Men Are Saved By Believing The Truth Of The Gospel

Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

I am often asked by web visitors in my ministry, what is the best way to witness to certain groups of people. For example: It might be close family members, or a Roman Catholic, a Mormon or witnessing to an atheist. How do you witness to these different groups? I always give the simple answer–just preach the Gospel! Our text passage from Romans 1:16 gives us the answer. What is the power of God UNTO SALVATION? Why, it is THE GOSPEL!!! Who gets this awesome saving power? It is TO THEM THAT BELIEVE! Dear friend, there is no power in this universe as great as THE GOSPEL! Do you understand that eternal life awaits you, free for the taking, and all you need to do is accept the truth of the Gospel.

I read this beautiful quote from Dr. Bob Jones Sr. this morning, about the Gospel:
“Men are not saved by analyzing the truth of the Gospel. They are saved by accepting the truth of the Gospel. It is true, whether men believe it or not. It is as true as the multiplication table. Men use the multiplication table to do what the multiplication table is supposed to do. The Gospel will do what it is supposed to do. 'It is the power of God unto salvation unto every one that believeth.'” —Dr. Bob Jones Sr., “Comments On Here And Hereafter,” chapter: Preaching, Evangelism, page 123; Bob Jones University Press, Inc., © 1942
The “Gospel is the Good News that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, He was buried, and three days later He bodily resurrected from the dead for our justification (that is, that our faith in Him would be justified by a risen Savior). Anyone who receives the Gospel as their own is saved. Please make it your own dear friend! Claim it as your only way to Heaven! I love this helpful quote from Dr. Harry Ironside (1876-1951):
“The Gospel is not a call to repentance, or to amendment of our ways, to make restitution for past sins, or to promise to do better in the future. These things are proper in their place, but they do not constitute the Gospel; for the Gospel is not good advice to be obeyed, it is good news to be believed. Do not make the mistake then of thinking that the Gospel is a call to duty or a call to reformation, a call to better your condition, to behave yourself in a more perfect way than you have been doing in the past.” —Pastor Harry Ironside, What Is The Gospel?
We obey the Gospel by believing it! That's all that God asks of us. It is so simple, free and easy to be saved. Who would be so foolish, as to turn down such a great offer? Yet, most people in their sinful pride do turn it down, to their own damnation. Like Dr. Bob Jones Sr. said–the Gospel is still true, whether men believe it or not! I hope you believe dear friend, because I DO!
“More people will die and burn in Hell, because they're trusting too much!” —Pastor Jack Hyles, a precious quote from the MP3 sermon, “Yea, Yea, And Nay, Nay!
