Titus 1:10-14, “For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.”
“Lordship Salvation is the unsupportable and unbiblical belief that the performance of good works, the promise of good works, or the evidence of good works, must accompany faith in Christ to establish or provide evidence that such faith has resulted in eternal life.” —Pastor Ralph Yankee Arnold, "Jesus versus John MacArthur"
Pastor Yankee Arnold also made this edifying comment...
“Salvation is one thing and service is another, and never the two goes together. No man is saved because he serves, and no man has to serve because he is saved. Gotta keep them separate. And if you don't do it, the Scriptures will be confusing to you. You'll not rightly divide what God has to say.” —Pastor Ralph Yankee Arnold, "Why Lordship Salvation Is Wrong"
Sadly, Bob Jones University (BJU) is a cesspool of Calvinism and Lordship Salvation today, corrupting their thousands of impressionable students with another gospel. In December of 2022, infidel Paul Washer (Mr. Calvinist himself) was invited to speak at BJU chapel. God knows that I love everybody, including false prophets; but I hate their false teachings! There is a proper balance that every Christian ought to maintain. We should never accept the sin with the sinner, not reject the sinner with the sin. This is biblical.
Someone asked me today how we should treat the LGBTQ community. I kindly explained to them that we ought to treat them kindly with God's unconditional love, but at the same time reject their sin and refuse to tolerate it in our churches. Unrighteous people ought to be welcomed to attend any church, but woe and shame be to the pastor of those churches who fails to preach hard with the Holy Bible against the sin and perversion of homosexuality. The truth is that we are ALL sinners! Gossip, envy, racism, jealousy, lust and not liking people without a cause are just as awful and wicked as adultery, murder and homosexuality. Don't judge others because they sin differently than you do!
Please don't misunderstand, unrepentant homosexuals ought never be hired on church staff or accepted in good standing in their unrepentant state of sin. 1st Timothy 5:20, “Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.” This Scripture is talking about open sin which is visible in the church, not exposing private sins that you are aware of. The adulterous couple in 1st Corinthians 5:1-5 were shacking up and living in open sin, and everybody in the church knew it. The Apostle Paul rebuked the church at Corinth and admonished them to confront the man, telling him to cease and desist or leave. I am simply saying that Christ was willing to die for even the worst of sinners, so we ought to view them as someone for whom the dear Savior was willing to shed His blood on the cross. God unconditionally loves everyone, even though He is not fond of the wicked and is against them. Again, we should never accept the sin with the sinner, not reject the sinner with the sin.
Beware Of The Damnable 'Repent Of Your' Sins Heresy
Considering that 95% of preachers today are caught between grace and works, preaching the Devil's fraud of Lordship Salvation, it is the safe bet for those who want to attract more crowds to MAKE MONEY. Check for yourself and you will discover, that all of the following false prophets teach a form of Lordship Salvation, teaching that to be saved you must forsake your sinful lifestyle: Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Roman Catholics, Seventh-Day Adventists, Lordship Salvationists, Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron, Joyce Meyer, Beth Moore, Billy and Franklin Graham, Jimmy Swaggart, Rick Warren, Joel Osteen, Pat Robertson, Paul and Jan Crouch, Marty Herron, Steve Pettit, Sam Horn, John MacArthur, Paul Washer, Bob Jones University, et cetera.
Salvation is not a reward for the righteous, it is a gift for the guilty! Salvation is not doing your best, it is having Christ's best put to your account through receiving Him by faith. Turning away from sinful ways would be a work. Faith puts all of the merit where it belongs, on the object of our faith, Jesus and His work. If to “repent” means to forsake our sinful ways TO BE SAVED, but Jesus already paid for our sins by dying on the cross, then what are we repenting from?
The true Gospel always points you to CHRIST; a false gospel always points to YOU. Satan’s deadly boldfaced lie of LORDSHIP SALVATION has infected 95% of churches (including Baptist churches) today. Here is a perfect example of damnable heresy, preached by Billy Graham (1918-2018).
In addition to admitting you are a sinner and believing that Jesus died for you on the cross, according to Mr. Graham (who is now sadly screaming agony and gnashing his teeth in Hell), to get to Heaven you MUST:
- Turn away from your sinful life.
- Ask Christ to come into your heart and life.
- Follow Jesus as 'Lord' from this day forward.
- Pray for God to guide your life and do His will.
NONE of the above things are part of the Gospel. In fact, they pollute, pervert and corrupt the Gospel, so that it cannot produce the SPIRITUAL birth. NO ONE has ever been saved by partial faith in Christ, plus YOU giving up your sinful bad lifestyle (works), and YOU attempting to follow Christ as your 'Lord' (works), and YOU asking Christ to come into your heart and life. You may do all those things and yet never be born again! Salvation is not a reward for the righteous, it is a free gift for the guilty!
Salvation is not doing your best, it is having Christ's best put to your account through receiving Him by faith. Turning away from sinful ways would be a work. Faith puts all of the merit where it belongs, on the object of our faith, Jesus and His finished redemptive work. If to “repent” means to forsake our sinful ways TO BE SAVED, but Jesus already paid for our sins by dying on the cross, then what are we repenting from? The true Gospel always points you to CHRIST; a false gospel always points to YOU.
How do you know if you are saved? If you have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ alone as your personal Saviour, you are saved. If you have trusted in Him 100% and in Him alone for your eternal salvation, you are justified. If you believe the true Gospel, you are eternally saved. So….what exactly is the Gospel? It's outlined by the Bible in 1st Corinthians 15:1-4 about how that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for all your past, present and future sins, was buried in a tomb, and bodily rose again from the dead on the 3rd day for your justification. That's the 'Good News' (Gospel) right there.
Also, it is in our carnal (fleshly) human nature to associate getting right with God with human effort, sacrifice and works. It is natural to think that the opposite of doing bad works is to do good works. Albeit, the inspired Word of God introduces a very different plan of salvation, through faith alone in Christ alone. Jesus paid our debt of sin with His precious blood. We get saved by accepting Christ's sacrifice on the cross as payment for our sins, believing that He was buried, but then physically resurrected from the dead three days later.
All the preachers errantly teaching that a lost person must forsake their evil ways to get to Heaven don't understand the Gospel. They are adding works to grace, perverting the Gospel. Christ died for my sins so that I don't need to forsake my sins to be saved. And truthfully, no one can "turn away from" their sinning. As long as we are in the flesh, we will struggle with sin.
God commands us as His children to depart from iniquity, but this is regarding discipleship, not sonship (which is a free gift from God).
My favorite preacher quote is from Pilgrim's Progress author, John Bunyan:
“If you do not put a difference between justification wrought by the man Christ without and sanctification wrought by the Spirit of Christ within, you are not able to divide the Word aright; but contrariwise, you corrupt the Word of God, and cast stumbling blocks before the people.” —John Bunyan (1628-1688)
Kindly said, I am so glad that Dr. Steve Pettit has been shown the exit door at Bob Jones University (after 9 years of being their theologically incompetent executive vice president since 2014). It's about time! Amen, amen and amen! To understand why I am so happy that he is quitting, you need to understand that Dr. Pettit preaches the Devil's lie of Lordship Salvation. In this news article, it says that BJU is losing students and money. I am glad for that! The reason why is because BJU is helping to damn men's souls to Hell. BJU uses, sells and promotes the Devil's modern corrupt Bible revisions. These Bibles corrupt God's simple plan of salvation. ...
You simply cannot trust the Devil's modern Bibles. They have all been tampered with, like a criminal putting poison into nursery bottles. It is tragic that over 95% of preachers today don't consider poison bibles as deadly as actually poison, like cyanide or arsenic. Rat poison only contains 1% actual deadly poison, but the rest is wholesome food like corn meal. Likewise, the Devil's bibles (which includes ALL modern Bible revisions in the English language) contain less than 2% poison, but it is enough to kill the reader, preventing them from being born-again. I cannot warn you enough to stay away from the new Bible versions, which keep coming!
Dear reader, I love you in Christ unconditionally, no matter who you are. I don't get paid for my website ministry. I started my social media ministry in 2002 and have never accepted a single penny for my labors or any other reason over the past 21 years. It seems like yesterday. I want everyone to know that this is a labor of love for truth, people and God. I started a bunch of blogs about 5 years ago, as an extension of my website ministry. I am still copying old articles that I wrote to my blogs. I am so thankful and appreciative to Google for making this possible.
Bob Jones University has been pulling on the same rope as the Devil for the past 50 years. From all that I seen, BJU was Kosher in their plan of salvation when Dr. Bob Jones Sr. (1883-1968) was still alive and at the helm. It is clear to me that Brother Jones had a tremendous influence on the life and preaching of Dr. Jack Hyles. I love both of these dear men of God. It grieves my heart to see how our nation has changed for the worse in my lifetime. What discourages me is that today's professed Christians (particularly my own camp of independent Baptists) cannot see the forest for the trees! We are changing so quickly and most Baptists are in woeful denial. Here is a beautiful quote from Evangelist Bob Jones Sr.:
“Young people, you can't buy salvation. You can't pay for it after you get it. But if you don't already have it, you can have it. Somebody is giving it away around here. His name is Jesus and He wants to give you salvation.Amen and amen! That was so simply, beautiful and eloquently said. Dr. Bob Jones Sr. preached the simplicity that is in Jesus Christ (2nd Corinthians 11:3-4). Sadly, after “Dr. Bob” (as he was known) went to Heaven in 1968, the college began to drift sideways doctrinally, so that by the 21st century they were gone doctrinally!
Before I stop I will use an illustration I have used many times here at the college. Maybe those of you who have heard it have forgotten it.
Do you see this quarter? I want to give it to you. But I am a peculiar man. I just give away quarters one way. I put a quarter in a book, shut the book, and offer you the book. You don't want the book? Well, all right, you can't have my quarter, then. I have a right to put the quarter in any sort of package I wish. You, of course, have the privilege of rejecting the quarter.
God has something He wants to give you. It is eternal life. He wrapped it in the most wonderful package you ever heard of. He put it in Jesus. People looked at Jesus. He had no form or comeliness; there wasn't anything about Him to be desired. And they didn't realize what was wrapped up in that package. They put Jesus on a cross. They nailed Him there. They killed Him. Then He rose from the dead, and He has been scarred ever since that time. If you could see Jesus today, the glorified, risen Son of God, you would find scars on His brow and scars in His hands. If you could look at His side you would find a wound there. His feet are scarred. But, say, He has wrapped in Himself a wonderful gift. God gives you eternal life when you take Him. Eternal life is wrapped up in Christ.” —Dr. Bob Jones Sr., “Things I Have Learned: Chapel Talks,” pages 222-223; Bob Jones University Press, ©1945
After the horrific 911 attacks, Dr. Bob Jones III decided to remove the designation of “fundamentalist” from their college, because he felt the public would associate them with Muslim fundamentalists. I totally disagree. I think that was a cop out! I am proud to call myself a fundamentalist. I have been an Independent Fundamentalist Baptist since 1980 when I got saved at age 13. But, first and foremost I am a born-again Christian, by faith alone in Jesus Christ because of what He did to pay for my sins on Calvary's cross, and that He was buried and bodily resurrected from the dead three days later (1st Corinthians 15:1-6). Faith is the only righteous thing that I can do.
It breaks my heart to have watched BJU go to the dogs. Sadly, when Evangelist Steve Pettit took control of the helm at BJU in 2014, he solidified the institution as a cesspool of the Devil's Bible revisions, misunderstood repentance and Lordship Salvation. I am curious who the next president of BJU will be. I have been praying that their Board of Directors will return the college to a free grace Gospel position in their doctrine, which is what they believed and taught when they opened their college doors in 1927.
It is sad to watch institutions become corrupted by the Devil. The University of Chicago was started in 1890 by a Baptist preacher, but has sadly deteriorated over the past century, so that UOC today is a cesspool of homosexuals and atheists. The same is true of Moody Church and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. They believed and taught a 100% free grace Gospel between 1930 and 1948 when Pastor Harry A. Ironside (1876-1951) was at the helm. Sadly, Moody Church has deteriorated over the decades. Tragically, on Moody's college website today, they claim to be Calvinist in their doctrinal leaning. That is the consequence of Moody Ministries wickedly bidding Godspeed to Pastor John MacArthur (a devout 5-point Calvinist and the modern-day godfather of the heresy of Lordship Salvation). Moody Publishers prints all of John MacArthur's poisonous books. Birds of a feather flock together!
Dear friend, I hope you see the danger of Lordship Salvation. I encourage you to read Matthew 7:21-23. They cried “Lord, Lord” to Jesus, but He denied knowing them. They boasted of their “many wonderful works” done in Jesus' name, but again He denied knowing them. Satan's greatest weapon is to con people into living the Christian life without ever being born-again. All across the world today there are religious people in the churches who are committed to serving Jesus Christ. They follow Him devoutly as the “Lord” of their life. They follow Him. They know Jesus (as Judas Iscariot did), but Jesus doesn't know them as one of His sheep. Why didn't the dead Savior know them? Jesus gives us the plain answer in Matthew 7:21, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
Something that I love about the inspired King James Bible is that it contains a built-in dictionary (which the modern corrupt versions do not). Jesus tells us plainly “the will of my Father” in John 6:40, “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” The only way to become born-again is by faith alone in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God (John 20:31).
Here is the gospel: God says that we are sinners and that no amount of good works or behavioral changes on our part could ever make us holy enough to enter Heaven. God sent His Son to pay for all of our sins. Jesus paid for our crimes by dying on the cross for us all. His dead body was buried in a grave. On the third day, Jesus arose from the dead. The instant you believe this, He knows it and He saves you. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on Me hath everlasting life” (John 6:47). The free gift is based solely upon your trust in what Jesus did for you and has nothing at all to do with what you do for Him. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). ~Michael P. Bowen, "I NEVER KNEW YOU."
I wish, hope and pray that God would remove all false prophets like Steve Pettit. I am thankful for the sake of the students at BJU. I seriously doubt if BJU's Board of Directors will return the college to a free grace Gospel position, but we never know. All we can do is hope and pray and see what happens, but I am not holding my breath. God will not force anyone to do what is right, the Board of Directors at BJU must first desire to change for the better. Thank you for reading.
