Thy Father Which Seeth In Secret

Matthew 6:4, “That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.”

I was listening to Alexander Scourby (1913-1985) read the inspired King James Bible. Today I listened to the Gospel of Matthew. When I heard our text passage from Matthew 6:4, the phrase “thy Father which seeth in secret” caught my attention. It encouraged my heart to be reminded in the Holy Bible that God is always watching me. God sees my labors done in secret, which nobody but Him sees. God sees my hurting soul, hurting body and loneliness.

It is in our sinful human nature to think negative, to become downhearted and discouraged. We have to work at developing a good habit of always trying to look on the positive side of life. I love the next Bible verse. Proverbs 15:3, “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” We are often reminded by preachers that God sees all of our sins and nothing is hidden from God; but the Bible also says that God sees THE GOOD.

God sees the little things that we do to be helpful to other people. God sees the small seemingly insignificant acts of kindness we do. God sees my ministry hard work (night and day) done for Jesus Christ, which I love doing. God sees when we abstain from sinning. He sees the efforts that we make to try not to sin, because we love Jesus (John 14:15). God sees and hears our prayers, no matter how small or seemingly trivial we may think they are (1st Peter 5:7-9). Job said that God counted his every step, and he understood that there's no way the Lord overlooked his sins. Job 14:16, “For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin? But thankfully, God also sees the good that we do. Amen.

If you are a born-again believer, then God is your heavenly Father. If you are not saved, then the Devil is your father (John 8:44; Ephesians 2:1-2). Hebrews 4:13, “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” Hebrews 10:31, It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. I don't know about you friend, but I don't want to be on the wrong side of right. I want to be on the winning side with Jesus Christ! Romans 8:37, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

God knows how many hairs exist upon your head. Nothing ever occurs to God. The Lord doesn't ever remember something. He is omniscient (all-knowing). God doesn't need a secretary to organize His business. We read in Revelation 20:12-15 concerning the Great White Throne Judgment, that “the books (plural) shall be opened...
Revelation 20:12-15, “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
There will be two books: the book with all of your works contained therein (both good and evil), and then the Book of Life. If your name is not found in the Lamb's Book of Life (i.e., those who are saved - Luke 10:20), then your degree of punishment in the eternal Lake of Fire will be determined by the works written in the other book.

There is debate among theologians who will stand in judgment at this time. Most Baptists think that the Great White Throne of Judgment will only be for the unsaved. However, there will be many people saved during the Millennium (in which time Christ will reign for 1,000 years), so there will be needed a judgment for these saints. Some theologians think these saints will also be judged at this time. I truly humbly do not know, but from reading Revelation 20:11-15 I don't see any mention of the saved appearing at this judgment. The Bible only mentions the lost. The important thing is to ensure that YOUR NAME is written in the Lamb's Book of Life, which is there is you have been born-again by faith alone in the GOOD NEWS of Christ crucified, buried and risen (1st Corinthians 15:1-4; 1st Thessalonians 4:14).

So, be encouraged dear saint of God, because nothing in your life goes unnoticed by the Lord. He sees your grieving heart. God sees your pain of soul and broken heart. He knows your motives and whether you are sincere or not. Nothing is hidden from the sight of God almighty. There is not a single evil conspiracy which won't be exposed in eternity and judged by God (Ecclesiastes 5:8). Nobody will get away with anything wrong which they have done.

There are millions of criminals who have done unthinkable evil things to hurt people, who have never been caught. There are murderers, rapists, thieves and kidnappers who have never been caught. It took California's finest 40 years to catch the Golden State Killer, who murdered 13 and raped at least 52 known victims. Thankfully he got caught before he died and is serving multiple life sentence's. But he was 75 years old when he was convicted. So there is no way that justice can be served in this world. Only God can truly punish that evildoer!

A young 17 year old man in Michigan, only 13 years old when he murdered 4 fellow classmates, was just sentenced by a court to life in prison without any hope of parole. That isn't fair in lieu of the fact that the Golden State Killer murdered 13 people and didn't get caught for 40 years. He enjoyed life and raised a family, living a good life all those 40 years of freedom, while this 17 year old boy's life is over. That is not fair, but is the nature of human justice. So, God needs to balance the scales of justice. I admit that I don't know how God can do that, but our great God is a good God and He knows exactly what to do. I love God and am so thankful that He is a good God. Can you imagine if the great God of the universe were evil?

As I mentioned, there are millions of guilty criminals who will never get caught. According to the latest FBI data, there is a 40% chance that you'd get away with murder. There's a 50% chance you'd get away with assault. There's even a higher percent chance that you'd get away with other crimes. Yet, we know from the inspired Word of God that NO ONE will escape the judgment of almighty God. Ecclesiastes 12:14, “For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” Evildoers may manage to escape getting caught in this temporary world, but no one can escape God.

The culprits behind the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001 got away with their crimes here on earth. U.S. President George W. Bush and his wicked administration got away with their crimes, but they cannot escape God's judgment. Ecclesiastes 5:8, “If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.” PAYDAY SOMEDAY!!!
