so sick and tired of all this dispensational junk theology being pushed today in the Bible colleges and churches. I deliberately have avoided theology my entire life, because theologians debate and argue rather than go soulwinning and serve Christ. When I had the blessed privilege to attend and graduate from Hyles-Anderson College (1985-1993), Pastor Jack Hyles intentionally decided NOT to have the faculty teach theology at HAC. I had several dozen classes on Biographies Of Great Men, Bible Doctrines, Church Education, Soulwinning, Old And New Testament Survey, Building A New Testament Church and the different books of the Bible; but we didn't sit there in class and learn big words like eschatology (end time prophecy), soteriology (salvation), nor debate the merits of molinism!
Dr. Hyles believed that only preachers can reproduce preachers, so he put active soulwinning preachers in the classrooms. Dr. Hyles didn't want some deadbeat theologian, who wasn't actively involved in a soulwinning ministry, teaching any class. Brother Hyles was so wise and 100% right, and I love him for it. In sharp contrast, Bob Jones University in 2021 is as the sinking Titanic, full of deadbeat lame professors who deny the inspiration of the King James Bible and never witness to anyone. Goodnight, BJU cannot even get the Gospel right. Instead they propagate the Satanic lie of Lordship Salvation! It ought to really be called “Lordship Damnation”!!! (Galatians 1:6-9). BJU despises the word “soulwinning,” because in their Calvinist views you cannot truly KNOW that you're saved until you cross the finish line at the end of your life. Kindly said, Dr. Steve Pettit is the worse thing that ever happened to BJU!!!
Be Careful Who You Listen To
I feel sorry for anyone who opens the Word of God, and sincerely believes that certain parts of it don't apply to them, or are not for today. If those are your thoughts friends, the Devil has deceived you! All of the Word of God was written for YOU, and for ME, and for WHOSOEVER reads it. Even the Apostle Peter said he had difficulty understanding Paul's writings. But Peter didn't contact the local ministerial board and publishing company to rewrite the Bible to make it easier to understand.
No, Peter warned that unlearned (ignorant; dummies) people, and unstable (vacillate; to move in an uncertain manner) people wrest (torture) the Word of God unto their own destruction. 2nd Peter 3:16-17, “As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.”
One of my favorite preachers, Dr. Curtis Hutson (1934-1995) wisely said: “A good rule to follow when interpreting the Bible is to never use an obscure passage to contradict a clear one.” I am amazed at some of the ridiculous theories that people come up with regarding the Word of God, with no logical basis for their assertions. I once witnessed to a man who rejected the truth I gave him. Instead he says he believes in reincarnation. I asked him what was the basis for his beliefs. I was saddened and bewildered as he compared life and death to a caterpillar that undergoes transformation eventually into a butterfly. I used to study caterpillars and butterflies as a child, and I loved especially watching the beautiful caterpillars crawl along. God is so amazing and wonderful beyond words to express His greatness.
I couldn't believe that the lost man I had just witnessed the Gospel to, rejected the truth in favor of a wacky notion that he will someday be reincarnated like a fuzzy caterpillar. 2nd Timothy 4:3-4, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” Dear friend, I am giving you SOUND DOCTRINE. That is why I always cite my claims, so you can search the Scriptures for yourself, and verify if what I say is true or not.
I KNOW that I am saved. I KNOW that I am a redeemed child of God. I KNOW that I am on my way to Heaven. I don't have a single doubt or worry. I once witnessed to an unsaved Muslim man years ago, who got upset with me, accusing me of arrogance because I said that I “KNOW” I am going to Heaven. Well, I do KNOW. 1st John 5:13 says we can “KNOW.” I KNOW that I am saved because God made humanity a solemn promise, “TO SAVE THEM THAT BELIEVE” (1st Corinthians 1:21; Titus 1:2; John 3:16). In Islam, you can only do your best and hope you make it. Allah is unpredictable and you cannot know for certain if he'll accept you or not until you get there. Of course, Allah is a myth, a false god. Allah has no son according to the Koran, but the God of Christianity has one biological Son, Jesus. So, clearly, Christians and Muslims DON'T worship the same God. Islam is a false religion.
I only mentioned these things to encourage you to do your own study. SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES Jesus said in John 5:39. Be very careful who you listen to on the internet. YouTube preachers are dime a dozen, and they're dangerous on many levels. If you're not careful, the internet will have you all turned around backwards, blown about by every strange wind of doctrine. The book of Hebrews is for EVERYONE, not just Israel.
Stay away from dispensational teachers, unless you know who they are. I do not have a problem with Pastor Harry Ironside's (1876-1951) modest views on dispensationalism, although I don't like it. Please stay away from deeper life theologians who want to debate religion, producing more heat than light. Our duty as believers is to GO YE INTO ALL THE WORLD preaching the Gospel (Matthew 28:19-20). Mark 16:15, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” The Lord wanted the Gospel to perpetuate from one generation of believers to the next, spreading the GOOD NEWS throughout the entire world to get people saved. This is THE GREAT COMMISSION. For most churches today is has sadly deteriorated into THE GREAT OMMISSION.
“The true Gospel always points you to Christ; a false gospel always points to you.” —Pastor Dennis Rokser
