For example: Mark 1:15 in the Easy-To-Read Version (ERV) redefines repentance for salvation to mean that you must change your heart and life to be saved. That is not what the Word of God teaches. The Greek word for “repent” in Mark 1:15 in the King James Bible is metanoeo, which means, “to think differently.” It is a change of mind. It DOESN'T mean to “change your hearts and lives,” which is what the corrupt ERV says!!! . . .
KING JAMES BIBLE (KJB) — Mark 1:15, “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” [emphasis added]
EASY-TO-READ VERSION (ERV) — Mark 1:15, “He said, “The right time is now here. God’s kingdom is very near. Change your hearts and lives, and believe the Good News!” [emphasis added]The ERV is wrong, wrong, wrong! You don't have to change your own life as a requirement to be saved. Rather, it is the indwelling Holy Spirit that comes into a person at the time of salvation that changes one's heart and life, over time as they grow in grace by nurturing on the milk of the Word (1st Peter 2:2). A changed life is a matter of Discipleship, not Salvation. Anyone who tells you that you must change your ways, habits or sinful deathstyle to be saved is a BIG LIAR! Eternal life is a gift (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9). A gift can simply be received, not achieved. Ephesians 2:10 says that God saves us UNTO GOOD WORKS, not BY GOOD WORKS. No believer has God's permission to sin (Romans 3:31). Hebrews 12:6-8 teaches that God chastises and scourges disobedient children. So, obviously, God has disobedient children. We all disobey at times, and then are chastened and scourged, and we learn from it.
If you hear anyone adding to the Gospel, run away! 1st Corinthians 15:1-4 simply teaches that the Gospel is Christ's death on the cross for our sins, His burial, and His bodily resurrection three days later. If you admit that you are a guilty sinner in God's holy eyes (Romans 3:19; Romans 3:23; Galatians 3:24-26), and you believe the Gospel, you are immediately and forever securely saved by the promise of God. Philippians 3:9, “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.” Salvation is wholly of God, and not in the least degree by man or human effort. Our part is simply to BELIEVE. John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
I love you in the Lord, whoever you may be, and I plead with you to receive Christ now if you've never done so. Contrary to the heresy taught on Unshackled, you can believe on the name of Jesus Christ, be instantly born-again, write your name in the back of your King James Bible, and rest safe and secure for the rest of your earthly life that you are God's child, REGARDLESS OF HOW YOU CHOOSE TO LIVE YOUR LIFE!!! Anyone who teaches differently, requiring that you reform your behavior as part of being saved, is a total satanic heretic teaching a false plan of salvation (which is ANOTHER GOSPEL).
Salvation is a miraculous NEW BIRTH wrought solely by God through faith (John 1:12-13), not reformation or changing of one's heart and life. Lordship Salvation is of the Devil, and those who trust in it WILL BURN IN HELL FOREVER AND EVER. Please don't go to Hell. The gate which leadeth unto life is very narrow (Matthew 7:13-14), because it is so simple that most people pass right by it, and instead adopt some manmade plan of salvation based upon human effort (works).
