When Satan Is At His Worst—Alcohol

Proverbs 23:29-35, “Who hath woe?  who hath sorrow?  who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast. They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.”

Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001) wisely says:

“Satan does not have to bother himself by going to the tavern, he owns the place. He has his emissaries to run the place. Satan appeared in the Garden of Eden when all was peace. That tavern down there is of the Devil and don't you forget it. And so is every other tavern! But Satan does not need to spend his time there. He owns the place lock, stock, and barrel. They're sold out to him. 

But Satan comes to a church like this this morning and he does his work here. T'was in the Garden of Eden where God walked with man and man walked with God, where Satan appeared and raised his ugly head for the first time on earth. He came to the best situation. 

Now in the Book of Job he came to the best Christian on earth and accused the best Christian on earth. You see, Satan does not come this morning and work on the fellow who has a hangover who's in bed this morning vomiting because of his dissipation last night. Satan does not come to him this morning. Satan comes to the Jobs—he comes to the best Christians on earth—he wants your testimony, he wants your life, he wants your time, he wants your talent, he wants to steal you for himself.” —Pastor Jack Hyles, from the needful sermon: 'WHEN SATAN IS AT HIS WORST.'

Please don't let alcohol ruin your life! I have heard story after story in the news of famous people, who after years of getting away from drinking, were eventually arrested for a DUI, and it cost them their reputation and career. Your sin of alcoholism will catch up with you! Drinking alcohol is as a fool's game of Russian Roulette! I thank God that I have never drank a drop of alcohol and I hate the stuff! I don't trust myself to drink booze, because I already know I would abuse it and get drunk! Go away Liquid Devil!
