Acts 15:1 and 24, “And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved. ...Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:”
Dear reader, there is not one mention in the King James Bible about repenting of your sins to be saved. We do read about repentance TOWARD GOD in Acts 20:21, “Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” We do read about repentance to the acknowledgment of THE TRUTH in 2nd Timothy 2:25, “In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;” But we do not find anything in the Holy Bible about repenting, nor turning away from, our sins to receive God's free gift of eternal life.
So you see, anybody who adds “turning away from your sins” to be saved is perverting the Gospel of free grace! This is no trifle matter. Neo-evangelicals like the Bob Jones University crowd today, make light of this issue, sinfully bidding Godspeed to damnable false teachers like Pastor John MacArthur. Dear friend, if you have repented of your sins to get to Heaven, you are NOT a born-again Christian and you assuredly WON'T go to Heaven when you die.
Adding repentance from sins is equivalent to adding the works of the law to be saved. They are one and the same! What do you think “the works of the law” are? What saith the Scripture? Romans 3:19-20, “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
I am sick and tired of these middle of the road type of preachers today, like Dr. Kevin Bauder, who claim that Lordship Salvation still falls within the acceptable realm of orthodox Christians. No, it does not! Lordship Salvation is a deadly perversion of God's grace! (awesome writing by Pastor Curtis Hutson, 1934-1995).
