What Evidence Can You Give Me That God Exists?

Romans 1:20-21, "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened."

Consider this dear reader, the Holy Bible was not written by one man, or even a group of men, in one generation; it was written over 1,500 years! If the Bible had been written by one man, like Muhammad wrote the Islamic Koran, then I would be very suspicious. But the Bible is comprised of 66 books which were written over a span of 1,500 years, by approximately 40 different writers. We don't know who wrote the book of Hebrews, which is why is say "approximately." I think the Apostle Paul wrote Hebrews, but we do not know for certain. Those 40 or so men whom God used to pen the Bible, spoke different languages, came from different social backgrounds. Some were farmers like Amos, others were scholars like Paul. Some were nobleman like Nehemiah, others were just humble men like Job. I believe that God deliberately gave humanity the Bible in this miraculous manner, to prove its divine origin. If you think about it, men could not have achieved this.

A common accusation is that rich men wrote the Bible to control the massed. I used to work with an atheist who believed in cavemen and evolution (I of course don't). His name was Mike. Mike told me that religion started with the cavemen. He thinks that some of the Neanderthal men were greater than the lesser, having the women and the money, et cetera. So the lesser of the species decided to start a religion, claiming belief in a higher power, which gave them something that the greater ape-men didn't have, which gave the lesser of the group a feeling of superiority over the greater. Although his theory is intriguing, I am much more compelled to believe that God truly does exist, and man's need for religion is proof of God's existence.

So the first evidence that God exists and that the Bible is His inspired Word, is the miraculous manner in which the Bible was discovered by mankind (by the way, I only accept the King James Bible as uncorrupted in modern English, all others have been tampered with but that is a different topic).

Also, reading the Bible can be challenging to someone new to it, because the Bible is NOT assembled in chronological order, except for the first 5 books (written by Moses) and Revelation. For example: The book of Job likely occurred around the time of Genesis, before the law was given in Exodus. When men write books, they flow logically from start to finish, but the Bible is an amazing assortment of 66 different books. Another example is the Old Testament book of Daniel, which is absolutely essential to understanding the New Testament book of Revelation. To me, this is another proof of divine origin.

It has been wisely said that if men could write the Bible, they wouldn't; and if they would, they couldn't. The following Scripture speaks of Moses. Hebrews 11:27, "By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible." Another favorite passage of mind is Romans 1:20-21, "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened."

According to these Scriptures (see also Psalms 19:1-3), nature is another proof of God's existence. This is further evidence of a divine Creator. I am always amazed that people will acknowledge the possibility that alien life exists outside of our solar system, but will deny the existence of God. By very definition, God is extra-terrestrial (beyond the earth). God is an alien! I don't think he is green and skinny like Close Encounters, but in truth, we don't know what God looks like. Since man is created in God's image, I seems to make sense to me that God must somewhat look human, but I do not know for certain.

There are some unanswerable questions in life. How big is the universe. According to science, the universe is still expanding. The Bible agrees with that. Job 9:7-8, "But the LORD shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment. Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea." Can the universe have an end to it? If so, what is beyond that barrier? The answer defines all human understanding and science. Also, when did time begin? Can time have a beginning. If so, what existed before time? Again, an answer would defy all human logic and science. The only plausible answer is God, a divine Creator.

Another evidence of God and the veracity of the Bible is the preeminence of Jesus Christ throughout history. Consider that our very time system is based upon B.C. (before Christ) and A.D. (from Latin, meaning, "in the year of our Lord"). Hollywood movies prevalently take Jesus' name in vain, cursing and blaspheming His holy name. Why would the world be so enamored with a historical being who wasn't God in the flesh? And it's not just Hollywood. What do human say at extreme moments of physical pleasure, "Oh God!" What do humans say when the most scared, "Oh God!" What do humans say when the most angry, "God %$&@$!" OR "Jesus %#*%* Christ!" This also testifies to the inherent knowledge in every human being that God is real, and Jesus came to earth as God incarnate in the flesh (Romans 1:20-21; John 1:1-3, 14; 1st Timothy 3:16).

Also, I have had numerous web visitors tell me over the years, that it was the existence of 666, Satan worship, the occult and the forming New World Order that convinced them of God's existence. Their reasoning is that if Satan is real, then God must also be real. I mean, we have to admit that a lot of people believe in Satan...
All those dark things creep people out, and rightly so! Whether or not the Devil (a literal spiritual being, a fallen archangel, Lucifer) exists, the world sure believes in him!

So these are some proofs of God, Jesus and the Bible:
  1. Man's inherent need for God
  2. The manner in which the Holy Bible was randomly discovered by mankind over 1,500 years
  3. Nature itself and the universe
  4. The unanswered questions of how big is the universe and when did time begin
  5. The preeminence of Jesus Christ throughout history
  6. the blatant existence of Satan worship, New World Order and the occult
That is the best I can do to make my appeal to you dear reader,  that the God of the Holy Bible is real, and Jesus is His only begotten (biological) Son; the Christ in whom all humans who BELIEVE ON HIM are born-again, through whom we obtain forgiveness of sins and eternal life by faith without works (Romans 4:4-7; Galatians 3:26; 1st Corinthians 15:1-4; John 20:31). I have only provided some Scripture references in case you'd like to confirm these claims with the Bible.

Ultimately we all have to make our own conclusions based upon the available evidence. Ten people can view the same exact evidence, but a couple will believe (Christians), a couple will refuse to believe (unbelievers), and others will remain unconvinced either way (agnostic). The choice that we make could affect where we spend eternity. The Bible is very clear that unless a man is born again, he cannot enter into God's Kingdom. John 3:3, "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

I encourage you also to read Michael P. Bowen's book, "I NEVER KNEW YOU: THE HORROR OF THE COMING GREAT WHITE THRONE AND HOW YOU CAN AVOID IT."
In the book, Michael shares his personal struggle with faith, explaining that he was an atheist in his youth (at your age), and how he came to believe on Jesus Christ. I encourage you to read his story. The book was written in a kind and understanding spirit, not judgment or harsh.

I humbly think if you'll ponder all these truths, that you will also come to the light of the truth of the Gospel (the Good News of Christ crucified, buried and risen the third day), by which those who BELIEVE are saved (1st Corinthians 1:21, Romans 1:16; Acts 16:30-31; 1st Thessalonians 4:14; John 6:28-29, 40, 47).
