Most People Think All Wrong How To Lose Weight

1st Corinthians 9:27, “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Like most Americans I have struggled with my weight as I've grown older. When I was 18 years old I weighed 148 pounds. I had been lifting weights and drinking Creatine to bulk up my muscles. I stopped working out and taking Creatine when I went off to Bible college. So one year later at age 19 I weighed only 138 pounds. Wow, I miss being that weight!

As the decades passed I started gaining weight without even realizing it. That is how weight gain usually happens, quietly and behind the scenes, as we enjoy life. In 2010, I weighed 225 pounds! Yuk! I went on a crash diet (fast) in December of 2010 and by February 2011 I weighed only 168 pounds. But I gained it all back over the next 6 months, giving up on trying to lose weight. All you have to do to gain weight is stop trying not to keep it off!

In 2015 I learned that I was stage 4 diabetic, when I had an infected gallbladder removed. My A1C sugar level was 9.8%. Ouch! My quack diabetes doctor has me on Metformin, which was totally worthless. He tried to get me to take Actus, but when I read it was banned on other countries, and the deadly side effects, I tossed it into the trash where it belongs. Then my quack doctor has me on insulin shots. I was injecting myself in the stomach with 40 units per day! My left foot started going numb, but only after starting the injections. My quack doctor couldn't explain why. I fired him! I say “quack” because he was trying to fix me with drugs. Friend, you cannot cut, burn and poison the body back to good health.

So on February 21, 2017 I had had enough! I was 215 pounds. My big belly looked like I was pregnant. I got mad at myself and went on a crash diet (fast), losing 15 pounds per month. It was easy because I wanted it so bad!!! By June 15th 2017 I weighed 146.3, and on June 25th 2017 I weighed 145.0 pounds! I lost 70 pounds in just 4 months! I was so happy and felt great!!! I did it without gimmicks. I did it without any damn prescription drugs. I did it without anything except drastically cutting my calorie intake, and walking off what I did eat each day. I aimed for 300 calories per day, and went walking briskly 3 times for 45 minutes each day. Sometimes I failed and ate 500 calories. But it's better to shoot low and hit middle, than to aim middle and hit high! To be honest, I was in love with a Christian woman in a local church, a nurse at Harvest Baptist Church on Guam. She was so skinny and healthy, and I was so fat and unhealthy. I was embarrassed and decided to take control of my health.

I have learned so much about losing weight. I don't claim to be an expert, but I CAN help you lose weight dear reader if you are obese. I will tell you how in a moment. I haven't even started to share the main point of this article with you yet, I am still building up to it. Let me say that anyone can lose weight if they starve them self as I did. Quite frankly, I did it ALL WRONG! Over 95% of the advice you'll find online about how to lose weight is worthless and backwards! For example: You'll read a lot of advice about how to overcome hunger pains by drinking tons of water, gargling with mouth wash, staying busy to take your mind off of food, chewing gum, drinking a Tablespoon or two daily of apple cider vinegar diluted in water, adding cayenne pepper to your food, eating lemons, et cetera. This is all inferior advice. There is some truth to gargling with mouth wash. That fresh minty feeling in your mouth does help to curb cravings a bit. Drinking more water is helpful. Using apple cider vinegar has not been shown in studies to be effective. There is debate about chewing gum to deter cravings. My point is that these are all THE WRONG approach to losing weight.

I actually lost 70 pounds in just 4 months in 2017, motivated by my love for a woman (who rejected me and didn't want me. I am still heartbroken. Such is life. The guy doesn't always get the girl, like Alan Jackson sings in his song: “Here In The Real World”). Her name was Kris and I still love her, but she didn't want a good guy. I think we all know the pain of rejection, but that is another story for another time. I managed to keep the weight off for over a year. I simply was mentally tough on myself, using intermittent fasting daily between enjoyable meals, starving myself from meal to meal. I was miserable. That is THE WRONG way to maintain your weight. In hindsight, I did it ALL WRONG. I was suckered by all the bad dieting advice online, which is why 95% of people FAIL at losing weight. We all know someone (likely several people) who have lost a significant amount of weight, but then gained it all back within a few months or years. That is because they did it ALL WRONG!

Here Is THE RIGHT WAY To Lose Weight And Keep It Off

When I lost 70 pounds in 2017, I didn't know what I was doing. As I said, 95% of all the information I found on the internet was interior, bad, worthless, wrong and even damaging. Consequently, by 2019 I had gained nearly all my weight back. I was depressed that I couldn't find a girlfriend in 2018 and was tired of fighting to starve myself between meals to keep my weight off. At 150 pounds I was only allowed about 1,500 calories per day to maintain my weight. Eating even an extra few hundred calories a day amounted to one pound of weight gain each week. In just one year I gained 50 pounds back!!! I didn't pig out and have a defiant or reckless attitude toward eating, I just stopped fighting to keep the weight off.

Then in 2021, I started watching YouTube video of a different sort. Instead of losing weight, I wanted to learn how to get a 6-pack of abs. I had been watching music videos and really admired Phil Collen's physique (a guitar player for Def Leppard). Phil is 63 years old, born in 1957 in London. I was born in Chicago in 1967. We're both 5' 7" tall. So we have the same body frame. I love playing guitar and any stringed instrument, so I took an interest. I watched hundreds of YouTube videos by Jeff Cavaliere, Jeff Nippard, Will Tennyson, Paul Revelia and others about RECOMPOSITION (building lean muscle and losing fat). I was fascinated by the things I learned. Due to my neck injury I cannot build a bunch of muscle like Jeff Nippard, nor do I want to at age 54. I just want to be as healthy as I can be despite my chronic neck pain, and look good with my shirt off. Phil Collen is a good role model for me in that respect. This is helpful advice that helped me take better care of myself. Phil is a vegan (he doesn't even use eggs, milk or other animal products). I am not a vegan or vegetarian, but I am eating 75% a vegetarian diet lately...

Phil Collen of Def Leppard Shares How He Stays Ripped

Also, the following video is tremendous. Dozens of Hollywood actors were interviewed, asked how they got ripped to play their leading roles in blockbuster movies. You may not want to find your abs or get ripped, but the principles are the same for general good health...

Hollywood Actors Share Advice On Exercise And Diet

I think TOTALLY different today in 2021 than I did back in 2017 when I lost 70 pounds in just 4 months. My thinking was ALL WRONG in 2017, which is why I gained nearly all my weight back. Okay, let me make it play now. I am eating a HIGH PROTEIN diet now in 2021 and I'm consistently losing at least one pound per week. But I doing it in a way that you won't believe... I EAT EVERY 3 HOURS! You read right, I eat food every 3 hours (specifically protein). Watch the preceding video and you will be amazed. Now, some of the actors express their frustration during the recomposition period (usually 6 months to a year). In my case, since I gained back 50 pounds, getting to 208 pounds, it will take me much longer. I am at 187.6 right now. I am so happy with the new knowledge I have learned, and my progress. I am doing everything very differently than I did in 2017. Here are some changes:

  1. My goal is not to diet. The very word “diet” is bad, because it implies doing something temporarily to lose weight. But when people stop their diet, they go back to their old bad habits and gain all their weight back. I am not dieting, I am eating nutritiously. So my goal is NUTRITION, not DIET.
  2. I am lifting weight this time. I can't do some exercises because of my neck pain. I cannot go as heavy as I did when I was younger, because of my neck injury. But I don't need to lift a bunch of heavy weights to build lean muscle, I just need some resistance for my muscles. I just use the weights to work the muscles, just enough to stimulate them to need protein. Here is a helpful article from Men's Health on '5 Ways To Build Muscle Without Heavy Weights.' That is what I do, which is perfect for a guy like me with an old injury that limits me.
  3. I eat every 3 hours, versus starving myself all day back in 2017. In 2017 I lost most of my muscle when I lost 70 pounds. I wimped out! My shoulders were dropped. My doctor even suggested that I lift some weights to retain muscle mass, but I didn't do it. This time I am taking my doctor's advice.
  4. In 2017 I often forced myself to go walking, pushing myself when I was in neck pain. That wasn't a sustainable way for me to live. I knew if I didn't go walking, I'd go stir crazy in hunger at home and eat 99% of the time. So walking was my way of avoiding eating. I was torturing myself! This is how most people lose weight, which is also why they ultimately fail and gain it all back, because it wasn't a sustainable way to live by being miserable, pushing yourself when in pain and tired, and starving between meals. I did it ALL WRONG. Now I am eating something every 3 hours, and it is very nutritious food, and I am losing weight slowly but surely. I am having fun in 2021, eating, feeling full and losing weight. This time I am doing it ALL RIGHT.
  5. My goal is NOT to lose weight this time; but rather, to eat healthy and let my body adjust to its proper weight. Since I am lifting some light weights a couple times a week (or as my health allows) I don't know what my optimal weight will be, because lean muscle weighs a lot more than fatty muscle. My goal is to lose fat, not weight. I saw a YouTube video of an obese woman that got super skinny over a couple years of working out in the gym, and eating a high protein diet, and she actually weighed 2 pounds more now than than, but she was a lot skinnier. She recomposition. That is my goal, as my neck injury allows. I've been taking it easy, but I'm losing weight without torturing myself this time.
  6. I try to eat 150 to 240 grams per day of protein. The higher the better from all that I have learned from YouTube. I am over 50, so I need more protein to preserve muscle. The older we get, the harder it is to build muscle. I also take HMG (just type that on Google and it will come up right away). HMG is a much researched supplement that preserves and protects muscle. I take the recommended 4,000 mg per day. I get mine from Vitamin World. I also take 5 grams daily of Creatine, another well researched supplement which is great for overall health and muscles. I use Whey Protein Isolate shakes each day to help me get my needed protein intake. I mix the Creatine and Protein powder with almond milk, egg whites (it comes in a carton and tastes like water) in my shakes. They taste great! I prefer vanilla protein powder. Each scoop has 130 calories and 30 grams of protein. I eat 2 or 3 each day.
  7. I eat a well balanced meal daily. I am for about 200 grams of protein, 40 grams of fat, 40 grams of fiber (women should get at least 25 grams of fiber), 50 to 150 grams of carbohydrates, as little sugar as possible. I love beans! I buy several different bags of different dry beans, mix them in a big plastic sealable container. When I make beans I measure 1/2 cup, soak them in water for 12 hours, and them replace the water. This reduces gas by 90%. I cook them in a small pot on the lowest flame, filled an inch from the top with fresh water. I cook them for 50 minutes, add my spices, and then cook them for 30 more minutes. I leave the lid on for the entire 1 1/2 hours. I add a tsp of cumin, cayenne pepper, 1/2 tsp of black pepper, a bundle of green onions, 4 diced cloves of garlic, 1 heaping tsp of bullion paste, and whatever else you like. I often add a small can of tomato sauce. I buy bags of boneless and skinless chicken thigs. I cook them all at once on Sunday, baked at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. I store them in the frig and eat them during the week, dipping the chicken in the bean sauce. I eat them as a meal. Beans contain a lot of fiber and protein. Beef has no fiber. Only 5% of Americans eat the RDA (recommended daily amount) of fiber. In 2017 I starved myself basically, denying my body many of the nutrients I needed. I did take a multi-vitamin. I was healthier than ever in 2017 after losing 70 pounds, but because I wasn't eating right, and hardly eating, I failed to keep the weight off. I was woefully ignorant of the things I know now.

I no longer need to take walks because I am going stir crazy to avoid eating, because I am eating something throughout the day. it is VERY important that I don't go over my calorie LIMIT for the day, which presently is 1,500 calories. Each person is different, so the number of calories you need in a day will be different than me. But basically, men burn 2,200 calories a day and women 1,800. It depends on your lifestyle, weight, genetics, et cetera. To find your maintenance calories, simply track your calorie intake for a week. Maintenance calories is the amount of calories you need to eat daily to maintain your present weight. Mine is about 2,000 a day. So I aim for 1,500 to create a caloric deficit. It will be harder to accomplish that eating pizza, junk food, donuts, burgers and fries, tacos, Doritos, et cetera. It is okay to eat those foods once in a while, but they tend to make you HUNGRIER because they spike your insulin, all being very high in carbohydrates. It's best to get your good carbs from broccoli and other veggies, and avoid the processed foods that are so tasty.

The bottom line is that you need to experiment and find out WHAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU! If you can eat meatball sandwiches, and still lose weight, go for it! I cannot eat foods like that without wanting more, and it leads to weight gain. I love fish. Two fillets of sea bass (barramundi) is only 100 calories each, providing 23 grams of protein each. High protein foods cause satiety, making the body feel satisfied. I avoid ALL fruit juices like toxic poison! You're drinking calories that won't make you feel full, literally consuming processed sugar. I love water and sometimes a  zero calorie can of ginger beer soda, or tonic water.

I have seen so many LIARS online claiming that you can eat any food you want and still lose weight. It won't happen if you do that all the time! Junk food is called junk food for a reason! I read somewhere than 60% of Americans are obese, which is a sin. It is wrong to let our bodies go to ruin. Hospitals are filled with Americans who smoked cigarettes to destroy their health. I think insurance companies ought to be able to deny such claims. We live in an insane culture, where you can knowingly destroy your own health, and then demand that other people pay for your health problems, even suing them if they refuse. That is crazy!

Americans are out of control—spending themselves recklessly into debt, perverse in their physical desires (partaking of the adulterous hookup culture), giving themselves lung cancer with cigarettes, raging in their tempers, greedy (suing everybody), impulsive, et cetera. Our nation continues to sink lower and lower into sin and wickedness. Each of us must take responsibility for our self.

There Are No Gimmicks To Losing Weight

Nearly everybody approaches obesity with the WRONG mindset, “How Do I Lose Weight?” But what we should all be asking is, “How Did I Become Obese?” The popular excuse is depression, but I think that is a symptom of our deteriorated American culture, not a cause. The cause of obesity is poor diet. When we eat the wrong foods, our body wants more of those horrible foods, and it becomes an addiction. Once we eat high glycemic foods, our insulin (the hormone that regulates sugar) spikes super high, which triggers binging. So if we eat LOW GLYCEMIC foods (barley, beans, green vegetables, most fruits, raw carrots, kidney beans, chickpeas, lentils and bran breakfast cereals), our insulin won't spike so high, and we won't binge eat everything in the barn.

95% of the things you read on the internet about losing weight are worthless! I tried lemons. I tried Green Tea. Nothing works! I've tried to Acceler8 and Elev8 pills for 3 months, which are garbage. I've taken massive amounts of Glucomannan pills, which are worthless. I've tried nearly everything there is to try, but NOTHING works! I've bought the gimmicks at Vitamin World and from Amazon.com to lose weight. Nothing helped! I've tried eating healthy instead of processed foods, but that didn't work either. I will say this, eating fresh is healthy and it will prevent you from gaining weight. We all gain weight from eating processed foods, and especially breads and sweets. But to lose weight, you have got to STARVE YOURSELF with intermittent fasting. That how I lost 70 pounds. I did intermittent fasting for a couple days, then a total fast for one day, and then a 1,200 to 1,500 calorie full meal at my favorite restaurant (but just one meal for the whole day).

Thankfully I haven't gained all my weight back yet, but I am fighting to lose weight. Lord willing, I want to move back to the United States very soon. I want access to a YMCA so I can use their steam room, which really helps sooth my neck pain and burning nerves throughout my body. Losing weight means discomfort, there's no way around it. The trick is to create the motivation that will EXCEED your discomfort. Think about the future! How will you feel in one month if you eat and don't lose weight? How will you feel if you lose 15 pounds?

Here's something encouraging. When I was 215 pounds and stage 4 diabetic at an A1C of 9.8%, my sugar dropped in JUST ONE MONTH to an A1C of 6.0%, when I weighed 185 pounds. So 10 of those pounds was merely emptying my stomach of food and water. So my true weight at 215 pounds was about 207 after 3 days of fasting. Now I was losing weight beyond that. When my weight hit 199 it was a milestone that encouraged me. So I literally lost about 22 pounds in just 30 days!!! Most of your weight loss won't come from walking, but from NOT EATING. Walking briskly for an hour only burns 200 calories. But your body will burn roughly 200 calories in just 2 hours sitting around the house.

Like Rocky's coach said in Rocky III:

Coach Mickey to Rocky: No, he ain't just another fighter! This guy is a wrecking machine! And he's hungry! Hell, you ain't been hungry since you won that belt.

If you want to lose weight, you've got to GET HUNGRY for it! I don't mean hungry for food. When your hunger to lose weight is greater than your hunger to stuff your face, YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT QUICKLY!!!

Pastor Kim Clement Is A Demonic False Teacher

2nd Peter 2:1, “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.” 1st John 4:1, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”

We have always had false prophets among us. Largely this is because of the love of money, which the Bible identifies as the root of all evil (1st Timothy 6:10). According to a quick Google search, Pastor Kim Clement has a net worth of $18,000,000. I tried to find out what Clement believes theologically, but it doesn't appear that he believes much of anything Biblically.

The Holy Bible plainly teaches that God only speaks today through His Son, Who is the Word of God (Revelation 19:13; John 1:1-3, 14). Hebrews 1:1-2, "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;" God does not speak through men, but through the Word of God. In John 5:39a Jesus told us to "Search the Scriptures."

Pastor Kim Clement rightly prophesied that Donald Trump would win the 2016 election. But that was a no brainer! President Barack Obama had already served TWO-TERMS in office. A Democrat hasn't follow a two-term Democrat U.S. President since 1836. I also predicted that Mr. Trump would win in 2016. Anybody could have guessed that! Clement is just another false teacher, financially preying upon the gullible and naïve. Kim's net worth was $18,000,000 at the time of his death in 2016. Kim was not a man of God, but a shyster.

In this YouTube video (at 12:20 time), Pastor Kim Clement quoted his alleged prophecy as if it were the Word of God, but it's not! Kim speaks of a "praying president," which term is not even found in the Bible. I couldn't even find that phrase in any Bible version. Kim is just making stuff up! Those are Kim's words, not God speaking through him. Please don't be deceived by this spiritual con artist. Sadly, as mentioned, Kim Clement died in 2016 from long-term health problems at only age 60. It is clear to me that Clement wasn't a Christian believer.

I am always amazed how the masses of people in the world will believe anyone except the Bible itself. John 5:43, "I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive."

Can You Look In The Mirror Knowing You Did Right?

Proverbs 27:19, “As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.”

Live so as you can answer to yourself! That is what our text passage means. When you look at your face in a calm body of water, you can see your reflection. Likewise, when we look into our own heart, we know what we really are. You can fool everybody else, but you cannot escape what you know about yourself. Romans 14:22, “Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. When you live in such a way that you can go to bed at night, and KNOW that you did the right thing, that is a great feeling.

If in your heart you know you are doing right, that is all you need to answer to. When you look in the mirror, you know what kind of person you are. Can you look yourself square in the eye and know that you did what was right? Proverbs 28:1, “The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion. When we do the right thing, we can have the boldness of a lion. There is no worse feeling than knowing that you did something wrong, and you are guilty, even if everyone believes you are innocent. And contrawise, even if everyone thinks you are guilty, there is no better feeling than to know in your heart of hearts that you are innocent.

Proverbs 15:3, “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. God is omnipresent, He sees all. Hebrews 4:13, Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.Dear reader, I don't care who you are, God sees everywhere you go and all that you do, Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” Nothing escapes the eyes of God. Judgment day is coming for every human being (Hebrews 9:27). We have a sin problem in America!

There is no greater reward than to be able to look yourself in the mirror, and know that you did what was right. If nobody knows you've sinned, you still know it! The ultimate of compliment is not when other people say nice things about you, but when you can look in the mirror and KNOW that you did what was right. You know what you think, others don't. You know the motives of your heart. We live in a world that is so perverted concerning what right is. In the final analysis you've got to answer to yourself. The doing of right is it's own reward!!!

We should value character more than personality. Talent seeks attention; wisdom pays attention. Americans have a perverted way of judging people. We look at their personality and judge them on that basis. Some of the most ungodly people in this world are very cordial, kind and sweet. The Devil is always smiling! The Bible says Satan appears as “an angel of light” (2nd Corinthians 11:14). The sad truth is that we'll vote for a friendly smiling crook before we'll vote for unfriendly man of character, honesty and decency. The Bible says a good person is one who has character. We ought to judge people based upon their character, not merely their charm and personality.

A Christian man recently wrote to me and said that he has a problem with looking at dirty naked pictures of women, indecency and smut. He said that he is “addicted” to internet filth and asked me what to do. Humbly, here is part of my response:

...Concerning addictions. Kindly, what you call an "addiction" is really a lack of character. 2nd Timothy 2:19, "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity." God does not command us to do anything impossible. If I choose to commit ANY sin, it is a lack of character. An addiction is simply a lack of character which has been permitted to get out of control. All addictions begin with a lack of character to do the right thing, and it gets worse. You can do right if you want to. Get rid of your computer if it is causing you to stumble. Jesus said to cut your hand off if it offends you, or pluck out your eye. He simply meant that the Bible is serious business, and people should take it as such. I am as much a struggling sinner as the next guy, so I am not condemning you, God forbid. We all lack character in some areas, otherwise we would be sinless and perfect, but only Jesus is sinless and perfect. 2nd Corinthians 10:5-6, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”

The way to stop lying is to tell the truth. The way to stop lusting is to respect the sacredness of marriage. The way to stop aborting children is to value the sanctity of life. I preach to myself first and foremost. We all lack character in some areas, otherwise we would be sinless and perfect, and only the Lamb of God is sinless and perfect. Hebrews 4:15, For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.Something that is woefully lacking in churches today is preaching against sin! That is why we see no revivals in churches today. If we want to have revival, we've got to get the sin out!

How To Win A Soul To Jesus

Proverbs 11:30, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” Mark 16:15, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

This tremendous soulwinning lesson is by Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001). This helpful information is taken from chapter 4 of Dr. Hyle's excellent book, “How to Boost Your Church Attendance.
The purpose of this chapter is not to deal with witnessing in public, but it primarily concerns the winning of souls to Christ in the home. It deals with the proper approach and some practical pointers to help one be a more effective soul winner. I have tried to put these principles into practice for a number of years, and God has blessed them with the salvation of literally hundreds of souls being won to Him in homes. May God use them to bless you and make you a winner of souls for Christ.
Last year alone over three hundred of our people won someone to Christ. Each of them was instructed through the following method, which is simple and easy enough for anyone to understand.

1. Be Clean and Neat. If a person is going to be a soul winner he must not be offensive to the people with whom he talks. It is a definite asset for a soul winner to be careful to bathe often, to avoid body odor. Teeth should be brushed, and the breath should be tested. Carry mints in your pockets or some good flavored chewing gum which will help keep the breath from being offensive. One of the most damaging things in soul winning is the effect of halitosis. By all means, a soul winner should watch this carefully. The soul winner should also be neatly dressed. A lady should be dressed conservatively, and I think it is best for a man to at least wear a shirt with a tie
2. Carry a Testament with You All the Time. One of the most effective methods that we have used is the carrying of two Testaments-one for you to read as you seek to win the person, and one for the unsaved person to read, or follow as you read. After he has given his heart to Jesus, then you may present him with the Testament that he has read from as a gift.

Testaments which are adequate for this type of work may be bought at most bookstores for about twenty-five cents each. It is our suggestion that a Testament is better to use than a Bible because it does not "give you away." As you get out of your car to walk to a house, a person might possibly see you carrying a Bible and immediately think that you are representing some cult or some false "ism" and build a mental barrier against you. Hence, it is usually better to carry a Testament in your pocket.

3. Be Soul Conscious. By this I simply mean to be aware everywhere you go that the people to whom you talk are going to spend eternity somewhere . . . the man who cuts your hair, the boy who shines your shoes, the man who fills your car with gas, the bread man, the milk man, the grocery man, the clerk at the drugstore, and the saleslady at the clothing store are all going to spend eternity somewhere. Make it a habit to ask people if they are Christians. This will be a blessing to you, and will give you a chance to witness to them. It is good to carry gospel tracts with you at all times in order that you may present one to a person who is not a Christian, that he may read it after you leave. This is effective to use when witnessing to people at work, who cannot stop their work for you to give them the plan of salvation.

Recently one of our soul winners was getting a shoe shine. Just before he asked the colored shine boy if he were a Christian, the shine boy looked up and asked the man if he were a Christian. Our church member responded with an affirmative answer, "Yes, you must be a Christian, too."

The colored boy replied, "Yes, sir, one of those Miller Road Baptist members won me to Jesus the other day while I was shining his shoes."

4. Go Two by Two. This is important! There are several reasons why God sent His disciples out in pairs, and certainly we should follow His example. Also, there is strength in numbers, and with another Christian present as a prayer warrior the soul winner is encouraged. However, the most important reasons that another person should go with you, apart from Scriptural reason, are to pave the way for absolute quietness, and to avoid any unnecessary disturbances while the soul winner is talking to the unsaved person. Such things as caring for the children, changing the baby, answering the door, turning the radio or television off can certainly be of value in the winning of souls to Christ.

5. Go with Different People. Many people think it is wise to team up with the same soul winning partner all of the time. However, this discourages the making of new soul winners. It seems advisable for a person who is an active soul winner to take a different person with him periodically so that the new visitor might actually see the winning of a soul. This is better than any study course a Christian can take.

6. Pray and Claim the Spirit Fullness before Going.

Before you go to the field you need to spend a few moments in prayer, simply asking God to bless you and to help you be a blessing to others. Also, claim His Spirit fullness by faith, asking Him to bless you as you go, and to prepare the hearts of those to whom you will talk.

7. Go Believing. The thing that transformed my soul winning life more than anything else was this one thing! Many times I would go to the fields to witness for Christ, not expecting to win anyone. When and if someone was converted I would actually be subconsciously surprised. However, it dawned on me one day that God wants to save people, and that as God was sending me out, He would save people. So, rather than going out defeated, an effort was made to go expecting to see someone saved. The increase that God gave to this attitude of faith was amazing.

8. Be Nice. Remember that the person to whom you are talking did not ask you to come. You are a guest in his home, and many times, an unwanted guest. A soul winner in a home cannot use the same frankness that the preacher can in the pulpit. It is necessary that a soul winner be nice and courteous, kind and understanding, as he goes into someone's home to talk to him about the Lord.

9. Be Careful about Going In. If a person is busy and obviously does not want to be disturbed, many times it is wise to tell him that you will not come in at this particular time, and suggest that you make an appointment for a later date when you may come back and talk to him about the Lord. This has proven effective in many cases.

10. Be Complimentary. As you enter someone's home, it is always good to be complimentary. If the children are sweet, tell them so. If the home is lovely mention it. It is good to be complimentary.

11. Let the One You are Visiting Talk of His Interests for a While. Ask him about his work, about the family, about his home town, and things of that nature. He will enjoy talking with you and speaking of his interests. One of the best points that a person can use is to be a good listener.

12. Have Only One Person Do the Talking. As you seek to win the person to Christ, let only one soul winner do the talking. Do not interrupt with your "two cents." You keep the road clear and keep the way paved for their privacy and pray! Do not pray with your eyes closed, however, as you may miss a chance to be of help by giving a child a drink, answering the door, or other things which might cause the lost person not to be free to listen carefully to the soul winner.

13. Stay on the Subject. Many times as you try to win a person he will ask questions that are irrelevant to salvation. When such a question is asked, it is usually good to say, "That is a good question. Remind me in a moment and I will answer that." Then, continue talking about the plan of salvation. Do not let yourself be sidetracked on less important issues.

14. Stay in the Same Book of the Bible. It seems that it would be confusing to a sinner for a soul winner to go all over the Bible in trying to explain his point. With isolated verses taken from all over the Scriptures anything can be proved; however, when a person stays in the same book of the Bible, near the same pages, the lost person can readily see that you are not trying to confuse him by taking isolated verses to prove your point. A good book to use is John, another one is Isaiah; however, I have found the most effective book to be Romans.

15. Draw a Map in Your Testament. Many people are young Christians and do not have the Scriptures memorized, nor can they find the ones that they must use to deal with the plan of salvation. To aid in this, a plan has been devised of drawing a map in the Bible or Testament one is using. For example, start with Romans 3:10. Then, beside Romans 3:10, write Romans 3:23, the next verse you will turn to. After you have explained Romans 3:23, have written beside this verse Romans 5:12, which shows you where to go from there. Then, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8, and finally Romans 10:9-11.

The lost person will not necessarily see what you have written in your Bible, as he will be looking on from the other Testament which you have handed him to use. This way you can direct yourself to the next Scripture, even though you may not know a single Scripture by heart, or do not know where to find the Scriptures pertaining to the plan of salvation.

16. Three Basic Questions Should Be Asked in the Conversation. First ask, "Are you a Christian?" Second, "Would you like to be a Christian?" Third, "If I were to show you in the Bible how to be a Christian, would you be willing to do what God says?"

The first of these three questions has often been disputed. Some prefer to ask "Are you saved?", or, "Are you born again?", or, "Do you know Jesus?" However, the simple question, "Are you a Christian?" might lead to asking other questions. The way the person answers your question would determine whether or not you should inquire further as to the sincerity of his profession. Then, if he wants to be a Christian, you may proceed. Remember this-it is God's business to prepare a soul. You cannot argue anyone into being a Christian. He must be ready; if he is not ready, you cannot argue him into it. Then, if he commits himself by saying he would be saved if he knew how, you have a definite committal that he will respond. If he says he will, then proceed immediately to show him the aforementioned Scriptures.

Following is the structure of the conversation that I have found helpful in dealing with most unsaved people with whom I talk:

Soul winner: "First, Mr. Blank, if a person is going to be saved, he needs to be saved from something. Let me show you why a person needs to be saved. Notice in Romans 3:10, `As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.' The word righteous means good; hence, there is none good, no, not one. If there is not one good-then I am not good. Is that right? If there is not one good, then you are not good. Is that right? Now, let us turn to Romans 3:23, `For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.' If all have sinned, then that means that I have sinned. If all have sinned, that means you have sinned. So, you see that all of the people in the world are sinners. There is none that doeth good. We are all gone out of the way; we are together become unprofitable, and we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God.

"Now, Mr. Blank, may I show you where the sin came from? Notice in Romans 5:12, `Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.' You recall that one man brought sin into all the world. You will also remember that this man was Adam in the garden of Eden. God made Adam and Eve. He put them in the garden. He told them that they could eat of every tree in the garden but one, and if and when they ate of that tree, they would die. Do your remember, Mr. Blank, whether or not they ate of that tree?"

Mr. Blank: "Yes, they did."

Soul Winner: "Yes, they did. When they did, they were separated from God. They died spiritually, and they became sinners. So, when they had children, their children were sinners, and their children were sinners, and their children were sinners-until finally, Mr. Blank, one day you were born, and the Bible says that you were born in sin. Though you were not accountable for it until you realized that you were a sinner, you were born going away from God. Mr. Blank, you are still going away from God; hence, you are a child of Adam.

"Now, would you look at and read Romans 6:23, `For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord'?

"Mr. Blank, God, in order to be a just God, must make us pay for our sins. God has said that you will not get by with sin-so, God must make us pay for sin. The price on sin is death. This death is a spiritual death which culminates in the second death, mentioned in Revelation 21:8 and Revelation 20:14, which is the Lake of Fire. Therefore, the ultimate price that man must pay for his sins is to suffer in the Lake of Fire-or to go to hell. That means, Mr. Blank, according to your own statement that you are not a Christian, and according to the Word of God, if you died today you would go to hell. Is that right?"

Mr. Blank: "Yes."

Soul Winner: "Mr. Blank, I am happy to tell you that God does not want you to go to hell. God loves you as you love your children. Just as you would make a way to save any wayward children of yours, even so God has made a plan to save you. Here is His plan. Please read Romans 5:8, `But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.' Mr. Blank, God looked down and saw that you were a sinner, and saw that you were going to hell. He did not want you to go to hell, so He came to earth in the form of a Man. His name was Jesus Christ. For thirty-three years He lived upon the earth-not once did He sin. Mr. Blank, if Jesus had sinned once, and the price of sin finally is the Lake of Fire, where would Jesus have had to go when He died?"

Mr. Blank: "To the Lake of Fire."

Soul Winner: "Exactly so. But He did not sin, did He?"

Mr. Blank: "No."

Soul Winner: "He was perfect. Not once did He have an evil thought, not once did He say a nasty word, not once did He drink a bottle of beer, not once did He do anything that was contrary to His Father's will. But Mr. Blank, on the Cross of Calvary Jesus Christ suffered spiritual separation from God, or the same thing that the sinner must suffer in hell. If He was not suffering it for His own sins, then He must have been suffering for someone else's sins. Do you have any idea for whom He was suffering?"

Mr. Blank: "He was suffering for you and me."

Soul Winner: "Exactly so. Now, if He was suffering for you and me, He was paying our debt. Is that right?"

Mr. Blank: "Yes."

Soul Winner: "Mr. Blank, if I went to the bank today, and paid off all of your debts at the bank, they would send a representative out to tell you about my payment. You would have one of two choices. You could say, `No, I will not accept his payment; I will pay my own debts.' If that were your answer, even though I had paid the price, you would still be in debt. However, on the other hand, you could say, `Of course, I will accept payment. I will receive the gift that Mr. Soul Winner gave me.' That moment, Mr. Blank, you would be free of debt. That moment the bank would wipe your debts completely clean. Now, Mr. Blank, you are in debt to God. You have sinned. Your record is in heaven. Jesus Christ went to the bank of heaven, as it were, and paid the full payment for all of your debts. He has paid for all of your sins. He sent me as His representative today to tell you about this. You can say one of two things: You can say, `No, I will pay my own debts. I will go to hell for myself.' Or, you can say, `Of course, I will accept a Saviour like that. I will accept His gift of eternal life, and receive Him as my Saviour.' That moment, Mr. Blank, you become a child of God, by receiving Christ as a Substitute for your sin, and taking Him in your heart as your Saviour.

"Now, Mr. Blank, let us sum up what we have said. Do you realize that you are a sinner?"

Mr. Blank: "Yes."

Soul Winner: "Do you realize that if you died today you would go to hell?" Mr. Blank: "Yes." Soul Winner: "Do you realize that Jesus died in your place, and suffered spiritual separation from God in your place?"

Mr. Blank: "Yes."

Soul Winner: "Do you realize that if you were to bow here, and seek God's forgiveness and take Christ as your Saviour today, by faith, God would make you His child?" Mr. Blank: "Yes."

Soul Winner: "Then, Mr. Blank, could we just bow our heads and hearts in prayer, and let me pray for you? While I pray you can consider giving your heart to the Lord Jesus. Shall we kneel?"

(Turn to Romans 10:13-read it to him and have him put his hand on that Scripture. You pray. Pray sincerely, simply and briefly. As you conclude your prayer, do not say "Amen.")

Soul Winner: "With our heads bowed, Mr. Blank, wouldn't you like to ask God to forgive your sins right now? Tell Him that you are sorry for your sins, tell Him you want to receive Christ as your Saviour now. Will you do it?" (Mr. Blank may pray a simple prayer. If not, you might ask him to pray after you sincerely.)

Soul Winner: "Mr. Blank, if you are willing now, the best you know how, to turn from sin, and give your heart to Christ in faith, would you please take my hand as if it were the hand of Jesus as a token thereof?" (Mr. Blank takes the soul winner's hand. The soul winner, while holding the convert's hand, should offer a prayer of thanksgiving to God for saving him.)

Soul Winner: "God bless you, Mr. Blank. Now, let me ask you a question. If the Bible is true-where would you go if you died now?"

Mr. Blank: "I would go to heaven."

Soul Winner: "Isn't that wonderful? Isn't God good to give eternal life to those who will receive him by faith?"

17. Lead Him to a Profession. After the person has been converted, ask him to promise to come to church the next possible service, and walk the aisle and let the pastor tell the people that he has been saved. It seems unwise to ask him to be baptized until he has made his profession. Then, at the altar, when he is making his profession, or later, the minister can speak with him about baptism.

18. Go by and Get the Convert the Next Sunday. It is an unusual experience for many new converts to come to church. Many of them have not been to church for months, or years. It would be much easier for them to come if you will offer to go by and bring them with you.

19. Sit with the Convert in the Service.

20. At the Close of the Service Offer to Go Down the Aisle with Him.

21. After He Has Made His Profession, United with the Church and Been Baptized, He is Still Your Child. Continue to watch over him, and help him. Ask him over to your house for refreshments. Fellowship with him, and make him feel at home in the service of the Lord.

22. Appoint a Committee to Go by and See the New Converts, as Well as the New Church Members. The week after they join the church, it is good to have a committee to go by and see the new converts and new members.

This group may carry a certificate of baptism, a copy of the church budget, a copy of some book advising young Christians how to grow in grace, any books written by the pastor, etc. These will be helpful and appreciated by the new converts and new church members.

23. Use the "Buddy" System. After the Sunday services each week, call someone who lives near the new convert and "assign" him the new convert. It is good for him to have the new convert over for refreshments, to make a visit into his home, and perhaps have his family over for a meal to try to get him acquainted with some of the church members.

This person's job also would be to help integrate the convert into the church program, and introduce him to as many people as possible.

Romans 2 Condemns The Lordship Salvation Crowd

Romans 1:1, “Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.”

Many Bible students don't understand this Bible verse, but it is very simple. You have to read the whole chapter, Romans chapter 2, to rightly divide this passage. The Jews were trying to earn their way to Heaven by keeping the Old Testament law. Paul is frustrated with them, trying to teach them here that they are hypocrites for even trying to turn from sin, because they cannot...

Romans 2:21-24, “Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God? For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.”
Are you listening Marty Herron? Are you listening Gary Walton? Are you listening Charles Phelps? Are you listening Steve Pettit? Are you listening Bob Jones University crowd? You haven't turned from your sins!!! What you've done to abuse me since 2014 is proof enough of that fact! I still don't attend church because Pastor Herron threw me under a bus and left me for dead. So now Harvest Baptist Church of Guam is sinfully holding a grudge against me, because I loved them enough to tell THE TRUTH in 2014 to help them. Run you Bob Jones heathens with your umpteen Devil's Bible revisions! Run Bob Jones crowd with your Devil's lie of Lordship Salvation! I'll side with Pastor Jack Hyles and the inspired and infallible King James Bible...
“The King James Bible crowd is going to come out on top!” —Pastor Jack Hyles, a quote from the sermon: The Battle Of The Ages
If you want to be close to God, whoever you may be, then you must humble yourself to THE TRUTH. Use only the King James Bible. Be pure of heart! You cannot draw close to God through corruptible seed. The English Standard Version (ESV) is corruptible seed, which BJU uses, sells and promotes. Shame on Bob Jones University!!! God desires to be close to you friend, but you must first embrace the truth of the Gospel of free grace. We are saved by faith alone, without works of any sort (Romans 4:4-6). Your best human effort and goodness is filth to God (Isaiah 64:6). Marty Herron has never turned from his sins!!! And neither have I. And neither have you. Nor has anyone else. We are all either redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus, or else you are still wallowing in the Devil's hogpen of sin. All Marty Herron has done is take his sins underground, living above reproach, but Marty is still a swinging dirty sinner!!!

Oh, what's that, you want Scriptural support? You got it Chumley! 1st Timothy 5:24, “Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.” We'll see what Marty Herron's Skelton Closet looks like in eternity, while he goes around hypocritically requiring everyone to turn from their sins to be saved. I cannot think of a worst crime against another human being, short of murdering them, then for a wicked selfish pastor like Gary Walton and Marty Herron to tell a hurting man like me that I am not allowed to attend Sunday church services. So I stay home on Sundays and watch The X-Files series and science fiction shows instead. Kindly, Fuddrucker them at Harvest! All I wanted was to quietly attend church services, but those religious cowards refused. What crappy pastors!

If I'm not right with God, then that is on Harvest's shameful pastors and foolish congregation who support them, because I haven't been allowed to attend church for 7 long years. My blood is on Marty Herron, Gary Walton and the entire Harvest Baptist Church of Guam. You guys define self-righteous hypocritical Pharisees!!! Romans 2:1 condemns you Harvest! Romans 1:1, “Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.” What gives you the right to demand that other people “turn from their sins” to be saved (i.e., keep the law), when your lives are full of sin too? That is exactly what the Apostle Paul is saying in Romans 2:1. YOU BOB JONES RELIGIOUS HYPOCRITES!!! The whole idea of turning away from one's sins to be saved is flawed from beginning to end.

The Lordship Salvation crowd go around telling everyone to “repent and turn away from your sin to be saved,” but the Bible says in Romans chapter 2 that they are hypocrites. NO ONE has ever turned away from their sin. No one tries to live as upright as Muslims, yet they are all hellbound without Jesus Christ. If forsaking a lifestyle of sin brings salvation, then Judas should have been saved (Matthew 27:3). Judas even returned the 30 pieces of silver, knowing that he and the Pharisees had betrayed innocent blood. The Pharisees couldn't have cared less, just like the Bob Jones crowd today have betrayed innocent blood and couldn't care less.

The truth means nothing to the Bob Jones social club. The accuracy of the Gospel means nothing to Harvest. The purity of the Holy Bible means nothing to Marty Herron. Gary Walton couldn't care less, while he spends the church's blood money at Home Depot. And I certainly mean nothing to any of them! Where dwelleth the love of God? (Romans 14:10). The Bob Jones crowd have no compassion, they're just a bunch of parasitical educators trained by academics, sucking a salary while the getting is good. God will have the ultimate say in all this, and their heads will roll (Romans 3:4).

Judas was a reformed man, he turned from his sins (Matthew 27:3), but he went to Hell forever. The Bible says Judas had a devil in him (John 6:70). Judas was one of Christ's very apostles, as close in a relationship as two people can become, yet they were light years apart. My point is that you can go to church every Sunday like Marty Herron and Gary Walton, and go through all the motions, even thinking you are close to God; and yet be so far away from God that Christ Himself will one day say the horrifying words to you: I NEVER KNEW YOU (Matthew 7:21-23). These people in Matthew 7:21-23 did many wonderful works and preached in Jesus' name. Yet Jesus denied knowing them. They failed to wholly rest in Christ, Who died as a sacrifice for our sins on the cross (John 6:40). Only those who completely REST in the name of Jesus will go to Heaven, and no one else!!!

The very idea that a person must forsake sinful living to be saved is rooted in self-righteousness. Pastor Herron, Gary Walton, Steve Pettit and Charles Phelps are looking inside themselves for righteousness, instead of wholly leaning on Jesus' name. You DON'T have to turn from anything to be saved except whatever has been hindering you from believing, which is UNBELIEF. To require a man to forsake his immoral behavior as a requirement to receive God's free gift of eternal life is to damn his soul to Hell forever. If you have turned from your sins to be saved, you might as well drive over a steep cliff at Glacier National Park in Montana to your death and go straight to Hell, because that is where you are headed friend.

Please understand that I do not write these articles to attack anyone, but to earnestly contend (fight) for the Christian faith (Titus 1:10-11; Ephesians 5:11; Jude 1:3). When men hurt me, deny me the opportunity to attend church, hinder me from finding a wife, and drive me away from my church family as an unwanted pest simply because I told THE TRUTH to help them, then I am most definitely going to preach against their wickedness! Something is wrong with Pastor Gary Walton. Something is wrong with the people at Harvest Baptist Church of Guam, when they permit Seventh-Day Adventist beliefs into their church. The truth matters folks, it really does! God desires to be close to you, but it must be on the basis of THE TRUTH. John 4:24, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Helps For Anyone Confused About Bible Repentance

Mark 2:17, “When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

In Mark 2:17 there is no indication that repentance means to turn from sin. Acts 20:21 teaches "repentance toward God." Jesus said in Matthew 21:32, "For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him." As we clearly see here, the sinners who repented, did so, by believing on the only begotten Son of God. This is what John 20:31 teaches as well, "But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name." The Gospel of John was written specifically to show humanity the way of salvation. The Gospel of John never mentions the word "repent" even once, because the man who believes (which is mentioned 85 times) has also repented.

All of those resources should prove very helpful my friend. It is important to understand that the English meaning of the word "repent" is NOT the same as the Biblical meaning of the word. Roman Catholics, Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh-Day Adventists, Mormons and Lordship Salvationists all use the English meaning of "turning from sin." The Greek meaning is simple " a change of mind." The Gospel (Good News) is that Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins. He was buried. Three days later He bodily resurrected from the dead by a miracle of God. That is all you have to believe to be saved. If you acknowledge your sinnership, receiving Christ's sacrifice on the cross as payment for those sins, you are eternally saved.

2nd Timothy 2:25-26, “In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.” You see, repentance has nothing to do with making an effort to stop your sinning. No one can stop their sinning! You may clean up your life, making great improvements to your character, like a pig all cleaned up from wallowing in the mud, but you are still a dirty sinner. That pig is still a pig. At best we can strive as saints to walk in the Spirit Who lives inside us, but the flesh is still with us until we get to Heaven (Romans 7:14-25).

The Bible never says to “turn from your sins” and believe the Gospel. No, it says in Mark 1:15 to “Repent ye, and believe the Gospel.” Repentance is a matter of acknowledging THE TRUTH (2nd Timothy 2:25) that one is a guilty sinner (Romans 3:19-20) and THE TRUTH of the Gospel. Salvation is a matter of embracing THE TRUTH, not of committing to improve one's character. I only emphasize those words "THE TRUTH" for emphasis, not to shout. The guilty sinner who earnestly “repents” has done so by putting his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Nothing more is required to receive the gift of eternal life. You have God's Word on it. John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

Salvation Is Not A Trial Basis, It Is A Free Gift

John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

As computer users, we nearly all know the frustration of finding software advertised online for “free,” but then after downloading and installing it, we learn that it's only free for a limited time, which is very deceptive! Usually such shady “free” offers end up being only on a trial basis for 14 days or a limited period, and then you either have to purchase the software or it won't work fully or at all. If I had my way, such manipulative advertising would be against the law!

Oftentimes we hear banks advertise that if you open up a new account, they will give you a “free” gift. But if it were truly free, you wouldn't have to do anything to get it! If you have to open up an account, then it is really a reward for opening a new account, and not a free gift at all. This is all deceptive advertising, and dishonest. The word “free” is perhaps the most misused, abused and misapplied word in the English language today.

The same goes for all the shady counterfeit plans of salvation being offered in many churches today. We often hear of these shady “free” offers for eternal life, that is said to be freely offered by God's grace through faith; yet at the same time they falsely advertise that you must “turn from your sins” or “be willing to turn from your sins” (which is effectively the same thing), or “follow Christ” or “make Jesus your 'Lord'” or “commit your life to God” or any number of things which are not part of the Gospel.

We are truly living in a time of universal deceit. It was prolific author George Orwell (1903-1950) who stated, “In times of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act!” That is very true! May I say kindly, yet boldly with all Biblical confidence, that the offer of eternal life is not on a trial basis. It is not limited to see how well you perform, or whether your life changes for the better, nor whether you like it or not, nor anything else. Salvation is a free gift from God, which is simply received by childlike faith in the Good News (Gospel) of Jesus Christ crucified on the cross, buried and bodily risen the third day (1st Corinthians 15:1-6)!

Unlike a lot of dishonest companies and shady internet ads, God is totally upfront and honest in His offer of eternal life. There are no hidden clauses, no fine print, and no strings attached in God's terms of salvation. God's gift of eternal life offered in the inspired King James Bible is not a free trial for 14 days! It is not shareware! It is not conditional upon you forsaking sin, living a holy life, amending your ways, or committing your life to God! It is a totally free gift, which you simply receive by faith in the Gospel!!!
