Anytime you do your will instead of God's will, you're doing the same thing the Devil did—your exalting yourself over God. SELF is the Satan that Satan directs you too! Satan doesn't want on the throne, he wants SELF on the throne! The Devil's not trying to get you to do what he wants you to do, he wants you do do anything that will hinder you from doing what God wants you to do. The Devil has NO PURPOSE for your life, but God DOES have a divine PURPOSE for your life!!! The reason why the Devil wants you to drink liquor is to keep you from doing what God wants you to do. You're a total failure in life, if you're not doing what God wants you to do. Listen, everybody who doesn't do what God has called you do to—you are putting yourself above the Most High. You are your own God!!!
The worst idolater in the world is the Christian believer who does their own thing instead of following God's will for their life. Satan does not want on the throne of your life, he wants YOU on the throne. The Devil knows it's going to be a lot easier to get you do do YOUR THING, than HIS THING. And by the way, you have no right to be a preacher because you want to be a preacher! You only have a right to do what GOD WANTS YOU TO DO! It's not your business, it's God's business!!! I love what Brother Lester Roloff used to say—MY PREACHING IS NONE OF MY BUSINESS!!!
1st Corinthians 6:20, “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” You have NO RIGHT as God's child to go where you want, do what you want, and be what you want. The Bible teaches WE ARE BOUGHT WITH A PRICE! That “price” is the precious blood of Jesus Christ!!! The very moment you get saved, your spirit, soul and body now belongs to Jesus! Colossians 3:1-3, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”
The same is true with salvation for the lost person. Satan wants to get you to do your own thing, instead of resting in Christ's redemptive work to pay for your sins! That's what Bible repentance is—it is a change of mind from WRONG THINKING to trusting God's plan of salvation! To get saved, you need to cease from what you want to do to get to Heaven, and start doing what God says you must do to get to Heaven, which is to BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST! Acts 16:30b-31, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” God's invitation to receive the free gift of salvation is extended to the whole family!!!
You don't get saved by cleaning up your life; you get saved by letting God regenerate you by faith alone in the 'GOOD NEWS' of Jesus Christ crucified, buried and risen the third day (1st Corinthians 15:1-4). Simply trust Christ as your ONLY HOPE for Heaven!!! Simply come to God as a needy sinner and admit that you cannot do it, you need the blessed Savior to save you!
