Don't Sacrifice Permanent On The Altar Of Immediate!

Proverbs 20:17, “Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.”

Dr. Bob Jones Sr. (1883-1968) was a wise man and fundamentalist Christian. It is tragic that Bob Jones University has since gone apostate—denying the inspiration of the King James Bible, promoting corrupt Bible revisions, allowing their female students to dress immodestly like the world, refusing to listen to student's reports of rape, and a wicked attitude of indifference toward the truth and of contempt toward truth-tellers! The hallmark character trait of a Christian who is right with God is CARING, which speaks volumes concerning the woeful spiritual condition of BJU today in 2020! I speak to their shame!!!

Dr. Bob Jones Sr. taught this great truth:
Do not sacrifice the permanent on the altar of the immediate. Many young people think in terms of today and not in terms of tomorrow. You had better be a little hungry today and have food in the future. You had better wear poor clothes now and have a warm coat when you get old. You will need a warm coat in your old age more than you do when you are young. So many young people in this world are sacrificing all the future on the altar of the immediate. They are fools to do it. That is the explanation of many things that are happening today. What do you think is going to happen to the girls who are hanging around these cocktail lounges and bars with a cocktail glass in one hand and a cigarette in the other? What do you think is going to happen to these young people who are playing the game loose in this country—the young folks who are living sensual, superficial, unclean lives? They are locking skeletons in the closets of their lives, and the bones of those skeletons will rattle in their ears in coming years. You just can't get away with sin. Let me tell you something—you may get by the teacher today; but you can't get by life twenty-five years from now. Don't sacrifice the permanent on the altar of the immediate!
I could tell you story after story of foolish youth, who threw away their future for a few moments of fun. There is nothing more shameful than for high schools students to become parents out of wedlock! In over 99% of those cases there will never be a legal marriage! Hebrews 13:4, “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” Beware of Walt Disney, one of the biggest promoters of premarital sex! Search YouTube for Walt Disney perversion if you don't believe me! In the popular show Life With Zach And Cody, teenager boys brag of scoring with the girls. Fornication brings the judgment of an angry God (Colossians 3:5-6). Sin thrills and then it kills! Sin fascinates and then it assassinates! American society today is saturated with sexual immorality, because of worldly and cowardly preachers who no longer preach against sin!!!

I could mention umpteen evils concerning sacrificing the permanent on the altar of the immediate! I heard about a woman in Texas last year, who stole $1.3 million from her employer. While awaiting trial she commit suicide. She wanted to get rich the wrong way! She sacrificed the permanent on the altar of the immediate. I just read today that many con artists are preying on people during this Coronavirus! The world has always been a wicked place (1st John 5:19), but what makes times so “perilous (2nd Timothy 3:1-7) today is the woeful lack of fear of God in people! We are living in 'THE GENERATION THAT DOESN'T LOOK UP!' | MP3 (a needful sermon by Pastor Danny Castle).

I am a sinner like anybody else, so I don't point fingers. There but for the grace of God go I! I am just saying as a Bible-believing redeemed sinner, and a caring fundamentalist Baptist preacher, that SIN ISN'T WORTH IT!!! Crime may pay in the short-term, but it will always cost you in the long-term. Ecclesiastes 8:12-13, “Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.” Please don't sacrifice the permanent on the altar of the immediate!
“If you will give God your heart He will 'comb the kinks out of your head.'” —Dr. Bob Jones Sr., “Things I Have Learned: Chapel Talks,” page 47; Bob Jones University Press, ©1945
