Galatians 1:8-9, “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
Pastor Joe Sweet is an unsaved heretic! In this portion of his sermon, he plainly describes his false gospel as living the Christian life:
“So saving faith looks like this: Patient continuance in doing good, seeking for glory, honor and immortality; Now here is what false faith looks like (this is not real faith)... A false faith looks like this: They are self seeking. They do not obey the truth. They obey unrighteousness. What will come upon them is indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish.” ~Pastor Joe Sweet
HERESY!!! Biblical salvation does not look like “doing good.” The self-righteous man can't fathom a God who offers complete salvation. Its a form of self-worship that says I must be part of the process. As if anything good resides in them to offer up to a holy and righteous God.
Pastor Sweet is a fool. He wrests the Scriptures to his own destruction, mixing sanctification with justification, and in so doing he corrupts the Word of God and casts stumbling blocks before the people. He takes umpteen passages of Scripture out of context. As I mentioned before, God authored the Gospel of John to show humanity ho wot go to Heaven. But Joe Sweet is citing passages from Matthew, Hebrews and all over the place, misinterpreting the Bible.
Joe Sweet is not saved. He falsely claims to have seen a vision of Christ's Second Coming, which he claims led to his new birth in 1978. Yet, the Word of God says God ONLY speaks to us in these last days through His Son (Hebrews 1:1-2). God speaks to us through His only begotten Son, the Word of God (John 1:1-3, 14; Revelation 19:13). RUN from any preacher who claims to have seen "a vision."
Nobody is saved who thinks that God's gift of salvation can be lost by sin. God gave us the Gospel of John to show us the way of salvation, which doesn't mention any of the garbage Joe Sweet is teaching. Instead, he takes obscure passages of Scripture out of context.
Joe even corrupts the book of John. For example: Where Jesus said in John 10:27, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." Joe focuses on "they follow me." He ASS-U-MEs that "follow me" is discipleship, but the Bible does not say that. Romans 8:14, "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." This is what John 10:27-28 means.
Every born-again believer is led by the Holy Spirit. We hear His indwelling voice. That doesn't mean we always obey Him. Nor does it mean that we follow Jesus as His disciple in service. Every child of God knows God's Holy Spirit voice, which is the Spirit of Christ in us (Romans 8:9). So this is one example of how Pastor Joe Sweet corrupts the inspired Word of God, wresting the truth into a lie.
Pastor Joe Sweet foolishly says that nowhere does the Scripture teach: “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS). He is so WRONG!!! Dear reader, if you think that God's free gift of salvation can be lost, forfeited or given back, then YOU ARE NOT SAVED!!! A truly born-again believer has the Biblical mindset that “Jesus paid it all, and I don't owe Him anything in return.” The Bible teaches in Romans 12:1 that it is the believer's “reasonable service” to yield our body as a living sacrifice to serve God; but it is not mandatory to get to Heaven!
"There is a vast difference between coming to Jesus for salvation and coming after Jesus for service. Coming to Christ makes one a believer, while coming after Christ makes one a disciple. All believers are not disciples. To become a believer one accepts the invitation of the Gospel, to be a disciple one obeys the challenge to a life of dedicated service and separation. Salvation comes through the sacrifice of Christ; discipleship comes only by sacrifice of self and surrender to His call for devoted service. Salvation is free, but discipleship involves paying the price of a separated walk. Salvation can't be lost because it depends upon God's faithfulness, but discipleship can be lost because it depends upon our faithfulness." ~M.R. DeHaan, “Hebrews”; Zondervan Publishing House, 1959 (p. 117)
Dear friend, the Bible adamantly teaches: ONCE SAVED, ALWAYS SAVED!!! Pastor Joe Sweet is a wicked preacher! I have never made a single penny in my 20 years of internet ministry, but Joe has been paid over one million dollars in his ministry career! So he is a hypocrite in his video sermon to accuse OSAS preachers of teaching the truth for money. No, Joe is the one who is making the money (filthy lucre)! OSAS is the very foundation of God's simple plan of salvation, because it is a gift paid for by Jesus' precious blood.
