Looking Unto Jesus The Author And Finisher Of Our Faith

Hebrews 12:2-3, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

I have been thinking about these precious Bible passages a lot recently, which help me get through each day. What a precious truth! Please notice what verse 3 says. Hebrews 12:3, “For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” We are supposed to compare our afflictions and pain in our life to what Jesus suffered. The Lord's life wasn't a bed of roses. Some believers wear rose-colored glasses, not realizing that problems, pain, loss, suffering and people hurting us are all a part of this life. I don't like those things, but this is reality. 

I have heard countless people speak of moving into rural areas, just so they can live alone and escape the rat race in the cities. There's a heavy metal song by the rock band Guns And Roses called “Welcome To The Jungle.” This world certainly is a jungle! And the bigger the city the worse the problems, poverty and more dangerous the jungle. Pastor Jack Hyles used to warn us preacher boys at Hyles-Anderson College, saying: “Fellas, it's a jungle out there!” Dr. Hyles knew what he was talking about!!! The world is a jungle. America in 2021 has gone totally insane!

I saw a police video this week of a Columbus, Ohio police officer responding to a 911 call. The caller was frantic and said two girls were fighting, trying to stab each other, one attacking the grandma. When the cop arrived, one crazed man kicked a woman in the head on the ground. Just a second later, a 16 year old girl (weighing about 200 pounds) lunged right in front of the cop with a big 6" knife at another teenage girl's head to stab her. The office fired 4 shots and killed the assailant. It was a sad event, but the officer 100% did his job and deserves a medal of honor for bravery. What an expert marksman!

The brave officer could have done nothing, afraid of accidently shooting the wrong girl, but he took deceive action as a hero does, and saved the victim. The liberal insane left media actually blamed the cop, demanding his arrest and wanting justice. One black politician said that the cop brought a gun to a knife fight. Folks, it wasn't a knife fight. The victim was unarmed, as the angry girl lunged at her head with a big knife. That is called an attempted stabbing, attempted murder, not a knife fight on the playground. But do you see how wicked the Devil's crowd is? That officer deserves to be on the cover of Time magazine's Man Of The Year, for the hero that he is. But that will never happen, because of the liberal Marxists today who see everything only through a filter of skin color. To the man with a hammer in his hand, everything looks like a nail sticking up! And to these Black Lives Matter (BLM) supporters, everything is about skin color, no matter how insane their claims and lack of rational.

I love black people, Asians, whites, Indians, Middle Eastern and all humanity with God's unconditional love, but this liberal left Marxist agenda that is attempting to destroy harmony in society today is of the Devil. Friend, you need to understand history to grasp what is going on today. The following eye-opening statement was made in 1954 by Gregory Brock Chisholm (first head of the World Health Organization):

What we are seeing happen in the United States today with climate control, homosexual rights, affirmative action hiring, blatantly open borders, transgender cancel culture, COVID-19 lockdown and Black Lives Matter is all a secret Marxist agenda to increase GOVERNMENT CONTROL. Total government is communism! Welcome to the sinister NEW WORLD ORDER!!!

What are we to do as believers amidst this utter insanity and obvious evil workings? Jesus told us in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Be of good cheer my friends!!! As Christians we ought to have God's love shining upon our face from within everywhere we go. If you are saved, and you're not smiling everywhere you go, you're not walking with God, you're thinking about the things of this world. Colossians 3:1-3 commands every believer (every born-again saint) to SET YOUR AFFECTION ON THINGS ABOVE, where Christ sitteth on the Father's right hand. 

Dear friend, if you are saved you're name is written in Heaven. I have found that many professed Christians are miserable because they have never settled the matter of their salvation. Salvation is of the Lord (Jonah 2:9). I cannot save myself, and neither can you save yourself. That is why it is so wrong and absurd that the Lordship Salvation crowd goes around in the churches, hypocritically telling people to “turn away from your sin” to be saved. Who can turn from their sin? Psalm 130:3, “If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?” Don't judge others because they sin differently than you do! We are all dirty, guilty and needy sinners in God's sight. 

Dear reader, to be saved LOOK TO JESUS! If you are saved, then LOOK TO JESUS throughout your life in all matters of faith, morality and decision making. Jesus is the Word of God (John 1:1-3, 14; Revelation 19:13). Jesus is the Living Word; the Holy Bible is the Written Word. Hebrews 1:1-2 teaches that God speaks to humanity today through His Son, through the Word of God. That is why Jesus said in John 5:39, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”

Whatever problems you face today, LOOK TO JESUS! Whatever permanent health problems you may have, LOOK TO JESUS! Whatever failures, loss, family troubles, past crimes, sins or shortcomings you have in your Skelton Closet, LOOK TO JESUS! Get your mind off this dark and insane world. Get your mind off yourself, because you are inferior as a sinner. Get your mind off your friends, family and neighbours, because they will all let you down as sinners. Get your mind off of money, because the love of money is the root of all evil. Get your mind off this temporary life, and start focusing on laying up eternal treasures (Matthew 6:19-20).
