Romans 7:14-24, “For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?”
BEWARE of Gospel perverts who make repentance something complicated as an additional step to saving faith. You don't repent AND believe, you repent TO believe. Many churchgoers today are religious fools. There's no talking sense to an indoctrinated fool.
The inspired King James Bible from cover to cover is filled with sinful saints who had no remorse and continued living in sin. Lot comes to mind, who chose to move his family into the city of Sodom. Esau was a carnal sinner. Samson sinned up until his death, which was caused by his sins. Saul likewise was a horrible sinner, whose sins also caused his premature death. If Nathan the prophet hadn't confronted David after several months, it is unlikely that David ever would have repented of his evil adultery and murder.
Apart from faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, it is a fallacy for any religious person to view himself as being any less sinful than the worst sinner. There is no guarantee that a sinner will walk in holiness just because they are born again. That is why Galatians 5:25 commands believers to walk in the Spirit, because it is not an automatic thing, you must CHOOSE to do so. Many Christians choose to continue walking in the flesh, and they live like the Devil, but are safe and secure in God's promise of eternal life to them who BELIEVE (Romans 1:16).
There is no such thing as a "good Christian." The whole concept of living a holy life as part of sealing one's salvation is heresy. It is Christ's Spirit alone who LIVES THROUGH the redeemed child of God (Galatians 2:20), but each individual Christian must make that CHOICE on a moment by moment daily basis; walking in holiness is not automatic, nor something that is required to know or prove to someone else that you are saved.
Today's “repent of your sins” to be saved clergy are belligerent and have no desire or interest to learn. Clearly, many Baptists today are a hard core Calvinists, but refuse to admit it in honesty. Yet, their fruit (doctrine) exposes them as FALSE PROPHETS (1st John 4:1).
Humbly said, the Apostle Paul didn't waste his time arguing with indoctrinated religious fools, and neither will I. To God be the glory. Easy-believism is 100% biblical. Once saved, always saved (OSAS) is 100% biblical. You CAN live like the Devil and still have the sweet blessed assurance of knowing that your sins are forgiven and your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life in Heaven (Luke 10:20), but you suffer God's displeasure and chastisement of you as His disobedient child (Proverbs 3:12; Hebrews 12:6-8). Our earthly choices as believers will affect and determine our heavenly rewards (1st Corinthians 3:7-15; Daniel 12:2-3; Revelation 14:13). Will you be empty-handed at the Judgment Seat of Christ friend?
Pilgrim's Progress author John Bunyan (1628-1688) said it best, I humbly think...
“If you do not put a difference between justification wrought by the man Christ without and sanctification wrought by the Spirit of Christ within, you are not able to divide the Word aright; but contrariwise, you corrupt the Word of God, and cast stumbling blocks before the people.” —Evangelist John Bunyan
What a beautiful quote! John Bunyan is refuting the heresy of Lordship Salvation, which evil results when you combine service with salvation. To avoid perverting God's Gospel of grace, we absolutely must keep discipleship (sanctification) completely separate from sonship (justification). One thing has nothing to do with the other, and this is the key to having a proper understanding of God's simple plan of salvation.
I KNOW beyond any shadow of a doubt that I am saved because of what Jesus did FOR ME through His sacrificial death on Calvary's cross, burial and bodily resurrection; and not because of what I do for Him. Lordship Salvationists today are confused and backwards in their theology. They say we must live in holiness to know we are saved. They say if you have truly repented your life will be changed for better. That is Lordship Salvation, not a free grace Gospel. Calvinist, get thee behind me Satan!
There is simply no such thing as a “good Christian.” At best, I am a struggling redeemed sinner, and so are you if you are a born again believer. There are only two types of people: 1) unredeemed sinners, and 2) redeemed sinners. That's is, that's all, no more. That is to say, no matter how good of a Christian you may think you are, you're still a hell-deserving filthy sinner. The only reason why God sees you as being any more righteous than the vilest sinner who ever lived is simply because of His imputed righteousness, “the righteousness which is of God by faith” (Philippians 3:9b).
Apart from God's imputed righteousness to you and I by faith in Jesus Christ, we'd be just as guilty in God's sight as mass-murdering lunatic Jeffrey Dahmer (1960-1994). I hope you are understanding the biblical truth I am sharing with you, because it is critically important dear friend. You have no righteousness to offer God, and neither do I.
Dear reader, if you truly grasp the truth I have just shared with you, then it should be abundantly clear what is very wrong with the Devil's lie of repenting of your sinful ways to be saved. Lost sinners repent of unbelief to be saved; redeemed sinners repent of their sins to please their Lord. The truth is that no one has ever repented of their sins to be saved. Judas repented of his sins in Matthew 27:3, but sadly still died in his sins and went to Hell forever.
If you understand the truth that I've taught you in this humble blog, then it should be abundantly plain to see what is very wrong with the Devil's fraud of Lordship Salvation (i.e., requiring a sinner to “surrender all” to follow Jesus as controlling “Lord” of your life). We see a group of sinners who followed Jesus in Matthew 7:21-23, serving Him diligently and calling Jesus, “Lord, Lord,” but the story doesn't end well for them, not one bit. Jesus denied knowing them as His redeemed sheep, and they were tragically cast into Hell forever!
Do You Have God's Imputed Righteousness?
Again, to make sure that you understand what I am teaching from the inspired Word of God, the ONLY righteousness that any Christian possesses is the imputed righteousness of God. That is what the dear Savior means in Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” We need HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS to enter into God's Kingdom.
This is why we read in Romans 10:3-4, “For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” In the Old Testament, there are approximately 720 different commandments under the Mosaic law. To merit salvation a person would be required by God to perfectly keep every one of those commandments, statues, precepts and laws. No human being except Jesus has been able to achieve such perfection (Hebrews 4:15-16).
Good people do NOT go to Heaven. Only FORGIVEN (pardoned) sinners do. Only Jesus was 100% GOOD without sin or guile (1st Peter 2:21-24). Jesus died in our place on the cross of Calvary. We owed a sin debt that we could not pay. Jesus paid a sin debt that He did NOT owe. It only takes ONE sin to keep us out of Heaven (James 2:10). NO sin can be in the presence of a holy and just Almighty GOD. Jesus never sinned. He was as pure as the driven snow, beyond sin and reproach. I thank God for Jesus, who is “the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29b).
Whereas we sinners all fall short of the glory of God, Jesus perfectly fulfilled the law. This is why God the Father said He was pleased with His Son in Matthew 3:17, signifying that the Son was acceptable as a sacrifice for the sins of every human being.
I love the following passage of Scripture...
Romans 3:23-28, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.”
If you are saved, you didn't get saved by repenting to turn away from your sins! Jack Chick (1924-2016) errantly teaches in his billions of Chick Tracts (see the back page) that to be saved it is not enough to merely confess to being a needy sinner; but in addition, Jack Chick heretically says you must “be willing to turn from sin,” which he foolishly thinks means to repent. By God's grace for the past 23 years (since 2002) I have faithfully preached a free grace Gospel on social media, and have justly exposed the Satanic lies of repenting of sins and Lordship Salvation to get to Heaven. ...
Psalms 40:10, “I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.”
Dear reader, NO ONE has ever repented of their sins to be saved. If to “repent” means to forsake our sinful ways TO BE SAVED, but Jesus already paid for our sins by dying on the cross, then what are we repenting from? The truth is that “repent” does NOT mean to forsake your sinful ways, it means “to think differently.” Evangelist Alexander Marshall said it best...
“I HAVE NOT REPENTED ENOUGH”Yes, that is excellent. Brother Marshall is 100% correct, who plainly says that sinners are saved by BELIEVING THE GOSPEL; that is, he says, “to lay aside your wrong thoughts [Repentance] and believe the glad tidings [Gospel] that He proclaims to you.” Amen!
What do you mean? “I am not sorry enough for my sins.”
And if you were very sorry, would God be more willing to save you than He is now? “I think so.”
Then you are completely mistaken.
“But does it not say, unless we repent we shall perish?”
Yes; but what do you think is the Scriptural significance of “repentance”? If you say “sorrow for sin” you are wrong. It does not mean sorrow for sin: it means a CHANGE OF MIND (Matt. 21:29). This change will doubtless produce sorrow; but sorrow and repentance are two very different things (Heb. 12:17. margin, and II Cor. 7:9). When God calls on you to “repent, and believe the Gospel,” He wishes you to lay aside your wrong thoughts, and believe the glad tidings that He proclaims to you. Formerly you may have imagined that you were required to feel very sorry before being saved. Change your mind. You may have supposed you must first “feel” some great change in order to know you were saved. Change your mind. First believe in God's great love to you, as revealed in His gospel, and you will KNOW that you have eternal life (John 5:24). SOURCE
There is no such thing as a “good Christian.” The Holy Bible teaches that we cannot live the Christian life of our own accord. Jesus lives through us. Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” I cherish that Bible verse! This is why I humbly say that there is nothing good about me except Jesus. My dear Savior, Holy Spirit and the heavenly Father, live inside the spirit, soul and body of every saint of God (1st Corinthians 3:16-17; Romans 8:9; 1st John 3:24).
No believer has ever merited eternal life by consciously turning away from sinful behavior. It is only by the precious blood of Jesus that any of us will ever escape God's wrath in the fires of Hell. Romans 5:9, “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” Thank God for the applied blood of the Lamb to the Mercy Seat in Heaven (Hebrews 9:12, 22-24; 12:24). The only goodness I have is Christ in me. Apart from that I am just a hopeless sinner. God's righteousness is my only righteousness!!!
So the next time you hear some knucklehead pastor saying that you must “repent of your sins” to get to Heaven, you kindly tell him that Jesus Christ has already paid for your sins, which makes eternal life a free gift that need only be received by childlike faith in the GOOD NEWS Christ crucified, buried and risen. 1st Thessalonians 4:14, “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.” Thank you for reading my ministry blog. To God alone by the credit, praise and glory.
