Life Is What Happens To You When You Make Big Plans

Proverbs 27:1, “Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”

Life is what happens to us when we're making big plans. The Holy Bible cautions us that we don't know what each day may unfold, so we ought never boast of future plans without including God. James 4:13-16, Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. Please don't miss that, the Scripture not only tells us that we ought to include God in our future plans, but that it is EVIL not to do so!

I long ago started prefixing everything I say about doing something tomorrow or in the future with the phrases God willing or Lord willing, which is 100% Biblical to do. And if you don't as a child of God, you are sinning. You don't know if you will be alive tomorrow. You or I, or both of us, could be in eternity by sundown. Someone has said that life is a gift from God, which is why we call it “THE PRESENT.” I like that. Each moment of life, and every breath that we take, is a precious gift from God.

I read last month about an 11 year old Girl Scout in southern Indiana, who was killed when a 40 foot tree fell over on her. It had been raining for several days and the ground became loose in the woods where they were hiking. The local sheriff cried while giving a press conference to the newsmedia about it. That little girl had no idea that it would be the last day of her life. The same thing could happen to you or me. There is a popular show, some episodes of which you still can see on YouTube, called: “1,000 Ways To Die.” The show is fascinating, showing some of the very odd and bizarre ways in which people have died.

King Nebuchadnezzar's son did not glorify God, as neither did his father, and it cost him his life:
Daniel 5:22-27, “And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this; But hast lifted up thyself against the LORD of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.  And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
Life is what happens to us when we're making big plans. We must never forget that God is in ultimate control of our life, and the Lord alone decides when we die. Hebrews 9:27, “  ”
Acts 12:21-23, “And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.”
It is a horrible sin not to glorify God in our daily life. God made and knew us before we were even conceived in our mother's womb (Jeremiah 1:5). The Lord keeps us breathing (Acts 17:25). Our whole reason for existence is to please God (Revelation 4:11). Man's whole duty in life is to fear God and keep His commandments (Ecclesiastes 12:13b). Not many people have faith in the God of the Holy Bible. It is sad that there are an estimated 1.6 billion hellbound Muslims in the world. 2nd Timothy 2:13, “If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” God is a good God! Nothing will ever be happy until it serves its purpose for being created. A bird with wings that was intended to fly through the air, needs to fly to be happy. Many women are unhappy nowadays, because they are pursuing careers and good times with their friends, instead of getting married, bearing children, and becoming homemakers as God intended (1st Timothy 5:14-15).

This life is short and will be over before we know it. I don't know about you, but I want to please God with my life each day. I am not a perfect person, and neither is anybody else, but we do have a perfect Savior! Jesus Christ is His precious name! I sometimes wonder if God feels lonely like I do. I don't believe God just says, “Oh well, I have other friends, so if you don't want to spend time in fellowship with Me, I'll just spend time with them instead.” I would expect a horrible phony church like Harvest Baptist Church on Guam to treat people like that, as they have mistreated me since 2014, but God is not like that!

We cannot control much of what happens in our daily life. I wish I could control who falls in love with me, as I am in love with a woman, but I cannot. I know the deep pain of loving someone who ignores me, and doesn't want me, and it hurts. That is just a part of life that I hate. I often wonder why God does that to us, allowing us to fall in love with someone who doesn't want us, and is unkind toward us. It makes no sense to me, but I trust the Lord no matter what (Job 13:15). Life is what happens to us when we're making big plans.
