Precious Story From The Life Of Evangelist “Gipsy” Smith

Proverbs 25:11, “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.” Proverbs 27:21, “As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.”

Five minutes of praise will do more for a person than a lifetime of criticism. I ran across the following picture on Facebook today and it captivated me. I had to ponder the picture for a minute to fully understand its meaning. ...

Criticism Verses Praise

The picture shows the contrast between being critical versus praising our children. The Bible teaches in Proverbs 27:21, “As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise.” Human beings love to be praised. This should not come as a surprise, because we are all created in God's very own image, and God loves to be praised. There are 150 chapters in the book of Psalms. Interestingly, the word praise is found 150 times in Psalms, one mention for each chapter. God loves to be praised and He is worthy!

Isaiah 42:8, “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.” God is a jealous God. Exodus 34:14, “For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:” Wow! God's name is jealous! The Lord loves to be bragged on, just as we do! That is because we are created in God's image (Genesis 1:27).

Rodney 'Gipsy' Smith (1860-1947)

When I saw the preceding picture, which contrasts the different results you get when either criticizing or praising others, I was reminded of a wonderful story I read years ago about Evangelist Rodney “Gipsy” Smith (1860-1947). When he was a young lad, and had just got saved, Gipsy recalls the kindness of an elderly man that changed his life. As a poor Gypsy boy, Gipsy was used to being despised and shunned away by society, but an elderly Christian man befriended him with a few kind words of PRAISE which transformed his life:

BUT, although I was a mischievous boy, I was not a really bad boy. I knew in my heart what religion meant. I had seen it in the new lives of my father, sisters, and brother. I had seen the wonderful change in the gipsy home--the transformation that had taken place there. I had seen the transformation-scene if I had not felt it, and in my heart there was a deep longing for the strange experiences that I knew to be my father's. I remember well a visit that my father paid to Bedford about this time. 

I shall never forget my thoughts and feelings while I listened to the people as they spoke of John Bunyan. They took us to see the church where he used to preach, and showed us his monument. During our stay in the town, I spent some portion of every day near the monument. I had heard the people say he had been a tinker and a great sinner, but had been converted, and that through his goodness he became great. And, oh! how I looked up as he stood on that pedestal, and longed to be good like him. And I wondered if I should always live in the "wagon" and spend a life of uselessness. I walked to the village where John Bunyan was born, and went into the house he had lived in. I stood and wept and longed to find the same Jesus Christ that had made Bunyan what he was. I never lost sight in my mind's eye of the bright visions that visited me while I was in Bedford. 

I had got it into my mind that religion was a thing, which first took hold of the head of the house, and then stepped down in the order of ages. My heart was heavy because I felt that I was standing in the way of my sister Tilly, who was younger than I. I remember one evening sitting on the trunk of an old tree not far from my father's tent and wagon. Around the fallen trunk grass had grown about as tall as myself. I had gone there to think, because I was under the deepest conviction and had an earnest longing to love the Saviour and to be a good lad. I thought of my mother in heaven, and I thought of the beautiful life my father, brother, and sisters were living, and I said to myself, "Rodney, are you going to wander about as a gipsy boy and a gipsy man without hope, or will you be a Christian and have some definite object to live for?" Everything was still, and I could almost hear the beating of my heart. 

For answer to my question, I found myself startling myself by my own voice: "By the grace of God, I will be a Christian and I will meet my mother in heaven!" My decision was made. I believe I was as much accepted by the Lord Jesus that day as I am now, for with all my heart I had decided to live for Him. My choice was made forever, and had I at once confessed Christ, I believe that the witness of the Spirit would have been mine, the witness which gives one the assurance of acceptance. I knew I had said "I will" to God. I made the mistake of not declaring my decision publicly, and I believe that thousands do likewise. The devil tells them to keep it quiet. This is a cunning device by which he shuts hundreds out of the light and joy of God's salvation.

Still I was not satisfied. A few days afterwards I wandered one evening into a little Primitive Methodist Chapel in Fitzroy Street, Cambridge, where I heard a sermon by the Rev. George Warner. Oddly enough, I cannot remember a word of what Mr. Warner said, but I made up my mind in that service that if there was a chance I would publicly give myself to Christ. After the sermon a prayer meeting was held, and Mr. Warner invited all those who desired to give themselves to the Lord to come forward and kneel at the communion-rail. I was the first to go forward. I do not know whether anybody else was there or not. I think not. While I prayed the congregation sang: "I can but perish if I go, I am resolved to try, For if I stay away I know I must for ever die."

And "I do believe, I will believe, That Jesus died for me, That on the cross He shed His blood From sin to set me free."

Soon there was a dear old man beside me, an old man with great flowing locks, who put his arm round me and began to pray with me and for me. I did not know his name. I do not know it even now. I told him that I had given myself to Jesus for time and eternity—to be His boy forever. He said:

"You must believe that He has saved you. 'To as many as received Him, to them gave He power to be the sons of God; even to them that believed on His name."'

"Well" I said to my dear old friend, "I cannot trust myself, for I am nothing; and I cannot trust in what I have, for I have nothing; and I cannot trust in what I know, for I know nothing; and so far as I can see my friends are as badly off as I am."

So there and then I placed myself by simple trust and committal to Jesus Christ. I knew He died for me; I knew He was able to save me, and I just believed Him to be as good as His word. And thus the light broke and assurance came. I knew that if I was not what I ought to be, I never should be again what I had been. I went home and told my father that his prayers were answered, and he wept tears of joy with me. Turning to me, he said, "'Tell me how you know you are converted?" That was a poser for a young convert. I hardly knew what to say, but placing my hand on my heart, I said, "Daddy, I feel so warm here." I had got a little of the feeling that the disciples had when they had been talking with Jesus on the way to Emmaus: "Did not our heart burn within us?" The date of my conversion was the 17th of November, 1876.

How my father rejoiced at my turning to the Lord. He said to me: "I knew you were such a whole-souled boy that, before the devil spoiled you, I coveted you for Jesus Christ. I knew that you would be out-and-out one way or the other. I seemed to see that there were in you great possibilities for Jesus Christ."

Next morning I had, of course, as usual to go out and sell my goods. My first desire was to see again the little place where I had kneeled the night before ere I commenced my work for the day. There I stood for some minutes gazing at the little chapel, almost worshipping the place. As I stood, I heard a shuffling of feet, and turning round I saw the dear old man who had knelt by my side. I said to myself, "Now that I have my goods—clothes-pegs and tinware—with me, he will see that I am a gipsy, and will not take any notice of me. He will not speak to the gipsy boy. Nobody cares for me but my father." But I was quite wrong. Seeing me, he remembered me at once, and came over to speak to me, though he walked with great difficulty and with the aid of two sticks. Taking my hands in his, he seemed to look right down into my innermost soul. Then he said to me: "The Lord bless you, my boy. The Lord keep you, my boy." I wanted to thank him, but the words would not come. There was a lump m my throat, and my thoughts were deep beyond the power of utterance. My tears contained in their silver cells the words my tongue could not utter.

The dear old man passed on, and I watched him turning the corner out of sight forever. I never saw him again. But when I reach the gloryland, I will find out that dear old man, and while angels shout and applaud, and the multitudes who have been brought to Christ through the gipsy boy sing for joy, I will thank that grand old saint for his shake of the hand and for his "God bless you!" For he made me feel that somebody outside the tent really cared for a gipsy boy's soul. His kindness did me more good than a thousand sermons would have done just then. It was an inspiration that has never left me, and has done more for me than I can describe. Many a young convert has been lost to the Church of God, who would have been preserved and kept for it, and made useful in it, all for the want of some such kindness as that which fell to my lot that day. Please don't miss those last statements dear friend. Gipsy said that many young converts have fallen away from usefulness for God, who would have gladly served Christ, has someone simply extended some kindness toward them. I can testify firsthand about the woeful lack of compassion and kindness in many churches today.

Honestly, if it weren't for my maturity in the Lord (having been saved now for 41 years since 1980), I would have quit church altogether because of the horrible abuse, unkindness and hatred toward me from the Harvest Baptist Church on Guam between 2014 and 2021. Incompetent pastors' Marty Herron, Joe Hansen, Jared Baldwin and Gary Walton are ungodly. Those evil men caused me much mental anguish, grief and suffering for seven years, simply because I befriended them with THE TRUTH.

I saw that the Devil had deceived them. They were preaching “Lordship” salvation, misunderstood repentance, promoting Martin Luther as a born-again believer, and promoting Satan's corruptible seed. Despite my love toward them and kindness to help them see, they were arrogant and stiff-necked, full of sinful pride. Instead of dealing kindly with me for loving them enough to help them see THE TRUTH, they forced me out of Harvest Baptist Church on Guam and ostracized me, turning the whole church congregation against me.

Guam is a small island and when a large local church shuns, ostracizes and bans you from their church, it adversely affects you. Everywhere I went on Guam I was shunned, hated and mistreated. People made faces at me. Others refused to even look at me or wave back when I befriended them with God's love. If it weren't for God's love in me, I would have quit church and never returned because of those wicked ungodly pastors and staff at Harvest Baptist Church. Pastor Herron even disparaged me, calling me the church's “enemy.” We will see in eternity who is the “enemy.” I told THE TRUTH, for which they ruined my life, robbed me of my church family, took away the only friends I had, and left me destitute for seven years without a church to attend. I pray and beg God to avenge me, and deal with them treacherously as they did to me for seven long and painful years on Guam (Romans 3:4; Galatians 6:7).

In view of the preceding true account of what Harvest Baptist Church on Guam did to me and to hurt my family, forcing us all out of their cult, I can greatly appreciate what Gipsy Smith is saying. Even the smallest of kind words could have made all the difference in the world, had Harvest's pastors simply cared enough to reciprocate God's love toward me, as I kindly did toward them. When you love someone, you tell them THE TRUTH. Proverbs 12:17, “He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.” The Bible associates righteousness with telling THE TRUTH. 

I know the inexplicable excruciating pain of soul that comes from being hated, banned, shunned and ostracized from one's own church family, simply because I TOLD THE TRUTH. God knows that in love I have regularly prayed for the leaders and people of the Harvest Baptist Church on Guam (HBCG), for God to open their blind eyes. Sadly, Satan has a stronghold on the Bob Jones University (BJU) camp, which includes the Harvest Baptist Church on Guam that employees their corrupt graduates. HBCG broadcasts BJU's chapel services, full of deadly Calvinist doctrines.

I love my name “David,” named after the humble shepherd boy David in the Old testament. Psalms 119:140, “Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.” Psalms 119:104, “Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.” h

For years, Rodney Smith did not know when he had been born. He was the son of a Gypsy, had no records and would not have known how to read them if he had. "A good aunt of mine took the trouble to get someone to examine the register of Wanstead Church (England), and there found an entry giving the date of the birth and christening of Rodney Smith. I discovered that I was a year younger than I took myself to be. He was born on this day, March 31, 1860.

While he was still young, his mother died, an event that made a deep impression on him. Living all together in a wagon, he had seen his mother come to know Christ just days before her death. All the knowledge she had to go on was a Christian song she had heard many years before as a child and a few words her husband had overheard, but not understood, while locked in jail. The power of the Holy Spirit made that little knowledge sufficient and she died singing.

We've all been to pathetic churches, where we were made to feel like they couldn't care less if we ever came back. That is what the shameful senior pastor of Campus Church at Pensacola Christian College (PCC) did to me in 2021. Pastor Redlin is a cold, calloused and superficial type guy, as phony as they come. The way you treat people speaks volumes about your walk with God, or woeful lack thereof. Kindly said, I wasn't impressed at all with Jeff Redlin or Tim Zacharias as the pastors of Campus Church. They are extremely shallow men who lack compassion for others. The way you treat people matters, it really does!!!

Sadly, during the summer of 2021, Pastor Jeff Redlin treated me like garbage at Campus Church. As a divorced person he made me feel unwanted, unloved and looked down upon. After kindly expressing my frustration personally to him, about his woeful lack of concern and compassion for me as a hurting human being, he brushed me off and never bothered to contact me again. It is very obvious to me that Pastor Redlin couldn't care less if I ever come back to Campus Church. People know if they are wanted or not. Humbly said, Jeff Redlin is not a man who loves people or walks closely with Jesus. When you truly walk with Christ you'll care, because Jesus cares!!!

The fact of the matter is that Redlin criticized my website ministry, falsely accusing me of finding “weakness” in other preachers. No, I am rebuking damnable heresies and the devil-dog pastors who preach a false gospel and misunderstanding of repentance. What Pastor Redlin flippantly calls “weaknesses” is sending multitudes to burn in Hell forever! Sadly, Jeff Redlin is a spineless jellyfish, a yellowbellied pastor, who merely goes through the motions of living the Christian life, parasiting off of the churches for a much undeserved 6-digit annual salary. It is sickening!!! Calvinism is NOT a weakness in other preachers, it means they are unsaved infidels on their way to the everlasting Lake of Fire to be tormented day and night.

Why Roman Catholicism Is A False Religion

Mark 7:6-9, “He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.”

Jesus Himself quoted the Old Testament prophet Isaiah in Mark 7:6-9, showing that some people worship God only superficially with their mouth, but their heart is far from God:

Isaiah 29:13-16, “Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us?  and who knoweth us? Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not?  or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?”

All men should fear God. Literally, we should have a holy reverence and be afraid to displease God. The phrase “and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men” means that false prophets misled the people. They were taught manmade commandments and superstition instead of THE TRUTH. The phrase “Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay” means that those who follow manmade traditions instead of God's Word will make the unacceptable excuse to God on Judgment Day that they were just human (i.e., just clay in the Potter's hands). They will blame their humanity and blame God. Isaiah 29:16b says they will accuse God of lacking understanding. Isaiah 64:8, “But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.”

Isaiah 29:15a, “Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark...” This Scripture passage refers to people who think they know more than God, flaunting their wisdom over God's Word. This reminds me of the U.S. Supreme Court, who have repeatedly flaunted their authority and rulings over the inspired Holy Bible (e.g., legalized abortion since 1973, ruling that fathers have no rights over their biological offspring in the mother's womb since 1988, and legalized homosexual marriages since 2015). For these evils and umpteen more, our nation's top leaders have brought God's judgment upon the United States.

CONCLUSION

What will be the next invention? The Roman Church says it never changes; yet, it has done nothing else but invent new doctrines which are contrary to the Bible, and has practiced rites and ceremonies taken bodily from paganism. Some scholar has found that 75% of the rites and ceremonies of the Roman Church are of pagan origin.

Note: Cardinal Newman, in his book, “The Development of the Christian Religion,” admits that ... “Temples, incense, oil lamps, votive offerings, holy water, holidays and season of devotions, processions, blessing of fields, sacerdotal vestments, the tonsure (of priests and monks and nuns), images ... are all of pagan origin...” (Page 359).

HERESIES are those doctrines and practices which are contrary to the Bible. They are also called "human traditions" or "doctrines of men". Both Peter and Paul predicted and warned that in the later times "false teachers" would rise within the Church and bring in "damnable heresies" and "doctrines of devils". (Read 2nd Peter 2:1-3, and 1st Timothy 3:2-5). Jesus rebuked the Pharisees, for they transgressed the commandments of God by keeping their traditions. “in vain,” He said, "they worship me by keeping for doctrines the commandments of men" (Matthew 15:3,9).

The real heretics therefore, are the Roman Catholics and the true orthodox are the Evangelical Christians.

BRETHREN! The Word of God commands us to get out of Babylon, saying: "Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." (Revelation 18:4). All true Christians will remain faithful to the religion of Christ as taught in the Bible, and heed the warning of the Apostle Paul, who said: "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other Gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:8).

As Roman Catholic apologists like to point out, the RCC is not guided only by the Sacred Scriptures, but also by Holy Tradition. Like so many other aspects of the Catholic cult, this unwillingness to accept God's Word as sufficient shares many characteristics with those other religions and cults which the Roman church absorbed in order to gain control over their devotees.

Now, what has the RCC done with God's Law? Well, among other things they diluted it, as did the Jews, by declaring tradition to be co-equal with Scripture in determining doctrine. One big difference between the way Jews handle their multiplicity of sources and Rome's way is that any Jewish scholar, or even serious lay student, can find the books of tradition and search them. This is because the sources have been identified, compiled and published.

I have never discovered, nor even heard of an authoritative compilation of what Catholicism calls "Sacred Tradition." I suppose the nearest comparison to the Talmud would be found in the Code of Canon Law and, perhaps, the Catechism of the Catholic Church would approximate the Midrash.

The Catholic Church is full of unbiblical teachings, for example:

1. Calling priests “Father” is a sin (Matthew 23:9)
2. Forbidding priests to get married is a sin (1st Timothy 4:3)
3. Forbidding Catholics to eat any meat except fish on Fridays is a sin (1st Timothy 4:3)
4. The Seven Sacraments of Catholicism is false doctrine (it's not in the Bible)
5. The idea that priests can forgive sin is false doctrine (it's not in the Bible)
6. The idea that Peter was the first Pope is false doctrine (it's not in the Bible)
7. Praying the Rosary to Mary is false doctrine (it's not in the Bible)
8. The perpetual virginity of Mary is a sin (it's not in the Bible)
9. The Assumption of Mary (she didn't die) is false teaching (it's not in the Bible)
10. The sinlessness of Mary is false doctrine (it's not in the Bible)
11. Praying to Mary is wickedness (it's not in the Bible)
12. Infant Baptism is a false practice (it's not in the Bible)
13. Doing good works to get to Heaven is damnable heresy (it's not in the Bible)
14. The idea that the Pope speaks ex cathedra (for God) is a sin (it's not in the Bible)
15. Nuns never getting married is wrong (it's not in the Bible)

I have given you just fifteen false teachings and practices of Catholicism, a prisonhouse of religion! There are hundreds more false doctrines in the Roman Catholic and Russian Orthodox Catholic religious cult!

The churches in America are in sad shape. There are now approximately 900 English Bible revisions according to the American Bible Society. That is Satan! God is not the author of confusion (1st Corinthians 14:33), the Devil is (Genesis 3:1; John 10:10). The biggest damnable heresy in the churches today is the lie that repentance means to turn away from your sin to be saved. No such teaching is found in the inspired King James Bible.

Americans are full of drugs, in massive financial debt, obese, depressed, perverse, dumbed down, deceived about God and salvation, and all the while the news media keeps telling us how lucky we are to live in the United States! God destroyed the wicked city of Sodom for ignoring the poor and needy. Ezekiel 16:49, “Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.” Are we strengthening the hand of the poor and needy among us?

I am dismayed with disgust as I consider the condition of the United States today. I heard in the news yesterday that the U.S. Pentagon says China is projected to have 1,000 NUKES by the year 2030. Read Revelation chapter 18, which prophecies that this nation (modern Babylon) will be destroyed in just one hour by fire!!! I firmly believe this nation is the USA, by whom the merchants of the world have been made rich (Revelation 18:15). I believe that China is going to nuke the United States. I don't claim to have any special insight or premonitions about the future. I am just a normal person. But God gave me a brain to think. God gave me the blessed gift of His indwelling Holy Spirit since 1980 when I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. So I have the mind of Christ, and so do you if you are a born-again child of God (1st Corinthians 2:16).

If A Pastor Won't Call Out The Wolves, He Too Is One!

Matthew 7:13-15, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” Matthew 24:4-5, “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” 1st John 4:1, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”

These text Scripture passages are but a few of hundreds in the Word of God that warn us about false teachers. In Matthew 7:13-15 Jesus Himself warned that false prophets would come to us in SHEEP'S CLOTHING to deceive us. The Devil knows that people are smart enough to reject him in his true form. Satan is evil to the core by nature (John 8:44). So to trick his victims, the Devil masquerades as an Angel of Light, and so also are Satan's ministers transformed to appear as ministers of righteousness (2nd Corinthians 11:13-15). Satan and his minions are actors, pretending to be something that they are not.

There are a couple different interpretations of Jesus' prophecy in Matthew 24:4-5, “And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” Two suggested meanings are:

1. False prophets will come claiming to be Jesus Himself.
2. False teachers will come, who acknowledge that Jesus is the Christ, but they will preach a counterfeit gospel to deceive people.

Although both of these heresies are popular in the world today, only one can be biblically accurate. It is my humble opinion that Jesus is warning us about false messiahs who would come claiming to be Christ.

But one of my mentors of the Christian faith, Pastor Hank Lindstrom (1940-2008), believed that Jesus was referring to the former, that false prophets would come to us professing Christ while preaching another gospel. They are not saved. Dr. Lindstrom is correct that some people who profess Christ are not really saved, because they are really trusting in partial faith in Christ plus works. Such false religions are the Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh-Day Adventists and Roman Catholics, who all falsely claim to be Christians.

These cursed false religions profess that Jesus is the Christ, yet they corrupt the Gospel of free grace by adding works to it. Any faith that requires even the least amount of human effort is not true faith, because it adds works to grace, Romans 11:6, “And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.” Salvation is by faith alone, and “by faith” I mean simply resting in the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is the Good News that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, was buried and bodily resurrected three days later (1st Corinthians 15:1-4).

Dr. Lindstrom is correct in his teaching that some false prophets will come professing Christ while mixing it with a false gospel. However, I disagree with him humbly that this is what Jesus was referring to in Matthew 24:4-5. Listen to yourself to Pastor Lindstrom's sermon titled, "Deception." It is an excellent sermon. Everything that Dr. Lindstrom is preaching is sound doctrine, I just don't think that his application is correct to Matthew 24:4-5.

Of course, I could be wrong and Dr. Lindstrom could be right. I am simply sharing my opinion. The reason why I believe the way I do is because of the disciple's question to Jesus in Matthew 24:3b, “and what shall be the sign of thy coming...” The disciples wanted to know what signs would precede Jesus' Second Coming. So it is logical that the answer to their question would regard Christ Himself. Jesus said that MANY would come in His name to deceive many, saying: “I am Christ”...

Matthew 24:5, “For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”

Mark 13:6, “For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”

Luke 21:8, “And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.”

There are MANY false teachers in the world today! 1st John 4:1, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” The Bible commands us to “try” (test) every spirit (i.e., every book, sermon, philosophy, song, movie, website, et cetera) to determine if it is of God. Any spirit that is not the Holy Spirit is a familiar spirit (a demon). We can test every spirit by simply comparing everything against the inspired King James Bible.

A major problem in churches today is pastors who won't stand. Ladies and gentlemen, a pastor who won't call out the wolves is part of the problem! If you know someone who has commit the horrible crime and sin of murder, but you remain silent and say nothing to help police apprehend the culprit, in a very real way you are guilty too. You are bidding Godspeed to evil. You are privy to the crime. All across the United States there are cowardly pastors who refuse to expose false prophets, making them privy to the crime.

I'm talking about Pensacola Christian College (PCC) who are eerily silent about fake Bibles, damnable heresy and dangerous false teachers who corrupt the Word of God and cast stumbling blocks before the people. PCC has a spirit of “us four and no more,” isolated from the rest of the professed Christian world. While Bob Jones University damns thousands of students to Hell with a Calvinist false gospel, PCC refuses to break ties from BJU and expose them as a dangerous religious cult. So what does that say about PCC and their college started Campus Church? It says they are only in business to make money, not “earnestly contend for the faith once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 1:3b).

Pastor Jeff Redlin at Campus Church at PCC is a wolf! He is complicit to the corruption at BJU today, having nothing negative to say about damnable false prophets. Instead, Jeff Redlin hobnobs with Harvest Baptist Church on Guam and the unsaved Bob Jones camp. NO ONE is saved who believes that you cannot simply accept Christ to be saved, which is exactly what infidel Dr. Steve Pettit (president of BJU since 2014) preaches! Something is VERY wrong when Bible colleges, evangelists and pastors refuse to REBUKE THEM SHARPLY who subvert whole households (Titus 1:10-13). Why am I virtually the only Christian who is exposing Steve Pettit's counterfeit plan of salvation? Where are the 7,000?

There are so many helpful and practical lessons which can be learned from the Old Testament book of Genesis. I absolutely love the book of Genesis. I encourage your dear friend to listen to the entire book of Genesis as read by Alexander Scourby (1913-1985). You can hear the entire book of Genesis in just 3:29 hours. Wow, that is so awesome!!!

The true story of the serpent (Satan according to Revelation 20:2) beguiling Eve in the paradisiacal Garden of Eden is an astounding account. The Bible teaches that Eve was deceived, not Adam:

1st Timothy 2:11-15, “Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.”

In the preceding Scriptures passage, the Bible gives two reasons why women are to submit to their own husbands, remain silent regarding church matters, not teach men in the church and not usurp (take control of) authority over men: 1) Adam was made first, then Eve; 2) Eve was deceived, not Adam. The entire purpose for which women were created is to be a HELP MEET for their own husband (Genesis 2:18). So many women fail to understand this biblical truth. The whole idea of career women is against the Scripture. The Holy Bible says that women who forfeit marriage and motherhood are TURNED ASIDE AFTER SATAN (1st Timothy 5:14-15). God's intended purpose for every young woman is to get married, bear children, guide the home and stay out of trouble! This is not just the old-fashioned way, it is the right way and God's way.

Secular World Admits That The Most Miserable People Are Career Women With No Husband Or Kids!!!

I see at least TWO DOZEN truths taught in Genesis 3:1-6. The preceding is a big one! God created Eve to be Adam's help meet. Literally, Eve was made from one of Adam's ribs, taken from the man, to be his servant and best buddy for life, faithfully standing by her man! If you have a problem with the concept ladies of being a SERVANT to a man, you are not right with God. Not even close! A godly woman desires to be a servant to her own husband. When a woman files for divorce, she is declaring herself liberated, committing an act of rebellion against her own husband and usurping control. This is not a servant's heart! I believe divorce is always a horrible sin. Proverbs 13:10, “Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.”

Another truth that we glean from Genesis 3:1-6 is that the Devil (the old serpent) is very subtle. The Devil is much craftier and smarter than either you or me friend. As humans we only have a certain amount of time here on earth. The average human lifespan is 70 years of age. Satan also knows that his time on earth is limited, but his reign of terror has spanned millenniums, whereas generations of humans come and go. This gives the Devil an advantage over mankind. It is commonly said that those who fail to study history are doomed to repeat the past. 'Tis very true! The Devil has been around for a very long time, before time even existed in fact. God created time for humanity, so that He could share His plans with us and give us an expected end, something to look forward to in the future. Without time there could be no past, present or future! Think about that.

Another important truth that we see in Genesis 3:1-6 is that Eve was beguiled (deceived) by the Devil. But please notice how clever the serpent was. The serpent didn't come right our and ask Eve to sin. No, that would have been too obvious. Since Adam and Eve had been commanded by God to obey His Word, the serpent began by changing what God had actually said. If you compare what God actually said in Genesis 2:16-17 and then look at what the serpent changed it to in Genesis 3:1, you will notice that the serpent turned God's commandment into a question:

Genesis 2:16-17, “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”

Genesis 3:1, “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.  And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

Never put a question mark where God has placed a period. God told Adam and Eve that they COULD freely eat of all the trees in the garden, except one (the Tree of Knowledge). But the serpent lied by saying that God told them NOT to eat of all the trees! The serpent was magnifying Eve's restrictions, instead of her privilege's. How true that is! Teenagers so often focus on the seemingly restrictive rules set by parents, pastors and teachers that are intended to protect them. But the truth is that without those seemingly dreadful rules, many teenagers would destroy their lives or end up in a world of hurt and misery!

Rules are our friend, not our enemy. The laws designed by legislatures and enforced by the courts are in most cases for our own protection and well being. Romans 13:3-4, “For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.” A minister is a servant. Judges (or magistrates) are the ministers (servants) of God, executing law and order in society. Law abiding citizens have nothing to fear! Proverbs 28:1, “The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.”

Another important lesson to be gleaned from Genesis 3:1-6 is Eve's attitude that got her into trouble. When the serpent tempted her to eat the forbidden fruit, she started to look for excuses to justify what she had already decided to do. Eve made three excuses:

1. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, 
2. and that it was pleasant to the eyes, 
3. and a tree to be desired to make one wise, 

...she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.”
