Just Enough Faith

Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall CALL upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” I used to wonder if I had enough faith to be saved. What if I didn’t have enough faith at the time I thought I was saved? What if I didn’t get saved? How could I know if I had enough faith? How do you measure faith? I remember attending a revival meeting as a teenager and I learned a wonderful truth which I have never forgotten. I will share it with you now. Let’s look at Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall CALL upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” What a precious promise from God! If we will only call upon the Lord Jesus for salvation, that is all the faith we need to be saved.

How much faith do you need to be saved? ... JUST ENOUGH!

If you have “just enough” faith to put your trust in Jesus Christ, to go to Him for the forgiveness of your sins, that’s all the faith required. As a matter of fact, the more doubt you have, the greater your faith if you simply act on the belief. If you have so much doubt, that you CANNOT believe on Christ, then you have a serious problem. However, If you have “JUST ENOUGH” faith to take God at His Word, to obey the Bible by trusting Jesus alone as your personal Savior, then you are doing exactly what God expects of you to be saved. Remember, salvation is of the Lord, not man. We are saved by God's imputed righteousness, and not by any righteousness of our own accord.

To “call upon” the Lord simply means that you appeal unto Jesus Christ to be saved, receiving His death, burial and resurrection as full-payment for your sins. If you believe (rely upon) that Jesus is the Christ, Who paid for YOUR SINS on the cross and is risen from the dead, you are saved. Christ died, that's history; Christ died for me, that's salvation! John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”

Jesus never one time spoke of degrees of believing. Jesus simply told us to “believe on Him” John 6:40, “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and BELIEVETH ON HIM, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” If you “believe” upon Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, that is all that matters. Do you believe Jesus can save you? Do you believe that you are a guilty sinner in God's sight? Do you believe you deserve to go to Hell to be punished for your own sins? Do you believe Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood for you? Do you believe He was buried and rose up again three days later? If you believe these Bible truths and have “JUST ENOUGH” faith to CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD—You will be saved! This is what Romans 10:13 says.

You need to realize your need as a guilty sinner. The provision of that need is Christ's payment on the cross. God has made TWO great divisions to His Word—Old and New Testaments (or, LAW and GRACE). God's law show men their sinnership. Romans 3:19, “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.That is the purpose for which the law was given to Israel, that all men would become aware of their need for God's saving grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ. Galatians 3:24-26, “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

You don’t need to spend countless hours worrying over whether or not you have enough faith. If you have “JUST ENOUGH” faith to “CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD,” that’s all the faith you need to be saved. Either you “believe” (rely) on the Lord Jesus Christ or you don't. Simply take God at His Word, by receiving the account as given in the Holy Bible concerning Jesus Christ. Believe in the risen Christ, Who died on the cross to pay for YOUR SINS, and you are saved.
