John 7:19-24, “Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me? The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee? Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel. Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man. If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”
In our text passage of Scripture, we find a group of hypocritical Jews being critical and judgmental of our dear Savior. The Lord had just healed a sick man. Our text passage from John 7:19-24 is referring to an impotent man whom Jesus healed on the Sabbath Day in John chapter five:
John 5:5-10, “And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.”These wicked Jews were critics! They chose to ignore the good miracle which they had just seen, choosing instead to think negative and find fault. This is what the Devil does, he accuses "the brethren" (Revelation 12:10). The Devil is a liar and the father of it (John 8:44). Jesus had bestowed an act of mercy upon the crippled man, who had been ill for 38 long years. The Jews couldn't care less that Jesus healed this man! You'd think that they would have praised God and expressed joy for this suffering man's cure! Yet, they were sinfully critical and judgmental instead; not only criticizing Jesus, but also criticizing the man for picking up his matt, upon which he had laid for 38 years!
How does this relate to so many people today? Sadly, this includes religious people. In fact, some of the worst offenders are pastors! I have labored diligently since 2002 online through my website ministry to preach the truth, to help reach people for Jesus Christ. I thank God for all the wonderful testimonies that people share with me. One of my faithful web visitors wrote to me today, sharing his personal testimony about how God used my ministry to save his family and rescue them from sin and ruin. I always pass any praise onto my dear Savior, for without Him I can do nothing (John 15:5).
Yet, when I attended the Lighthouse Baptist Church on Guam, Pastor Sean Quinlan became critical and judgmental of my ministry. He falsely accused me of thinking I am “an apostle.” I have never made such a claim. You see, I preach with the authority of the Holy Bible, “REBUKING THEM SHARPLY” (incompetent pastors) as Titus 1:10-14 commands in the Word of God. I am simply obeying God. You'd think that a church pastor would commend me for speaking THE TRUTH, instead of being critical because RIGHT DOCTRINE MATTERS to me.
Sean Quinlan was upset with me for saying that “Bob Jones University sells corruptible seed.” Well, THEY DO! BJU today is the fountainhead of the corrupt Westcott and Hort Greek. BJU has become a cesspool of doctrines of devils, iniquity, false Bibles and the Devil's damnable lie of Lordship Salvation!!! According to Galatians 1:6-7, God's curse is upon Bob Jones University and their graduates, because they preach another gospel.
And then when I attended Campus Church at Pensacola Christian College, their senior pastor, Jeff Redlin, learned about my website ministry (not from me), and became critical and judgmental. You'd think he would have spoken a kind word of encouragement, but instead he took the liberty to be critical and judgmental, false accusing me of “finding weaknesses in preachers.” Pastor Redlin is thinking all WRONG! In fact, I am exposing DAMNABLE HERESIES that send people to Hell forever. Would I be "finding weakness" in my neighbour, for yelling in the wee hours of the morning if I saw his house on fire? No, I would be hailed as a hero! Yet when I warn everyone about a counterfeit gospel at Bob Jones University, and their corrupt graduates who preach the Devil's lie of Lordship Salvation, the ungodly Pensacola Christian College camp falsely accuse me of finding their weaknesses! No, Pastor Jeff Redlin is a darn fool! GET RIGHT WITH GOD PENSACOLA CHRISTIAN COLLEGE!!!
Jesus told the Jews in John 7:22, “Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.” Pastor Charles Ellicott (1819-1905) offers this excellent Bible commentary, with which I fully agree:
The argument is, "Ye circumcise on the Sabbath day because circumcision is part of the Mosaic law; but Moses gave you circumcision because he had an anterior and higher authority for it, and in practice you recognise this and make it override the Sabbath. But if circumcision is allowed, why not a deed of mercy? This is the practice and precept of your rulers. But if a patriarchal rite is greater than the Mosaic Sabbath, because the fathers were anterior to Moses, how much more an act of love, which is anterior to all time." SOURCE
Abraham was the first Jewish patriarch to practice circumcision. This symbolic ritual was meant to be a visible, permanent, external sign of the relationship between God and His people: the nation of Israel. Circumcision continually reminded the male Jew (the head of the household) that he was to be separated from the heathen (Gentile) world.
Accordingly, a male child was to be circumcised (i.e., the foreskin removed) on the eighth day after birth (Genesis 17:12; Leviticus 12:3). This necessitated that some baby boys would have to be circumcised on a Sabbath day. But under the Mosaic law, Jews were forbidden to even pick up sticks or light a fire on the Sabbath Day, on penalty of death! Jesus is referring to the controversy caused in John 5:5-10, when He healed an impotent man on a Sabbath day. The Lord is exposing the hypocrisy of the Jews! If "breaking" the Sabbath Day to perform a mere ritual was acceptable with God, then why did the Pharisees reject Jesus' healing of a man who'd been crippled for 38 years? The problem here was that the religious Jews were being sinfully critical and judgmental. They only saw what they wanted to see!
The foolish Jews were blinded by their hatred for Jesus. All they saw was a man breaking the Sabbath Day. In their own wicked minds, it was okay to perform the ritual of circumcision on the Sabbath Day (and in so doing breaking the Sabbath tradition), but Jesus wasn't allowed to heal a sick man. This is why Jesus told them in John 7:23-24, “If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” It is sinful to be an unjust critic. The Lord tells us that when we judge, to judge righteously! That is, Biblically.
Likewise, if these ungodly pastors today who criticize my website ministry were right with God, they would see the good that God is doing through my humble labors, instead of being critical and judgmental of my work. Through my ministry I "REBUKE THEM SHARPLY" (Titus 1:10-14) in the Bob Jones University (BJU) camp, because they are preaching another gospel. Please read "Another Gospel" by one of my favorite preachers, Pastor Harry Ironside (1876-1951). At BJU and their affiliated churches (e.g., the shameful Harvest Baptist Church on Guam), they are promoting and following the damnable heresies of Pastor John MacArthur. Dr. Steve Pettit (incompetent president of BJU since 2014) is personal friends with John MacArthur (a BJU alumni).
Dr. Steve Pettit is of the Devil, lying about how to get to Heaven. I am faithfully exposing these false prophets. I am faithfully exposing Marty Herron, Chuck Phelps, Gary Walton and other infidels in the pulpit today, who damn men's souls to Hell with their perverse understanding of repentance, errantly teaching that you must forsake sinful bad habits (i.e., keep the law) of you cannot go to Heaven. What saith the Scripture? Romans 3:19-20, “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
The Bible warns against being critical and judgmental:
Matthew 7:1-5, “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.”
That is why we read in:
Romans 3:4, “God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.”
The things that we judge, the words we speak (Matthew 12:36), and the actions we take (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14), will be judged by God in eternity (Romans 14:10-12). If our words and deeds align with God's Word, we will overcome on Judgment Day! But if not, we will suffer loss and shame, and many perish into Hell forever in their false plan of salvation. The Bob Jones crowd are going to Hell with their wrong repentance, Calvinism and Lordship Salvation. I say that kindly, but on the authority of God's inspired Word. Not one verse in the inspired King James Bible teaches to repent “OF YOUR SIN” to get to Heaven.
No, we are simply told to BELIEVE. Acts 16:30-31, “And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Yet these FOOLS in the Bob Jones University camp teach that MORE is required. What BJU and company are preaching today is NOT Free Grace Theology!!! Sadly, even Pensacola Christian College (PCC) has been infected with a false gospel, teaching that your behavior must change or else you cannot go to Heaven! Liars!!!
Instead of exposing BJU as a dangerous rattlesnake today, the PCC camp are coddling and embracing them in spiritual adultery, treating them like pet cats instead of treacherous scorpions! What saith the Scripture? 2nd John 1:11, “For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.” SHAME on Pastor Jeff Redlin at PCC's Campus Church, for being critical and judgmental of my website ministry, when I am doing what he is too much of a coward to do, TAKE A STAND AGAINST FALSE DOCTRINE!!!
Pastor Redlin foolishly criticized my work in July of 2021, when I attended Campus Church after just moving from Guam to Pensacola, Florida. Pastor Redlin should have kept his mouth shut. I hadn't told him about my website ministry. He sinfully listened to gossip and behaved as a fool, and now I must expose his ministry for sleeping with the devil at Bob Jones University, and expose their infidel graduates who infect churches with John MacArthur's poison. Pastor Jeff Redlin is the epitome of everything that is wrong with churches today, and why America is going to Hell in a wheelbarrow!!! Jeremiah 10:21, “For the pastors are become brutish [lacking good sense], and have not sought the LORD: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.”
We need a whole new generation of Bible preachers, unlike the cowards at PCC and the infidels at BJU, who PREACH THE WORD!!! We need a generation of pastors like Steven Anderson, Ralph Yankee Arnold, Peter Ruckman, Hank Lindstrom, Dany Castle, Max Younce, Roger Jimenez and Jack Hyles who STAND!!!
