Jonah 3:10, “And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.”
One of the biggest false teachings today is the lie that to be saved you must “repent of your sins.” What they mean is that you must forsake a lifestyle of sinning. They errantly think you are required by God to make an effort to stop sinning. They erroneously call this repentance, but this is not Bible repentance. What hypocrites! None of them have ever turned from their sinning. Even the best Christian still chooses to sin (Romans 7:14-25). What they are teaching is in fact reformation (a change of behavior). They are teaching penitence (sorrow for sins). They are teaching penance (making a mend for one's sins). Repenting of your sins is actually keeping you from coming to Christ to be saved.
In Matthew 27:3b we read that “Judas repented himself.” The Greek word used here is “metamellomai” which means “to care afterwards, i.e., regret.” This is penitence, not true Bible repentance for salvation. This is a VERY different word than the word “repent” concerning salvation used in Mark 1:15, “metanoeo,” which means, “to think differently.” In every case of a Scripture passage teaching about salvation, either the Greek noun “metanoia” (a change of mind is used, or the Greek verb “metanoeo” *to think differently). Turning from your sins is NOT accepting God's free gift of eternal life, it is trying to pitch in and do your part to help Christ save you. The only ones going to Heaven are the EASY-BELIEVISM people.
Beware Of The Devil's Modern Corrupt Bibles
Turning from your sins is self-righteousness. You cannot show me anywhere in the inspired King James Bible where is teaches to repent “of your sins.” Wicked men ADDED those words. What saith the Scripture? Proverbs 30:5-6, “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” See for yourself how corrupt today's Bible revisions really are...
Beware Of The Devil's Corrupt Bible Revisions!
All of the ignorant preachers and laymen today who are saying that you must “turn from your sin” to get to Heaven are woefully deceived. They are teaching a different meaning of repentance than the inspired King James Bible teaches. By the way, please avoid ALL modern Bible revisions, because Satan has corrupted them. Here's are some examples how the modern Bible versions corrupt God's intended meaning of repentance...
KING JAMES BIBLE (KJB) — Mark 1:15, “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” [emphasis added]
EASY-TO-READ VERSION (ERV) — Mark 1:15, “He said, “The right time is now here. God’s kingdom is very near. Change your hearts and lives, and believe the Good News!” [emphasis added]
NEW LIFE VERSION (NLV) - Mark 1:15, “He said, 'The time has come. The holy nation of God is near. Be sorry for your sins, turn from them, and believe the Good News.'” [emphasis added]
GOOD NEWS TRANSLATION (GNT) - Mark 1:15, “The right time has come,” he said, “and the Kingdom of God is near! Turn away from your sins and believe the Good News!” [emphasis added]
COMMON ENGLISH BIBLE (CEB) - Mark 1:15, “saying, 'Now is the time! Here comes God’s kingdom! Change your hearts and lives, and trust this good news!'” [emphasis added]
LIVING BIBLE (TLB) - Mark 1:15, “At last the time has come!” he announced. “God’s Kingdom is near! Turn from your sins and act on this glorious news!” [emphasis added]
As I have just showed you, what the modern Bible versions are teaching is DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT than what the inspired King James Bible reads. Either repentance means “to turn away from sins” or it means “to change your mind,” but it cannot mean both. In the Word of God, the word for “repent” is metanoia, which only means “a change of mind.” We don't know what to change our mind about, because the word itself doesn't tell us. It is an open-ended all-inclusive term, which requires supplemental information. God did this deliberately, so that repentance would include anything and everything which hinders a person from believing the Gospel. Hence, to “repent” means to think differently about whatever it is that has been hindering you from BELIEVING THE GOSPEL to be saved. Giving up your lifestyle of sinning would be WORKS! We're not saved by anything we do, or don't do; we are saved by BELIEVING ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST (Acts 16:30-31).
Here are some important contrasts between the Biblical Gospel verses demonic Lordship Salvation...

1st Corinthians 1:21, “For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” Please notice that the Bible doesn't say God “saves them that repent”; no, it says, “TO SAVE THEM THAT BELIEVE”! But don't you have to repent to be saved? Yes, but repentance is automatic. No one has ever believed the Gospel who didn't simultaneously turn away from unbelief. You obviously have to turn FROM something in order to turn TO something, but we are not saved by turning from anything, we are saved by BELIEVING on the name of Jesus. John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”
This is why we find the words “believe,” “believest” and “believeth” mentioned 87 times in the Gospel of John, which is God's Gospel tract according to John 20:31, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” Not once, NOT ONCE, is any mention made of “repentance” in the Gospel of John. The word “repent” is not mentioned even once! That is because repentance is an automatic thing. That is, the person who believes has also repented. No one can place their trust in the Gospel without first turning away from whatever was hindering them from believing the Gospel in the first place. Therefore, it is not necessary to mention repentance when sharing the Gospel with someone.
As I have warned you before from the holy Scriptures, so warn I you again (all you independent Baptist pastors, non-denominational, et cetera), “beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked” (2nd Peter 3:17). Sadly, I have found that often church congregations control the pastor. They hire a slackdog ecumenical pastor from the get-go, expecting apostasy from the very beginning, and that's what they get!!! America was much better off spiritually when being a pastor meant having “a call” instead of being a mere “profession.” Today church pastors are shameful, despising and standing afar off from truth-tellers like me, who actually care about doctrinal integrity, care about the purity of the Word of God, and care about the accuracy of the Gospel. Galatians 4:16, “Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?”
Turning from your sins is not accepting God's free gift of eternal life. You are in fact trusting to some extent in yourself, by saying “I have repented of all MY sins.” This is a wicked heretical doctrine of devils which has crept into most Baptist churches today, damning those who embrace this false doctrine.
They need to repent of their “repent of your sins” heresy to be saved.
Here is the best quote that I've found on repentance, by Dr. Harry A. Ironside (1876-1951):
“Which comes first, repentance or faith? In Scripture we read, 'Repent ye, and believe the gospel.' Yet we find true believers exhorted to 'repent, and do the first works.' So intimately are the two related that you cannot have one without the other. The man who believes God repents; the repentant soul puts his trust in the Lord when the Gospel is revealed to him. Theologians may wrangle over this, but the fact is, no man repents until the Holy Spirit produces repentance in his soul through the truth. No man believes the Gospel and rests in it for his own salvation until he has judged himself as a needy sinner before God. And this is repentance.” (Except Ye Repent, p. 16)Wow! Now dear reader do you understand why I preach so often against the Devil's modern Bible PERversions? Nobody goes to Heaven because he repented of his sins. The only people who goes to Heaven are those who trust in Jesus Christ alone, and they put all their faith in what He did. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He was buried. Three days later He miraculously resurrected from the dead. They need to repent of their false repentance to be saved.
“Religious people go to Hell; Saved people go to Heaven. Don't ever blame religion on God. He didn't come up with it, Satan did. Religion is of the Devil; Salvation is of the Lord.” —Pastor Al Lacy (a quote from the sermon titled: “No Unbelievers In Hell”
Repenting of your sins is actually keeping you from coming to Christ to be saved.
Good works are not the payment for sin, the payment for sin is death.
Salvation is not a reward for the righteous, it is a gift for the guilty!
Salvation is not doing your best, it is having Christ's best put to your account through receiving Him by faith.
Turning away from sinful ways would be a work. Faith puts all of the merit where it belongs, on the object of our faith, Jesus and His work.
If to “repent” means to forsake our sinful ways TO BE SAVED, but Jesus already paid for our sins by dying on the cross, then what are we repenting from?
The true Gospel always points you to CHRIST; a false gospel always points to YOU.
The Gospel is not “turn from your sin and wicked way,” and then SECOND, trust Jesus Christ. The Gospel is the 'GOOD NEWS' that Jesus is the Christ who died on a cross to pay for our sins. He was buried. Three days later Jesus physically resurrected from the dead. These three things are 'THE GOSPEL.' Jesus' death, burial and resurrection comprise the Gospel. Whosoever BELIEVES IT is saved. Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” When you hear the Gospel (Good News) preached, and you put your faith (confidence, trust) in it, you are saved. That is why the Apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 3:2, “This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?” I love that last phrase... BY THE HEARING OF FAITH.
In Acts 2:41b, the Bible says that 3,000 people “gladly received his word” and were saved. That is, while the Apostle Peter was preaching the 'GOOD NEWS' of Jesus Christ crucified, buried and risen for their sins, the people BELIEVED IT and were saved. Getting saved is that easy and simple! To get to Heaven dear friend, you just need to BELIEVE that Jesus did it all for you. Faith is the only righteous thing that I can do.
Remember, Judas repented of his sins and still went to Hell. Judas had a devil in him (John 6:70). Jesus said that it would have been better for Judas if he had never been born (Matthew 26:24). Dear reader, if you don't think turn from your sins is a WORK, you are woefully mistaken. Jesus was asked by some people what WORK they needed to do to please God. John 6:28-29, “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” The only “WORK” which God requires or allows to enter into the Kingdom of God is to BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. Faith is the only righteous thing that I can do. Thank you for reading.
