Be careful dear friend how you talk to your Creator! One of the most horrible sins in to use God's name in an irreverent way. One of the “PROOFS” of God's existence is man's inherent tendency to carelessly utter the name of God at the greatest moments of pain, pleasure, happiness and anger (e.g., “Oh God!” or “My God!”). You are dishonest if you deny this truth. Even professed atheists, who deny God's very existence, feel the compulsion to utter His name in their utmost times of pain, pleasure, joy and anger. There must be a reason for this natural phenomena! Pastor Jack Hyles preached a helpful sermon titled: “Your Need Is His Proof.”
The Holy Scriptures teach that it is a sin—breaking the THIRD COMMANDMENTS of the Lord's holy TEN COMMANDMENTS—to utter God's name in a meaningless and empty way. People often refer to preachers as “REVEREND,” but only God is truly reverend. The word “reverence” is mentioned only once in the Holy Bible, and is used to describe the Lord Himself. Psalms 89:7, “God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.” The heathen world does not reverence nor fear God. Instead, they blaspheme and curse God's name, desecrating the precious name of His only begotten Son, Jesus! John 5:23, “That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.” The way we honor God the Father, is by honoring God the Son!
God's last name is not “DAMN!” Hollywood is guilty, guilty, guilty!!! Dear reader, if the truth were known, you'd be shocked! The average Hollywood movie takes God's name in vain a dozen times! If we were to add up all the instances where God's name, and the name of His dear Son, are blasphemed and cursed in Hollywood, I guarantee you that it would amount to MILLIONS OF TIMES!!! Taking the Lord's name is the insignia of Hollywood, as well as breaking all of God's Commandments! Violence, adultery, murder, bearing false witness, covetousness, stealing and idolatry permeate Hollywood movies today. There is a spirit of Satanism at work in the entertainment industry today—promoting gore, blood, immorality, and all manner of wickedness! The reason why Luciferians are promoting all this is to destroy society. It is all intended to demoralize the individual, destroy the traditional family, and to desensitize the sinner, so that sin is no longer exceedingly sinful (Romans 7:13).
It is a very horrible sin to take the Lord's name in vain. The word “unholy” means to treat something common, as you would a spare tire. Hebrews 10:29, “Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?” Anyone who disregards SACRED THINGS, treating them as being frivolous, trifle or common is to sin against God.
Get Into The Habit Of Praising And Thanking The Lord Verbally
Cursing in the Lord's name is a sinful HABIT, like most anything else. That is why Hollywood scripts deliberately pay actors to repeatedly curse in the Savior's name, thousands upon thousands of times over the course of a year in film making—they want YOU, the viewer, to adopt that horrible sinful HABIT. Albeit, just as a bad habit of cursing can be developed, so also can a good habit of praising the Lord from a thankful heart be developed. It really comes down to our thought life. We are what we think, which is greatly influenced by what we choose to see and hear on a daily basis. Do you know it is impossible to curse God at the same time you are thanking and praising Him? Psalms 135:3, “Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.” I love this Bible passage from Psalms 107:1-2, “O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;” God is so good; let the redeemed of the Lord SAY SO!The following helpful principles are from a Wednesday evening church Bible study, by one of my favorite preachers, Pastor Jeff Owens. The sermon is titled: 'Growing In Your Ability To Handle Depression,' but the principles are the same for developing good character; it all starts with having a Christlike attitude in our thinking:
- “You are what you think. Control your thinking!”
- “You'll do better in life if you keep your sin confessed.”
- “Most people must work their way out of depression! Stay busy!”
- “Remember, God's good all the time!”
- “Want to have joy; want to be happy! Give it to God!”
Marriage and the bed are sacred (Hebrews 13:4). The human body and modesty are sacred (1st Corinthians 3:16-17). The Holy Bible is sacred (John 17:17). The precious blood of Jesus is sacred (1st Peter 1:18-19). Life in a mother's womb is sacred (Jeremiah 1:5). Abortion is first-degree murder! God's name is sacred!!! We ought to always show reverence for God, the name of God, His dear Son, and the sacred things of God. We are living in a wicked generation that does not look up! God will not bless a people who sinfully curse in His name, and who lack fear and reverence for the Lord. Man's whole duty is to obey God. Obeying God is what life is all about! Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
