2nd Timothy 3:7, “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
Just out of curiosity, I typed “Searching for God” on Google. Interestingly, the first result was to an article from the Huffington Post. I was saddened to read the following information. Dear reader, this is what Google returned at the top of a search for God:
Here are the five ways to help along this spiritual transformation inside yourself:
- Change your thinking about yourself and about God.
- Regard every thought of God as God.
- Practice believing that God dwells in you already.
- Remember that God dwells in all others, too.
- Be still and know that I am God.
The preceding information on how to search for God was authored by Dr. Steve McSwain, who is a Speaker, Author, Counselor to Congregations, Interfaith Ambassador and Spiritual Teacher according to the Huffington Post article. The preceding five bits of advice are spiritually deceptive, misleading and dangerous. Kindly said, Dr. McSwain is teaching New Age doctrine. New Age is rooted in pantheism, the concept that everything in the universe is God. That is why Dr. McSwain says, “Practice believing that God dwells in you already” and “Remember that God dwells in all others, too.” The truth according to the Bible is that God created everything, but God does not dwell inside you unless you are His child. Romans 8:9, “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” Also, see 1st Corinthians 3:16-17 and 1st John 3:24.
Our text Bible verse from 2nd Timothy 3:7 says that the unsaved world is “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” Dr. Stephen Hawking (1942-2018) was one of the most educated men who ever lived, whose career was as a Theoretical Physicist, yet he died a broken, miserable and unsaved man, who is sadly undoubtedly burning in Hell forever. Stephen Hawing was an avowed atheist. According to Wikipedia:
...Hawking was an atheist and believed that "the universe is governed by the laws of science". He stated: "There is a fundamental difference between religion, which is based on authority, [and] science, which is based on observation and reason. Science will win because it works."[368] In an interview published in The Guardian, Hawking regarded "the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail", and the concept of an afterlife as a "fairy story for people afraid of the dark". In 2011, narrating the first episode of the American television series Curiosity on the Discovery Channel, Hawking declared:
We are each free to believe what we want and it is my view that the simplest explanation is there is no God. No one created the universe and no one directs our fate. This leads me to a profound realisation. There is probably no heaven, and no afterlife either. We have this one life to appreciate the grand design of the universe, and for that, I am extremely grateful.
It is truly sad and tragic reading the statements of atheists. I feel sorry for Stephen Hawking, that he didn't have the blessed assurance of eternal life that I have as a born-again Bible-believing Christian. You too can have eternal life through faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
Carefully notice that Dr. Steve McSwain doesn't quote any Bible references when telling people how to search for God. My friend, you cannot find God apart from the inspired Holy Bible. The way to God is only through Jesus Christ. 1st John 2:22-23, “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.” No one, and I mean NO ONE, will ever find God who rejects Jesus Christ as the Son of God!!! If you want to find God, then you need the blessed Savior.
That is why God authored the Bible and gave it to mankind, so we could learn about Jesus. That is why the Devil has gotten into the Bible publishing business, to confuse everyone and obscure the truth, attacking the deity of Christ in the modern revisions. John 5:39, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” The Scriptures testify of Jesus Christ, who is the way to God the Father. John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” So if you have have been searching for God, the search is over dear friend if you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. He wants to be your Savior, very much so. Here is an amazing passage of Scripture...
Romans 5:6-8, “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”
Christ died for ungodly sinners like you and me. The price has been paid with Jesus' precious blood (1st Peter 1:18-19). You can be spared God's wrath in Hell forever, by putting your trust in what Christ has done on the cross to pay for your sins. The way to God is only through Jesus Christ. 1st Timothy 3:16, “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
Dr. Steve McSwain is an unsaved false teacher, who will lead you into the fires of Hell with him. Mr. McSwain is pulling on the same rope as the Devil, although he is no doubt sincere. The unsaved man thinks very differently than the saved man. 1st John 5:20 says that JESUS IS GOD AND ETERNAL LIFE!!! If you have the Son, you have found God! McSwain is wrong that God lives inside of everyone. Jesus as God Created all things (John 1:1-3, 14). All men have some knowledge of God and a conscience (Romans 1:20; 2:15). God is not all things, and all things God. Pantheism is a lie. God is a person, just like you and me. We were created in the image of God, as male and female (Romans 1:27). You can become friends with God, as did Abraham (James 2:23).
The heathen world is “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (2nd Timothy 3:7). The world would rather spend a lifetime searching for answers, than simply accept THE TRUTH! The reason why they don't is because it is foolishness to them. 1st Corinthians 1:18 and 21, “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. ...For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”
